and they told me I have Epididymitis. The doctor perscribed Naproxen 500mg twice a day, Levaquin 500mg once a day and Hydrocodone 500mg for pain as needed. The testical has gotten bigger since I went in ( as i expected ) because I caught it so early. My question is about the Naproxen.... I do not like the way it makes me feel when I take it. I get kind of anxious, even kind of depressed, and just on edge it seems after I've taken it. Is that normal?
I get urine drug tested every month when i go to get my prescriptions from a pain management clinic. I have tested positive for either Hydrocodone or Oxycontin the last 6 times I tested. I havent taken Hydrocodone in 5 years and Ive never taken Oxycontin. The dr doesnt believe me and Im probably gonna be released because of it. I cant make him believe me. Can anyone tell me if any of the following drugs can give a false positive for Hydrocodone or Oxycontin.
My brother is on welfare and the doctors at the clinic have given him the following meds. Tramadol 50 mg, Trazadone 50mg,Amitriptyline 10mg, cyclobenzaprine 10mg, Hydrocodone/APAP 5mg/500mg. In addition he was also given medication for Diabetes Type II, metformin 850 mg, glipizide 5mg, lisinopril 5 mg, simvastatin 20mg, Asprin 81 mg, Ranitidine 150 mg. Additionally he was also prescribed Naproxen 500mg and Alumina Magnesia 360 ml. I think this is too much medication. Any suggestions?
on day 10....today my doctor prescribed me Naproxen for my chronic back pain. I know I could search this, but would rather ask anyone with any experience with it's use. Good idea or not to use after 10 days clean. I dont even know if it's a "mild" narcotic or not, however I believe it's similar to Aleeve. Advice? thanks in advance.
I was taking hydrocodone 10-325 for the last 3 weeks 2 every 4 hours for pain from total knee replacement. I went to doc and he said to start to ween off of them and replace with tylenol for the pain. I didn't understand that weening was the important word. I just wanted to be done and so on tuesday morning at 1:00am this was my last dose. Well needless to say I started having terrible withdrawal symptoms which I didn't even know what was happening.
Two months ago as a pedestrian hit by a drunk driver suffering no broken bones (parking lot at noon, low speed) but severe right knee and leg injuries. Hydrocodone taken every 4 hours the 500mg tab with Naproxen twice daily. Two weeks ago started having pain in upper right quadrant radiating through to back. Terrible headaches, severe pain through injured knee area with great upwelling of bruising continued through physical therapy. Waves of nausea.
You also really really need to watch for the acetaminophen (Tylenol; APAP, Paracetamol)) that is in any hydrocodone (Vicodin, Lortab, Norco) or oxycodone (Percocet, Endoce) compounds in the US and many other places.
If you have cirrhosis, no more than 2000-mg/day That is spread out over 24 'running' hours and not taking 2000-mg at 11pm and 2000-mg more at 1am. I know how addicts think from my own personal battles!
And no more than 4000-mg for 'normal' people.
I have come to the conclusion that it might be tied to the naproxen. I think that due to 5+ yrs of vicodin use that he might have compromised his liver & kidneys so that the naproxen is causing his kidneys to be effected. Has anyone else ever experienced any side effects like this from anything containing the naproxen?
I am not diagnosed as rheumatoid arthritis yet sice all the test results are negative, but the doctor thinks i might be catching the early stage of the one. My doctor prescribed Naproxen. I took it and it works for the meantime but does it actually prevent from arthritis to stop the development of the disease or the symptom, or it's just a temporary pain relief?
Tramadol is an agonist/antogonist type of medication and can cancel out the effects of the Hydrocodone. If someone is on Hydrocodone and is dependent on it and takes Tramadol it can cause withdrawal. Many people are unaware of this complication.
He needs to ask his doctor about this and find out what the doctor thinks.
00 PM on Thursday, can I drink at 7:00 PM on Friday even though, according to the half-life, there is still about one-third the amount of naproxen in my system?
And if I took 2 units of naproxen at 7:00 PM, then in the afternoon the next day, I'd still have the equivalent of 1 unit of Naproxen in my system due to half-life metabolization. This would mean that if I drank alcohol that afternoon, it is the same as if I had just taken 1 naproxen on top of whatever I'm drinking. Yes?
I have been taking percocet, oxcontin and any other form of hydrocodone I could get my hands on for the last 3 years. I have a back problem that got me started but as all of you are aware this quickly leads to a life altering sickness where all you can think of is the next pill. I was taking around 30 per day and today I have only taken 3 low dose vics. I am scared to go through WDs and am hoping for any and all advice to make it easier.
v e tried regular otc meds like tylenol and Ibruprofen and in the past nsaids like Toradol and Naproxen. But they just dont seem to relieve the pain. Would you have any suggestions Dr J?? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
One or the other. I find Naproxen the most helpful, as it works more quickly. Aleve is a brand name for OTC Naproxen. Tyelenol is in a different category. Non Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDS) are the ones you want to treat inflammation. Aspirin is also in this class. Again, only use one form of these and not all of them.
Naproxen is just ibuprofen, which is Motrin and Aleve. I would think Celebrex would help a lot more than Naproxen. It can't hurt to ask for it. Naproxen didn't do anything for me, except hurt my stomach. The Celebrex helped a lot, right away.
