Hydrocodone and pregnancy

Common Questions and Answers about Hydrocodone and pregnancy

492921 tn?1321289896 I know how addictive hydrocodone is. I have taken it for years here and there I don't like it and most the time it just sits in my cabinet. I only take it when the pain gets severe. It's Sunday and my Dr never really gets back to you in a timely fashion on the weekends. I guess I'll just wait to talk to him in the morning after I see my chiropractor.
Avatar n tn if you wanted to get pregnant that is YOUR choice, and i have a 14month old and the prescribed me to take vicodin during my pregnancy and my baby is gorgeous and extremely advanced in al of her milestones.... she didn't have ANYTHING wrong with her when she was born, and all of the nurses actually kept telling me how perfect her skin color was.... and after my c-sectiont they gave me NORCOS while i was breastfeed, and she is STILL fine...
Avatar f tn Pain meds can be used quite safely during pregnancy if you take them as prescribed and you and your OB are on the same page about it...that's the biggest key. As long as you and your OB keep an open dialogue about your pain and how you're treating it, you should be absolutely fine. A lot of people are under the impression that you can take nothing but tylenol while pregnant and that's, while ideal, an out-dated line of thought.
Avatar f tn My best friend has been pregnant for 28 weeks and has been taking hydrocodone illegally for the entire pregnancy. Shes been struggling to stop and she's cut down to a half a day because she's trying to quit. I keep urging her to stop and I just recently found outthey drug test newborns in arkansas. Is this all newborns? Will it be in the babies system of she stops now? will they take her baby from her? I would hate to see that happen to her. Please answer ASAP.
1778305 tn?1314483931 When the doc said I needed to wait the second surgery out but they would put me on hydrocodone daily until my son came (14 weeks later) for pain I was stunned. I asked about risks and I was only told that the baby may be born addicted to the drug itself. The doctor will tell you if there is a problem talk to your ob if you are worried and maybe between the three of you you can find some sort of alternative for the pain.
Avatar f tn It has been 2 years since our last pregnancy and I feel stronger and healthier. I went through 2.5 years of Chemo for my severe type of Lupus and have been off of that since 2006. I take many medicines and have had to get off of 5 in preparation for this pregnancy (which to be honest I will find out within in days and I feel like I am!). One of the ones I was told to get off of was Hydrocodone.
783714 tn?1237997265 I am having the amniocentesis next friday and by then I will be 20 weeks.I have been taking hydrocodone for 2 years. Avatar f tn I hope their prescribed but things last a lot longer in their system sense they can't poop or anything. my friend smoked weed through her half her pregnancy and I'd be really surprised if she got to take the baby home i haven't heard from them sense they had it. i smoked a week or two before my missed period weed that is but after that positive pregnancy test i haven't done one thing and I'm still not sure that the baby wouldn't be born with weed in its system.
Avatar f tn Hey everyone!! Well im 7 weeks pregnant and take hydrocodone [i have a scrip] I take like 6 to 8 a day. I have my OB app in like 2 days and very worried about whats going to happen. Avatar f tn Im sure if he have them to you is safe and wont harm the baby, during all my 2 past pregnancy and including this one, i always avoided any kind of meds... just because i didnt want to take the risk...
Avatar f tn I have read a ton of posts on this site about vicodin use during pregnancy and all say to taper down during the last trimester so the baby will not be born addicted. Also, with me taking this amount for the last 2 months, will my withdrawal symptoms be severe? I am extremely worried I have caused any sort of damage to my baby boy and I am worried about stopping and having these terrible withdrawal symptoms that I read about and those alone harming the baby.
Avatar m tn Maybe you should go over to the Pregnancy Community and ask the forum there. This is the Addiction forum. Good luck..
325477 tn?1250551309 Hi girls, I have a gal bludder disease and every week I have to take hydrocodone 2 pills to reduce the severe pains...I am very concerned about the baby....I already had 1 m/c and now I want to wait to see the heartbeat before going under surgery to take the gal bludder out...I asked 2 doctors about safety of this pill and they say it should not affect the baby...but then I read different posts and some think it will definately hurt the baby..... ANY SUGGESTIONS?
Avatar f tn So as long as you have good doctors who support you and know what is going on and you have a healthy pregnancy, the baby should be fine!
Avatar f tn The doctor put me on hydrocodone 5/325 for pain and said it wont cross the placenta, and its safe for the baby. Has anyone else had to take this while being pregnant.
Avatar f tn I just found out I was pregnant. I have been on 2 10/325 3 times a day since December since I broke my kneecap and found out I have a very rare wrist condition I was supposed to have surgery on on the 22 nd. I also have ADHD and been on Ritalin. I have weened myself down by a half a pill a day. Yesterday was the last one and I feel terrible. My back hurts I have no energy and I can't think straight. How long will this last and how bad will it be to come off the Ritalin?

Avatar n tn I have had a lot of pain (some very severe) with this pregnancy and my new doctor refuses to give me hydrocodone (or offer me any kind of help for the pain) even though I have been told that it is perfectly safe to take during pregnancy. I don't know what to do. Is there anything that i can do to help me through this pregnancy?
Avatar f tn I just have a few worries though. I am addicted to hydrocodone 10 mgs and in the past year I have been pregnant 3 times. Everytime I find out I am pregnant I quit taking the pills cold turkey, but I always end up miscarrying. Are the withdrawals from the hydrocodone causing me to miscarry? What should I look into to get off of these so I can go on to have a healthy pregnancy the next time? Please help me out, any information anyone can give me is greatly appreciated!!
