I am addicted to hydrocodone, i will be given a drug test to check for opiates and i was wondering how long will it take to get this painkiller out of my system, and what can i do to make it happen faster. also i want to know what the easier way to get off them is?
My brother says he recently weaned himself off hydrocodone but my mther and I have our doubts. He has agreed to random drug tests. Can anyone recommend a home drug test kit that will detect hydrocodone? If the test says it tests for opiates does that include hydrocodone?

I have severe Gastroparesis and am on GJ feeding tubes. I was in pain management, but got kicked out because hydrocodone wasn't showing up in my system. I did a DNA test and I don't metabolize opioids and with all the liquids that run through my body with feeds, I feel like it dilutes my urine. Is there anyone that can help me document or verify this. I'm distraught.
Darvocet is a complete different drug than hydrocodne or ultram. I do not see how this is possible unless thee was a mix up or you took a darvocet and forgot.
It all depends on the test they use. If they use a basic urine test that only test for opiates then they will test the same. However, if they use a lab for testing it will be able to tell what meds you took.
I can totally understand family issues, etc. But when going to a pain clinic those rules have to be followed. Pain docs are the most watched docs out there. So there license is on the line which means many times they will fire the patient to protect their license...
However normally you can take an opiate with a NSAID. Hydrocodone tablets usually contain acetaminophen (Tylenol). Does your hydrocodone contain apap and if so how much?
Normally I would suggest you ask a pharmacist but on Christmas you will be hard pressed to find one. You may call your local ER and ask that question. When I worked in ER it was common to receive those types of questions.

A certain portion of hydrocodone is metabolized to hydromorphone, so if you were doing a urine drug test on somebody who was taking hydrocodone you might also see hydromorphone in that person's urine. That's important to know.", to bring into your doctor and hopefully clear your name. Good luck.

Why does everyone get so friggin uptight when someone just wants to know how long it stays in the system. Who cares if they are quitting or not, or have a upcoming drug test or whatever. Theres no reason we shouldn't answer the question. We are here not to judge, right?

I believe I did say they were the same drug, unless they were looking for that certain drug in a lab test they would come up as the same drug!
As for my test they do and will show illeagal drugs, I have seen people arrested at the dr because they have shown cocaine ect. I apprciate that you have lab knowledge but this is new tesing cups that will show different drugs such as differ from hydro and oxy.

Normally the answer would be no but there are a lot of variables that come into drug screens. A blood test should obviously be accurate. Urine drug screens done in mass, such as through a PM Clinic has a higher incident of inaccurate results.
Studies have been conducted by reputable sources that indicate these tests can be as high as 60-70% inaccurate. The largest factor is Human Error! Much goes into the final results of urine testing such as an appropriate chain of custody.....

Using HYDROcodone together with doxylamine may increase side effects such as dizziness, drowsiness, and difficulty concentrating. Some people may also experience some impairment in thinking and judgment. You should avoid or limit the use of alcohol while being treated with these medications. Also take the medicines at different intervals.
Are you taking any other medication with the hydrocodone? I remember back in the day, when i would exceed my dosage I would have nightmares! I hated them, which made me scared to sleep. It just worries me that you are taking them to sleep!! How many are you taking a day? I am not going to judge you, i was in the same boat before.

the dr. that said i failed his drug test threw papers at me and cursed me ,he started me on opanaer40mgs.in sept08, he did not start me out on a lower dose first.i am worried about withdrawls i have copd and hep.c in remission, should i have ever taken this drug?should he have given me something more than hydrocodone10/500 to come off of this med. i know that i am not susposed to have that much acedimine, what do u suggest i do about this? this hydro.
Absolutely - a drug test WILL show the difference between Hydrocodone and Oxycodone. That's one reason that so many people have lost their PM - Pain Management - Doctors and no longer have any Pain Management to help them with their pain.
It's VERY important that you take the medication that your Doctor prescribes to you AND that you take it ONLY the way that is prescribed!! Otherwise, you will wind up in trouble.
I want to be realistic.I am 4 days cold turkey from hydrocodone. Its been pretty miserable. Its fairly easy for to me get clean. Staying clean is my problem. I have battled addiction for 20 years.I have a chronic health issue. I know one day at a time. But staying clean for the rest of my life seems impossible. I am concerned. Right now I am really craving the drug. Any suggestions on long term sobriety?
