Avatar m tn im the 16 year old who posted up a question about a week ago about oxycontin withdrawal. and wouldnt ya know it quitting didnt turn out so well. i tried my hardest but i just couldnt cope with the horrid withdrawal effects. i was wondering if i should go to the doctors and see if he can perscribe me something to help ease off the oxy or make the withdrawal less emotionally crippling.
Avatar f tn Lenevan covered it well. You are certainly not in the high range for what people often are taking, and I would NOT suggest Suboxone or buprenorphine, as your tolerance would be pushed higher if you went on that med from where you are. One thing I'll add-- most people feel the same way about residential treatment; that they don't want to risk their job.
Avatar m tn Doubling just the first couple of times caused swelling in my mouth and around my eyes, so I dropped lyrica altogether. In no time I was hit with xanax type withdrawal symptoms: depersonalization, lack of concentration and dizziness being the most frightening. So, I asked to be switched to neurontin and he wrote out 300 mgs. three times daily for me.
Avatar n tn So after a few days, any withdrawal you feel is going to be a tramadol withdrawal and not a hydrocodone withdrawal. And yes, it will be worse, there are many more horror stories about tram than hydrocodone. I had a doctor try to take me off of hydrocodone by giving me tramadol a few years ago when I was stopping meds after a surgery, and the withdrawals were terrible.
Avatar f tn I just realized that I didn't answer your question -- which medication is right for you? The answer requires a knowledge of your pain condition and medical history, so let me answer in general. But before I start, remember this: the decision to enter into chronic opioid therapy (COT) is not to be taken lightly. While opioid analgesics can be effective for some chronic pain, for certain pain syndromes, it does not relieve much pain.
Avatar m tn I had a minor surgery 2 weeks ago and have been using 40 to 50 mg of hydrocodone the entire time. I am wondering if I will have withdrawal symptoms, if I should try to taper off, or if it's ok to just stop immediately. I have heard that withdrawal is very painful and I am nervous.
Avatar n tn How long and intense will withdrawal be if I stop 4-5 vicodin a day that I have taken regularly for months?
Avatar n tn I'm scared-- I'm trying to come off of hydrocodone. I have been taking anywhere from 5 to 8 7.5/500 mg tablets per day for over a year. I have taken either hydrocodone or tramadol. I came off of tramadol about 2 weeks ago and was sick as a dog for 3 or 4 days. Is the withdrawals from hydrocodone going to be as bad as the tramadol? I would appreciate any info.....I am so scared.
Avatar m tn hi everyone,i have been taking 10mg hydrocodone for about the past 5 months, i take anywhere between 4-6 pills throughout the day,i suffer from extreme restless leg syndrome but it only effects my feet, suprisingly the hydrocodone relieves this sensation i have in my feet and im able to relax, without them my feet drive me absolutely insane and causes mental agitation, depression, anxiety, anger and overwhelming thoughts.
Avatar f tn You are now likely either in withdrawal from coming off oxycodone, or in precipitated withdrawal from the buprenorphine's opioid blocking effects. I wish I had an easy answer for you, but the right way forward at this point depends on many different factors-- factors that I do not know. I would recommend getting back on the meds you were taking, and making sure that your doc understands the complex effects of buprenorphine-- including the opioid blocking effects of the medication.
Avatar n tn Hey everyone, This is my first time posting any kind of question anywhere, but here goes. I have been taking Lorcet for a while now. I started taking it with a dr. prescription for pilonidal cyst disease. I didn't start taking it for kicks or a high, but a legitimate health condition. I have weaned myself off by tapering. I took the last pill 32 hours ago. I have not really had any withdrawal effects other than feeling a bit nervous.
Avatar n tn Has anyone ever experienced the following symptoms during hydrocodone withdrawal: dilated pupils, nervousness, cold hands, sweating and talking about things which make absolutely NO SENSE. My husband is recovering from surgery and has stopped taking the pain medication. Last night, he began talking nonsense. He is also having vivid dreams that he swears are reality. I don't know if he is hallucinating or what but it is very scary. Can anyone shed some light on this?
Avatar f tn Does anyone know if hydrocodone withdrawal causes calcium, Vit D and potassium levels to drop?
Avatar f tn Does anyone out there have any advice for pregnant women coping with hydrocodone withdrawal?
Avatar m tn Last week I posted a question pertaining to the symptoms associated with hydrocodone withdrawal. I don't seem to be able to locate the responses to my post. What am I doing wrong? I recently had a severe back injury and was taking as many as 10 vicodin per day .When the pain began to subside I discontinued the hydrocodone and immediately began to experience symptoms of nausea, weakness and general malaise. I'm down to 1/2 a pill in the morning and 1/2 pill in the late afternoon.
