Hydrocodone for period cramps

Common Questions and Answers about Hydrocodone for period cramps

Avatar n tn He prescriped Klonipin for me in tapering dosages over a 7-10 day period. I took Immodium AD for my upset stomach. (The stomach problems lingered for about 2-3 weeks after I had detoxed, but I did NOT have pain, and the Immodium AD helped until that period passed). The Klonipin took away ALL of the muscle aches during the detox period. (I was really dreading the muscle aches since I had experienced them many, many times before when I would try to go "cold turkey" off the drug).
1105739 tn?1258042617 I woke up this morning having a bad stomach ache that resembles the feeling of having cramps without having my period. I have also been experiencing acid reflux for about 2 months straight now. I am taking RANITIDINE 300 mg once a day. I also take Fluoxetine 20 mg Hydrocodone 5/500 and Doxycycline for possible case of PID. (waiting for tests to come back on that) I also experienced this last week with a very tender to the touch lower abdomen.

Avatar n tn I've been doing hydrocodone/apap 10/650 for 3 years now. I started out only doing 10 a month and have worked up to 10 a day! I recently lost my job (due in part to Sept.11) so I no longer have health insurance and, of course, not enough money coming in to support this habit. I was no longer getting "high" on this amount and just do not want to continue this whole addiction anyway. I tried to find Thomas's detox recipe but could not.
Avatar n tn I realy enjoy interacting with those that are experiencing, have experienced or are just interested in addiction to drugs, more specifically, Hydrocodone. You see, I was a vicodin addict for about 12 years give or take a year. I was taking 8 5/500's at a time in about 3 hour intervals. I could tell you everything about 5/500's, 7.5/750's and 10/650's. I knew how long a bottle of 30 would last and when I would have to go back and ask for more.
Avatar n tn I'm not sure if I'm the right place, but I have been tacking hydrocodone for years for chronic headaches... I did the route of several doctors who were not much help, then a RUDE neurologist who thought I was just searching for drugs.. I got the point where only vicodin worked, then switched to Norco (less tylenol). And before that I had trigger/novocaine I think shots in my occipital muscles in the base of my neck. Anyway, I'm not taking several Norco's every day.
Avatar n tn I have been taking hydrocodone for about 2 1/2 years at an increasing rate, ending up with the 7.5 strength and about 18-20 per day. I do have severe arthitis pain and am a 51 year old woman. I have to cut down and recently cut down to 10 a day and have experienced physical and emotional withdrawal symptoms. I have some clonidine and don't know how much to take for withdrawal. What is the recommended dosage.
Avatar n tn I am 20yo and have been taking hydrocodone for a year and a half. I recently came to the realization that I am in fact addicted. I have tried to stop many times (each time gets harder) but I haven't been able to quit all together. I was taking 6-8 10/500 a day. The last few months I have gotten down to 1-2 pills a day. Then I had a stressful couple of months and went up to 2-4. Now, my life is starting to get back in order, and I finally told my boyfriend...
Avatar n tn I take calcuim magnesium at bedtime, then i also take, valerian root, passion flower, melatonin, Hylands Calms Forte, Hylands leg cramps, Hylands restless legs, and advil pm. I may awake for an hour or 2 in the night, then i'll take more of the calms forte, and drift back off. I know it sounds like alot, but ive been preparing for a while to detox, and so far everything together has seemed to help! Best to you!! congrats on 9 days, thats big!!!!
Avatar n tn Ever since I can remember I have had horrible cramps whenever I got my period. I have been prescribed all sorts of medications for them from Celebrex to hydrocodone(turns out that I am hyper-sensitive to it). At the moment my prescription is 4 200mg Ibuprofen every 3-4 hours when the cramps start. Could it be something besides just cramps?
Avatar n tn Oh, what a terrible time for this to happen to you. I can't imaging having to go through with having to do what you do. I hope that it doesn't get much worse for you, but you still have some of the drug in your system, so the chances are it may get much worse. I pray it doesn't, and I hope you can get thru this. I truly feel for you right now, but maybe being busy and not laying around thinking about will help with the withdrawals. I wish you all the best, and I'll be praying for you.
Avatar n tn Im 33 years old and I have been taking pain pills ( lortab, percocet, darvocet, ect ) for close to 15 years now. Im up to taking 10-15 today depending on what mg they are. Im wanting to quit. I tried to quit a few years back c/t and went thru serious withdrawl symptoms, even had a seizure. I have been taking 7.5 and 10mg lortab on a daily basis. I am not so much scared of the w/d as the effect that it has made on my body.
378923 tn?1199527350 and this **** does controll my life. i was up to about 20 a day for a while. but for a i say the past year i have only been taking 5 to 7 10/500 hydrocodones a day, witch is considerably better. but i am constantly taking them , and i got cut off of them a while back so now i get them however i can. people give them to me i buy them, or whatever the case may be. I honestly think i might break down if this continues. theres all kind of thing that bug me about having this addiction.
Avatar f tn I took a couple of muscle relaxants here and there for the cramps. Lots of hot baths, but it was hard because I couldn't take hot baths if there was no one to watch my daughter. She loves to take baths with me, and I had my baths too hot for her. I slept every chance I could, my husband was awesome, even though he thought I just had a virus. Thank you all for your great advice. If this hadn't work, my plan was to get into a clinic that dispenses Subutex.
Avatar n tn I have been taking them for awhile now at first I was just taking them for really severe period cramps each month which really wasn't a prob I was only taking 5 a month. Then I started with severe back pain, thats how I got hooked. I haven't quit completely. I tapered down. There was no way I could go to rehab I am esteemed in my community. So I have tapered down alot only 2 a day 1 in the Morning and 1 at night.
Avatar n tn Hi: I am a 45 yo male who has taken hydrocodone for 6 months for headaches along with zoloff and ambiem for depression. My useage was up to 7 15/100, formulated pills per day. I began taking as many as 4-5 at a time 3 months ago. After several attempts and help from my wife I was able to taper down and quit 2 weeks ago. Best thing I have ever done, may have saved my marriage and job. Most of the worst withdrawl effects are gone now except for a change in sleep patterns.
Avatar f tn tell your doctor you want to try something stronger. I know alot of my friends who have this problem take hydrocodone for a few days every month for their extreme pain. make certain your doctor knows the amount of pain your in and how it does effect your life on those days.
541558 tn?1214053575 *This has been going on and off for a year* I was once taking 20 mg of hydromorphone for a month straight on and off for about a few months and each time I've ended up quitting for 7-10 days then find myself bored and wanting to get OPIATED AGAIN. My eyes are watering, i feel weak, my stomach is in knots, and i psychologically crave the drug.
403399 tn?1201836695 but youll know way down in the bottom of your heart whether youll stick to being clean, youll need a sponsor for rough times, and if your addiction is bad enough you may need to be on suboxone for a short period or for some along period(i was on 32mgs for 8mths), some do the 21 day detox with the sub and it works great and they dont relapse others fall back into the cycle of addiction suboxone's drug is buprenorphine, a unique mixed agonist/antagonist opioid, iit last a really long time, two day
Avatar f tn So today is day 4 off hydrocodone 10-325. I have been taking it for almost a year but the last few months i have been increasing my intake from 2/3 a day to 5 a day. However, this last week i took a months worth (60) in a week. Once i ran out i knew i was addicted and couldn't continue this medication. So needless to say i stopped "cold turkey". I have severe cramps in my legs, vomiting, diarrhea,NO SLEEP and my emotions are so out of whack.

Avatar n tn I hope that the posts I've ready of cramps for several months are not the case for me and that the period is non existant or very light since I've been lucky to avoid that over the last 8 years. I will repost to this group in a few months to provide more information to the girls wishing to get this- I hope it was a good choice!
3119293 tn?1342054132 I took hydrocodone for five years....usually three a day, sometimes four, and very rarely five. So, like you, I didn't use as many as some people, but I still had withdrawal when I quit them. I felt lousy, didn't sleep for two nights in a row, no energy, couldn't hold my feet still at night....I guess that is like restless leg syndrome (RLS). I only had one bout of diarrhea. I drank water constantly....all day and night.
Avatar f tn Hi & help! I have been taking Hydrocodone for 5 yrs. now for migraines. I am not insured due to the cost of health insurance since I am self-employed. My mother (God bless her) was my supplier. She did not mean any harm, just trying to help me with my migraines. Due to her having wonderful health insurance (3 coverages) my mother was able to have unlimited quantities of Hydrocodone due to previous back surgeries and dealing with elderly pains.
1077186 tn?1261168537 I was taking norcos(10mg/325 hydrocodone). I was on them for a little over a year the first time I quit. I was taking anywhere from 6-12 a day. I just went cold turkey one day when i couldnt find any and realized I was one of those "addicts" you read about and decided to quit!! It really took a couple weeks to get over the depression and anxiety. I used GABA any time I felt anxious and it seemed to help take the edge off(you can find it at GNC or Rite Aid.
808644 tn?1238848733 jsut a day or 2 more, ya? husband went for immodium etc, what about valarian for sleep......my symptoms just like everyone elses'.....hell. shivering sweating then hot nauseated, diarrea feel raw inside, feel like i have lock jaw my muscles are so tight. can't sleep. forcing myself to eat & drink.....hip ssurgery nothing compared to this & it was bad.
Avatar n tn She might prescribe hydrocodone for you; check with her. It's a good painkiller (I have been prescribed it after dental surgery). Good luck!
Avatar f tn I've NEVER been prescribed any pain pills other then for dental work. I admit, I've taken them for my period cramps and guess what, they work wonderfully. I tell the doctors this, they say they can't prescribe hydrocodone for period pain. Obviously I'm not addicted, heck they can run drug tests on me if they want. I don't see why a doctor cannot prescribe me a couple pills a month - or in my case every couple months since I'm irregular. And thats that.
