Hydrocodone with alcohol

Common Questions and Answers about Hydrocodone with alcohol

vicodin

Avatar n tn That's 3500 mg of acetaminophen which isn't a huge amount. It is quite a bit if taken at one time though but to be honest I have taken much more than that at once and for a extended period of time. Luckily I didn't do any damage to my liver or kidneys. You should be just fine since you haven't made a habit out of it. As I'm sure you know, mixing alcohol with acetaminophen is a very bad combination so make sure you don't do that again.
Avatar f tn I actually have more trouble with Ibuprofen than I do with Tylenol. I had asked my Doctor about it and he told me that Ibuprofen was just as harmful in large doses. With you having an occasional drink and you taking the prescribed medication, I would not worry about your intake of Tylenol or Ibuprofen. It can be a concern if you take these drugs on a regular basis or long term. Most Doctor will not prescribe the medication with those additives.
Avatar m tn I know the statistics with alcohol and acetaminophen - Alcohol appears to activate the enzyme CYP2E1 in the liver. I don't know exactly what Mercy is referring to with the statement, "they will own you." If it's meant opiates will own you - that's another totally different thread and not true for most. If it's meant that mixing alcohol and opiates is a bad combination - by all means that is true. Back to your question, "could i die doing this even 1 time?
Avatar n tn Since alcohol is a major cause of liver disease and the use of certain pain relievers is too, it's pretty obvious that you need to limit both. Also, read the prescription instructions which most likely issue caution not to mix that drug with alcohol, that's for a reason. Your over use of alcohol is of great concern, you might want to reconsider the unhealthy lifestyle you're creating at a young age.
Avatar m tn I did however stop the alcohol for a few days. But I am through with the Hydrocodone. Yes, I know I should not mix alcohol and Clonazepam. But unfortunately have been doing so for years. My liver tests have always come back normal still. But yes, I know the harm of mixing all together. But that was not my question, My question was "Can Hydrocodone, when taken as prescribed, give relief from withdraw of booze?" Not that one should use it for that purpose, but wondering it if does.
Avatar m tn s actually from the hydrocodone. Obviously i have an addictive personality and decided to nip the hydrocodone and alcohol in the bud, but granted today at work (washing dishes) I felt like a pile of ****. Please help. Also do you have any reccomendations if you've gone through nicotine withdrawals before? Should I take some tylenol or something for my back? Is there anything that can help me sleep?
Avatar f tn In such cases it is very important to note any other conditions like stress, confusion, memory loss, alcohol, drug, and medication history (hydrocodone) is also important. As it is evident that hydrocodone might have led to hallucinations. I suggest you to take prescribed dosages otherwise can take non-opioid analgesics like ibuprofen, diclofenac etc. I suggest you to consult physician. Take care and regards.
Avatar f tn I forgot to say I've been on 10 hydrocodone per day for about six years. Before that it was alcohol. And I've tried just about everything there is. Since I was 15 years old. I'm 62 now.
1094736 tn?1257209688 I recently had my gall bladder removed, last Thursday, and I have been taking hydrocodone for the past 15 months recreationally. My average was 45mg per day while awake. I am now on Oxycodone for my surgery and have already started to wean off from 30mg per day for 3 days down to 5mg per day for the past 24 hours. 2.5mg morning, 2.5mg in the evening. I am ready to turn my life around and stop taking these narcotic pain killers as well as stop drinking.
Avatar m tn Hello; This is my first time to seek adice from others. I'm a disabled Vet, and therefore use that medical facility as my medical "coverage". I mention this simply to call attention to the extremely long waiting list for medical facility detox. Therefore, a home remedy is at least worth trying. I've been on a 50mg daily hydrocodone regiment for the past 7 years, and lately have subsidized that amount with another 20mg per day. Treatment is for very painful condition of my feet.
Avatar m tn If he's just taking hydrocodone, and not mixing with other drugs or alcohol, it would take alot to overdose. Especially if he has a tolerance. I would say its more likely he would need to go to the hospital for APAP toxicity than hydrocodone overdose. APAP (tylenol) is mixed with the hydrocodone and is not good for the liver in high doses. Just tell him not to go crazy and make sure he doesn't mix with alcohol or other drugs (besides weed), and he should remain alive.
Avatar n tn Hello, there are moderate interactions between Nyquil( containing Nyquil) and Vicodin (containing hydrocodone). Using HYDROcodone together with doxylamine may increase side effects such as dizziness, drowsiness, and difficulty concentrating. Some people may also experience some impairment in thinking and judgment. You should avoid or limit the use of alcohol while being treated with these medications. Also take the medicines at different intervals.
Avatar m tn Dear Doctor, I was perscribed Tramadol for my back along with some hydrocodone for my back surgery coming up on May 6th. Then I started reading how awful it is to get off of Tramadol. I never abused it, or got high off of it. Just want to stop before I get in too deep. My question is , will I have withdrawals from 3 months of this drug. I asked my Pharmacist and he said I probably wouldn't due to that it has been 32 hours since I touched a pill.
Avatar n tn Hi I have a Chronic on going illness that I have been dealing with for over ten years now. I never had any problem until 2 years ago when all the pain returned. I lost 30 pounds in 3 months and was in and out of the hospital with my Crohn's disease. My dr prescribed my hydrocodone for the pain. It helped alot but after awhile i felt that it wsn't working anymore as the pain still continued ans currently does. This has been a 2 year on going deal.
Avatar f tn Hi, i'd recently come off oxy - and its been almost 6 months, and i got a hydrocodone script cuz i have serious joint problems, I havnt been able to control taking the hydrocodone - i'd get it then take 120 in 10 days then get withdrawls, the first time i had Kratom & it helped - when that wore out i was off everything 12 days before getting my vicodin script again... now i messed up AGAIN and took all of them AGAIN in about 10 days - taking 3-4 at a time - ( 7.
801188 tn?1241647626 hi. most all opiate analgesics are combined with other drugs, usually acetaminophen or ibuprofen. for example, the opiate/nsaid ratio of vicodin is 5/500 mg. to my knowledge, hydrocodone is not generally dispensed alone, as oxycodone, morphine, and hydromorphone are in medications. and yes, acetaminophen is very toxic in high doses or in those with compromised liver function, especially when used in conjunction with alcohol consumption.
Avatar f tn Who is prescribing your Norco? I'm.sure your liver is fine. But honestly, you're kinda playing with fire. If you're taking pain meds with tylenol, you should give up alcohol. Or at least ask your doctor for a pain med with no Tylenol in it.
Avatar m tn In my opinion your biggest concern would be the acetaminophen (Tylenol) that is contained in the hydrocodone. There have been cases of kidney damage with long term use. It has also been know to cause liver damage, especially when mixed with even small amounts of alcohol...of course that should not be a concern because alcohol should never be consumer with opiates. You may want to address this concern with your physician. We all know the problems that chronic pain brings into our daily lives.
318582 tn?1248118551 In my limited knowledge hydrocodone itself has no real bad effect on the liver. It is often marketed in pill form for pain relief with acetaminophen (tylenol). The tylenol too is not especially harmful to the liver except when used after drinking alcohol. drinking activates an enzyme CYP2E1 in the liver. This enzyme may transform elements in the tylenol into chemicals that are harmful to the liver.
Avatar n tn In addition, this seems to happen after I drink heavily (alcohol) like a few days after, however, my blood tests and liver results are normal. Could hydrocodone have damaged my gastrointestinal system?
Avatar n tn I have actually been taking almost the same combination for the past couple of years - I take hydrocodone/APAP 7.5/750 (Vicodin) 3x daily and alprazolam (Xanax) 0.5mg 4x daily. Do you have the same pharmacist fill both prescriptions? He/she would be the best person to ask if you have any worries about combining the two medications.
Avatar n tn i have been diagnosed with ADhd but don't get treatment. I have asthma so I am on meds that aready make me shakey, and I have little annoying heart flutters that get worse with"speed" type meds. The heart flutters have been addressed and it isn't a real health issue. I am on low doses of valium 2 mg a day when needed, usually only use it at night to try to sleep. I was on Hydrocode for a while due to a health issue.
Avatar f tn Hi . I have been taking hydrocodone pretty regularly for 2 years. Used to have 5mg/325 and take one or two per day. Then got a doc who prescribed 10/325 and have been taking 3-5 per day for maybe 3 months. I have 9 pills left and the doc has disappeared. I don't want to doc shop as I actually no longer need for pain. I recognize I have been using these to feel "normal".
Avatar n tn Day 10 clean from opiates.... I never had a problem with alcohol before but I always have enjoyed a few beers/wine during a game or social event.... My major and only chemical dependence issue was the 3 1/2 yr. Percocet habit that I am recovering from... Anyway, my wife and I decided to celebrate my 10th day clean and go out for dinner. Well, to make a long story short we ordered a bottle of wine and by the third glass I turned into an angry monster.
1162610 tn?1262829016 Today I took my last pill of hydrocodone. Bring on the withdrawal. I was on it for about a year for severe pain from hip arthritis. The pain was so bad I had cortisone injections, PLUS the hydrocodone, but I still had to take days off work because the pain was unbearable. I've had hip replacement and feel great now. Of course, I feel REALLY great while I'm taking that dern hydrocodone, which was the problem.
