I just started on Zohydro ER because the idea of not taking acetaminophen with hydrocodone was tempting. (There's a Black Box warning about the acetaminophen in Vicodin).
The first day I started the Z. (about 5 days ago) I got less pain relief and much more pain than I had with 5/375 Vicodin! That's seems totally wrong but it happened. The dose of the Z is the same as I got for the number of 5/375s I took per day.
Anyone else on Z. and how do you like it? Any side effects?
I would go with the oxycodone (percocet) over the hydrocodone (vicodin), because it's possible to get the oxycodone in it's pure form in a pill without the tylenol in it. The -cet suffix on the percocet is what denotes the acetominophen or Tylenol. In the generic form, it would give the mg strength of the pill (ie, 5/500) and then say APAP on the label.
Probably not an ideal situation to take meds that are expired.

I took bout 200-300 mg per day for a bout a week. I noticed the side effects difficulty staying asleep and muscle tightness as well as diarrhea initially. Then toward the end of the week I started to have painful sores in my mouth and swelling of my face and throat and neck lymph nodes, pain in the nodes as well. Then I got online and gasp at the things ive read! I cold turkey stopped on wednesday june 27th after reading bout mouth sores side effects.

I've been given a bottle of Hydrocodone after getting my wisdom teeth surgically removed. I've only taken it 3 times because i believe i've come to the realization that i get really bad nausea from it, and have already thrown up 3 times (from one-two doses). I've followed the instructions on the bottle, but have discontinued use since yesterday, and since then have been taking Advil Liqui-Gels, but i am still very nauseated. How long would this nausea tipically last?

If its hydrocodone it will be stated as a xx(hydrocodone) - xx (apap/asprin). Doses of tylenol ranged from 325/500/750 and asprin i'm not sure (Assume only 200mg but I have no clue.They come in liquid suspension and tablet form and rarley without a tylenol/asprin additive. I'm taking percocet which is a whole different Active ingrediant. From my experience a lot more dangerous than hydrocodone. Its approx. 1.5x stronger than lortab in analgesia terms.
I would say its more likely he would need to go to the hospital for APAP toxicity than hydrocodone overdose. APAP (tylenol) is mixed with the hydrocodone and is not good for the liver in high doses.
Just tell him not to go crazy and make sure he doesn't mix with alcohol or other drugs (besides weed), and he should remain alive. Might end up with a wicked addiction though!
The hydrocodone is a a very strong pain medication. The butal-apap 325 caff is an analgesic, barbiturate, and stimulant normally used to treat migraines. If you had only lost interest in the game, I would think you just gotten burned out playing it, but since you have no interest in life in general, you may well be depressed. I don't think you had "episodes" of depression, just times when you realized it was there. In actuality you've had it for awhile.
However normally you can take an opiate with a NSAID. Hydrocodone tablets usually contain acetaminophen (Tylenol). Does your hydrocodone contain apap and if so how much?
Normally I would suggest you ask a pharmacist but on Christmas you will be hard pressed to find one. You may call your local ER and ask that question. When I worked in ER it was common to receive those types of questions.

I was prescribed Mupirocin for a non-healing nasal ulcer. I used it for about 2 days then woke up with a bad headache today from the get go. I've tried everything I can. I have taken Tylenol TWICE, Hydrocodone with Acetaminophen in it, nasal spray, a Breathe Right nasal strip (since I do have severe sinus problems.) NOTHING has worked or given any relief.

I had many side effects. Headaches, severe heartburn accompanied with hiccups. Blisters and discoloration all over my tongue and back of my throat. By day 6 my feet and ankles were badly swollen and it was getting difficult to swallow. My doc said I was having a systemic reaction and to quit immediately. We are going to try Subutex now and I hope it works.
On all the info I found, the only side effect I had that was listed was headache.
I am a seventy-plus year old man who has been living with COPD for a long time and have been taking hydroco/APAP 5.5mg. for back problems. Lately I have noticed more fluid in my lungs and more wizzing as well as shortness of breath. Could it be caused by the aspirin in hydrocodone? My pharmacist has suggested that I ask my doctor to change me to the 5.3mg.or the 10.3mg. which have less aspirin. Would the change help? Thank you.
