Your mother needs to get examined to rule out a few things such as low blood pressure, postural hypotension, cervical spinal nerve compression, hypoglycemia, severe anemia, an underactive thyroid (called hypothyroidism), overactive thyroid (called hyperthyroidism), adrenal insufficiency (called Addison's disease), GERD, and internal ear infections. FSH, LH, estrogen and progesterone should also be tested. Please consult your PCP for primary examination followed by proper referral.

Avatar f tn Yes, I have food allergies and chemical sensitivities. And also allergy to molds and candida I had at least in the past. It was major reason for adrenal fatigue together with hormonal shot with Progestin. The problem that I still can’t stop eating allergic food sometimes, because I am always hungry. Hypoglycemia is from that too as whole hormonal system imbalanced when one have Candida infection. I wonder how many people with low adrenal function have hypoglycemia?

Avatar n tn i have 3 children with celiac disease. we got in on a celiac study done through the university of california,irvine. we now know that my husband and i and 8 of my 9 children all are DQ2 positive. i don't know why the disease activated in only 3 of my children and no one else---at least not yet. my celiac children are all girls--identical twins that just turned 20 and a 16 year old. they were all diagnosed at the same time 5 1/2 years ago.

Avatar n tn Welcome to the MedHelp forum! You probably had a case of food poisoning. Take an OTC lactobacillus preparation (probiotics) and yoghurt with your meals. Drink plenty of fluids (clear soups, water, ORS in water, lemonade). Eat light, do not stay hungry but eat simple things like toast, porridge, cereals, crackers, banana, rice, peeled apple, etc. Take over the counter antacid and antiemetic (this SOS for vomiting). Watch out for a day or two with this treatment.

If you have headaches and hot flashes and lightheadedness with a feeling of passing out, you could be having either polycystic ovarian disease (if you are a female) or GERD with or without H pylori infection. These are the two conditions to be ruled out first.

The best test would be either the 24 hour saliva cortisol test or the 24 hour urine cortisol test.

However, usually this dizziness is accompanied by some neurological sign like numbness, tingling, loss of sensation etc. The cause could be hormonal imbalance due to attaining menopause.
