Hydrocodone for sciatica

Common Questions and Answers about Hydrocodone for sciatica

vicodin

Avatar f tn Does anyone have any suggestions to help with sciatica? My little girl has been pushing on my nerve since i was 11 weeks.
Avatar m tn I had sciatica for sometime and found it crippling. During the course of a check-up my GP did a check for Vitamin B12 levels and I was very low. B12 is the only vitamin that cannot be directly absorbed by the body and requires a gland in your stomach to emit an enzyme to allow it to absorb. As you get older this gland can stop working. They will do a blood test looking for an "intrinsic factor" to see if your stomach is capable of absorbing B12.
Avatar n tn My sciatica nerve has bothered me since my 2nd child. My doctor prescribed my hydrocodone for th pain on as needed. I was wondering if this was safe for the baby. I have been to baby check ups and the baby is fine. Any comments or questions?
Avatar m tn This only began after being on hydrocodone medication for a back injury for a month -- 10mg 4 days a week for about 4 weeks. Hydrocodone might have caused an acid imbalance in my stomach which coffee triggers to cause the issue. However, eating lots pizza or other food you think would cause the same problems, does not produce the same results. I also had a fever recently while on hydrocodon, no cold symptoms, just a high fever. I decided to stop taking it.
Avatar m tn Hi Steve, no your right you really shouldn't ever take someone elses medication. that said taking too much aspirin is also dangerous, Tylenol would be a much better alternative as long as you stay under 2000 mg daily. Yes it certainly does sound very much like sciatica, I have had this for years. Question is have you injured your lower back or is it possible you have degenerative disk disease? Or an inflamation that puts pressure on the sciatic nerve? Are you having any lower back pain?
603946 tn?1333941839 My platelet count is low. I have severe sciatica and was told to discontinue use of all Acetaminophen, Aleve, Ibuprofen, Aspirin. You gotta be kidding..... I do have meloxicam on hand. Thinking maybe one meloxicam with a dose later in the day of hydrocodone 7.5/500 acet and soma at bedtime Anyone have advice? And I do not know the platelet count. I did ask on a return phone call to the nurse....no reply in 2 days. Can't be too low I don't think, I've never had this happen.
Avatar f tn They are hard to find but typically the doctor you would visit to get your MMJ license renewed would prescribe the opioids or refer you to another doctor that is MMJ Friendly. Another option is for you to ask the doctor for a prescription for Marinol...it is synthetic THC. I should mention that when my mother was dying from cancer, she said that the Marinol wasn't helping her eat, it was only the real marijuana that helped but things may be different for you. Good luck.
Avatar n tn ve been on gabapentin(neurontin)1400-1800mg for abt 5 years for sciatica...and other nerve pain. It has been a God send for me allows me to sleep at night without that throbbing pain. gabapentin is an anti-seisure medication, there are others in this catagory that I'v read that are also good.
Avatar n tn I have been down and fightin sciatica for going on six months so I am looking for help for chronic sciatica. I only have a small tear and bulging disc. after I Had a cyst removed that was on my spine. No other issues according to MRI. My condition should be an easy cure but for some reason is not healing. Open to Any suggestions? Thanks!
Avatar m tn I have a friend who had sciatica, he did a form of physical therapy, some yoga type exercises for a while, and it freed up the trapped nerve that was carrying on down in his leg. So, if the MRI shows that's what you got, despite opposing findings, docs will usually start out with the moderate route, of physical therapy, keeping your medicines in place, and if you don't get relief that way, perhaps they might offer surgery to free up that nerve.
514704 tn?1228312637 i just had a opportunity to look at your posts, and i hope you are going to an ortho or a neuro, we seem to be in just about the same situation only i am about to have my second surgery on my back if workers comp doesnt give me a problem paying for it. that pain in your leg will be referred to as sciatica, i too an taking hydrocodone and flexeril, and if you drive you need to be extra careful while taking it.
Avatar m tn I'm 20 years old and have been diagnosed with herniated discs and "degenerative disc disease" I'm working with conservative treatment because I don't think surgery would be good for my case. I have been prescribed Hydrocodone (Lortabs) and have used them at night when the pain gets bad. I also have sciatica, which is dulling my quality of life, at least for the time being.
Avatar f tn hi Punkie..........thats a good question and I have the same pain from the buttocks to the hip and radiating to the thigh and down my legs..worse on left side........I have 2 problems and this pain could be caused by either one doctor says one thing the other says different so gets very confusing. 1. it very well could be caused by the bursitis in our hips, although from what I understand that pain should only radiate as far as the thighs and not necessarily down the whole leg. 2.
Avatar n tn I am 13wks pregnant, the pain is so severe at times I take a hydrocodone 5/500 for the pain. I try to limit myself to 1 or 2 a week. Is this going to harm my baby?
Avatar f tn I have recently been prescribed to Robaxin, Vicodin and Gabapentin for back pain/sciatica. Anyone have experience with these meds?
Avatar m tn This had been going on for over a year (with the insurance co.) as they refused to help. I was layed up for almost a year and taking percocetes and vicodans. On the day of my right to obtain my items from my house, I could not afford nor did I have any friends to help me pack so Imy two boys 12 and 15 helped. I took 5 percocetes and 2 vicodans, wrapped my back with heat pads and rubbed my legs and back with capsacian and took many breaks.
1415174 tn?1453243103 I have seen my doctor about a month ago and have sciatica. For sciatica I am only on Tylenol and Ibuprofen. I am getting pain still and very locked up. I also take Clonazepam and 10 mg Amitriptyline for cyclic vomiting syndrome (or abdominal migraine). I have been on the same dose for 30 years. I read that taking a higher dose than I am on of Amitriptyline can help back pain. Do you recommend that I ask my doctor for a higher dose to try? Do you think it would bring the pain down some?
Avatar n tn I know several people with serious pain that were on compunds similar to yours, that had better luck when they switched to Fentanyl patches for long-acting relief and something like hydrocodone, or maybe even fentanyl suckers for breakthrough pain. Best of luck to you.
Avatar f tn unfortunately you have been maxing out on a lot of em, which means its best for you to have a long term taper program, because of teh amount you have been on. try, getting to ten for 3 days, then 8 for 3 days, then 6 for 4days, then 5 for 3 days, then 4 for 3 days, then down to 3 for 4 days, now 2 for 4 days, then down to one for 3 days. then time to jump ship all together. I would say thats about the best approach, or you can shorten it, make it faster........
Avatar f tn I have been taking hydrocodone 10-325 for about 3 months now. I started at about 3-4 a day but now I am up to 6 a day. I am almost finish with my Rx and I want to wean myself off. I have not been on them long and I already see a difference in my behavior. That is the reason I need to wean off quickly. I had lumbar surgery and the pain is gone from the sciatica and from the surgery. I don't see the need to take them anymore but I am addicted.
Avatar n tn I'm wondering how long folks waited to have surgery for sciatica. I'm at the 3-month mark and my symptoms are still excruciating. I'm a very active person and can't stand my new almost sedentary lifestyle. Any thoughts?
Avatar f tn Is the lab detecting minor amounts of hydrocodone -- then this is normal for codeine metabolism. But if it is detecting a therapeutic dose of hydrocodone, then its presence can't be due to the metabolism of codeine. Here's a reference for your doctor's use: http://www.wardelab.com/22-2.html#t1 I hope this helps. Best wishes with your pain management routine.
Avatar f tn My nana was prescribed them for pain relief for her sciatica(sp) nerve...She says it does relieve some of her pain I had to talk her into finally seeing a Dr. and getting on some sort of short term or as needed pain meds (she is a side effect freak) meaning she rarely will take anything that is addictive or makes her feel "loopy" as she is on other meds for bi-polar as am I....She takes them only when it's acting up but long story short it was given to her for pain...
Avatar m tn t know enough, but you should post over on the other forums, because no matter what...whether he is taking it for pain or for a high, snorting anything is VERY bad for his health, and can be very dangerous. And it is a very addictive behaviour. Is he taking some of your meds also? Or does he just take his own? I didn;t understand part of what you wrote... so if you post over in the link i put for you, you may get a lot more answers...out of all the addiction forums, it sees the most traffic...
Avatar f tn I, like so many of you, started innocently by taking hydrocodone for chronic back pain. I have 1 bulging disc, 1 herniated disc, sciatica and degenerative arthiritis in my lower back. I have also been referred to a neurosurgeon for nerve impingement. :( I am 34 yeras old with a wonderfully blessed life, however Hydrocodone has ruled my life for 2 years now.
