Hydrocodone with or without food

Common Questions and Answers about Hydrocodone with or without food

vicodin

Avatar f tn My son takes a medication that is specific WITH food and also another that says you pick with food or without food, but stay consistent with it. I think Coreg, from my reading, is food optional but the recommendation is that with food is better because it slows the rate of absorption. This is to prevent orthostatic hypotension (this is when bp drops and you get dizzy when you stand up). If you aren't having that problem by not taking it with food, then may not be a worry for you.
Avatar n tn it was helpful to perform another toilet paper wipe with toilet paper which had been wetted with soapy water - or just wash around the anal area with soapy water after finishing the #2. A mild antiseptic/soothing ointment may also help. When your father is away from home (i.e. in a restaurant etc) take with you a supply of mild baby wipes to carry out this "last toilet paper wipe". Now - how to try and reduce the number of #2 visits....
197480 tn?1300891097 I'm 23 days off norco10/325. I was taking anywhere from 6-10 a day. I did a short 4-5 day taper. It was fine until the last 2 day of the taper when I only took 2 pills. It was basically like starting withdrawal. I don't know if it helped or not. My wds were brutal. I recommend just stopping cold turkey and getting it over with. The mental part of the taper was also pretty bad. I felt pretty bad for 7-10 days but I've felt great this last week or so.
725637 tn?1251685382 I am not one for expensive supplements, and have also been through the misery of W/D on many occasions-- none for years, thankfully. I agree with the post by Larry for the most part with one addition: the 'classic' medication for opiate W/D for years has been clonidine. It is very safe, and dirt cheap-- 4 bucks for 90 tabs at Target or WalMart-- but unfortunately requires a prescription. If you have a nice family doc, he/she might call it in for you.
988378 tn?1250687186 Of coarse keep in mind I have only been on them for 6 months or less however I was at a point for the past 2 or 3 months where I was taking 20 or so a day. The first 3 days where horrible, but I did what I had to do and finally let my wife know that I had a problem. However for those wanting adivice on quitting, when I called my doctor and let him know of my situation he told me to take Benadryl (25mg) to help calm your down and Tylenol as needed during your withdrawl periods.
Avatar f tn Hi Mellie, I take hydrocodone daily for pain control. When I first started taking it and occasionally now I get headaches from the hydrocodone. I have to take Ibuprofen with the hydrocodone sometimes. Like you it does not work on my headaches. I too find myself craving more sweets. I didn't use to touch them. I was never a sweet eater until the pain became extreme and I was prescribed hydrocodone. I don't know if it is because of the medication or because I use them as a comfort food.
Avatar n tn I hope you listen to what most of these people have said and just taper with the hydrocodone or quit it all together because it is a WAY BETTER route than the Methadone. I wish you luck and will be praying for you. Take care.
Avatar m tn my concern is that the low level of morphine i expect him to start me out with will not be affective. if i have to call to address this or even bear through the pain till my next appointment to tell him i will be looked at like i am just trying to get more to get high when that is not the case at all. if it controls my pain i will be fine with it. i also have the concern of tolerance to yet another pain medication.
Avatar m tn 2 days ago we ended up back in the ER because he was having pain for almost 12 hours with no relief. The hydrocodone he was prescribed does not help at all. They gave him dilaudid, which took the pain right away for about 12 hours, but it came back and lasted most of the day. That was yesterday and now today the same thing. Going on 12 hours of non stop pain.
Avatar n tn This is true for any dye injection procedure, whether with a CT or an MRA.
Avatar n tn I'm on day 12 with no vics feeling the same way. Maybe it is the flu? My stomach only hurts when I eat, and it the cramping in the stomach...just like you described. Alot of germs floating around this time of the year.
Avatar m tn an average 54 year old woman would have to do during a regular day (food shopping, walk the dog, cook dinner without having to sit down every 10 minutes, go to garage sales and flea markets, etc). You've got to get off the hydrocodone for the sake of your liver. The oxycodone is also stronger than the hydrocodone, it should give you better pain control although everyone is different and for some, one might work better than the other.
430403 tn?1204077939 Begin your detox with regular doses of Valium (or alternate benzo). Start with a dose high enough to produce sleep. Before you use any benzo, make sure you're aware of how often it can be safely taken. Different benzos have different dosing schedules. Taper your Valium dosage down after each day. The goal is to get through day 4, after which the worst W/D symptoms will subside. You shouldn't need the Valium after day 4 or 5. [melatonin worked well after day 4 for me.
Avatar m tn ) soooooooooo super happy I finally made the decision to regain myself/my life. It might seem crazy but it seems like I'm coming out of a fog. I know this is just the beginning and I'm preparing to fight this for as long as it takes. With the help of my love and the support from all of you wonderful people I'm determined to be myself again.
Avatar f tn s something stuck in the back of my throat like food or something and this fear has caused me to not eat as much and make me lose some weight ( not that there was a lot of weight to lose.) Can someone please help me..
Avatar f tn Hi- Well...when you begin running out early, taking more than prescribed in a day, taking in the absence of pain, worrying about traveling and running out, counting pills, hoarding pills, lying about taking pills, on and on... If that sounds like you then you have crossed that line. Remember though, people have wd's when they are without their pain med whether they are non addicts or addicts. Withdrawals will happen no matter what. So, you may be dependent but not necessarily an abuser.
Avatar m tn I have been through the wd already and am taking a lot less than i was so i hope i can get through it ok if i have surgery and they pain is less. I have gone 4 days twice without anything with a couple of days of taking something in between in the last 2 weeks, but only one or 2 a day of the 5.5 hydros. The pain in my back gets so bad i give up even though the cravings are just about gone.
Avatar m tn I have had the sterioid injections and taken handfuls of steroids but nothing seemed to help. About three years ago I started self medicating with hydrocodone. I started taking the 5 milligrams pills but soon moved to the 10 miligrams. At my max I was taking about 8 10/325's a day. I did this for about three years but knew it was a losing battle with a drug that you can never have enough of. I thought that taking the drug and being numb was the answer.
Avatar m tn I need to know something...how long after you have started taking hydrocodone can you take one every now and then when the pain gets bad and not withdrawl...I am on day 5 of not taking any no w.d. except energy loss but my pain is hard to handle if i was to take ONE at this point would my w.d. start over???
Avatar n tn Four years ago I was diagnosed with Degenerative Disc Disease without any hope for surgery to correct and live with a 7-8 pain level 24/7 on a scale of 10. I have found altnerative supplements that have helped greatly with the pain and am thankful. I am also a type II Emotional Diabetic under insulin dependence and have high blood pressure and retain water. Here's my problem: 37 days ago I underwent carpal tunnel surgery of the right hand. I am a church musician.
Avatar n tn 15 mg/80 mg hydrocodone/acetaminophen(paracetamol), 30 mg/80 mg hydrocodone/acetaminophen, and 45 mg/80 mg hydrocodone/acetaminophen per capsule: 5 mg/80 mg hydrocodone/acetaminophen, 10 mg/80 mg hydrocodone/acetaminophen, 15 mg/80 mg hydrocodone/acetaminophen, 10 mg/100 mg hydrocodone/acetaminophen, 15 mg/100 mg hydrocodone/acetaminophen, 10 mg/200 mg hydrocodone/acetaminophen, 15 mg/200 mg hydrocodone/acetaminophen, 5 mg/500 mg hydrocodone/acetaminophen, 10 mg/200 mg hydrocodone/ibuprofen, a
Avatar f tn I am 22 as of last week. My mother is almost 60 and she has a real bad back and knees. She has been taking hydrocodone for as long as I can remember. Well, when I turned 13 I got into smoking marijuana. Still do to this day. And I think it is what opened me up to the other drugs I have done. Anyways, when I was around 16, I had real bad mestrual pain and my mom offered me one of her pain killers. Bad mistake. The first time I took it, I got sick because I didn't eat.
Avatar n tn So now I take 5 10mg of these and feel ok (side effect of impotence though). My hope is that I can get back on the hydrocodone or oxycodone or perocoset since these are the ones that have no side effects for me. Only problem is that they are the most abused drugs in the US so people like us who actually benefit from them (chronic diarrhea and mal-absorption from having no large intestine) suffer as a result. We are viewed as abusers when the truth is without it our life is ****** hell!
2333944 tn?1342912367 I never thought I'd be writing this. I have never done drugs or even drank alcohol, prior to going on hydrocodone about four years ago for my very bad knees. I am 65 years old. My doctor prescribed me 120 per month. I usually only took two a day, sometimes 3, but I got to the point, if I didn't have some with me at all times, I felt panicky. I didn't even have to take one....I just had to have them..."just in case".
Avatar f tn s the question. If I take codeine or hydrocodone and try to skip at least 12 hours and hopefully, a day here and there will I get as horridly hooked as I was on the oxycontin's? I can not schedule these tests as fast as needed. At least I convinced my regular doc that tramadol was not an option and I thank you all for that! Also, how long after dropping lexapro could I start taking the recommended supplements that you can't take while on an SSRI?
