Avatar m tn Based on my analysis of blood tests, my 70-year old aunt currently has Stage 3b CKD and is actually close to Stage 4. Back in 8/2008, her GFR was 49.5. A year later, it's 32. This is a loss of 17.5ml/min over 12 months. Every test I looked at, her BUN (22-23), Creatinine (1.3-1.6) and Choloride (112) are elevated. I suspect it was out-of-control hypertension which caused her kidney function to deteriorate. I measured her BP at 200/110 several occasions over the weekend.
1398693 tn?1343684738 Thank you so much for the information I knew that there are medications that didn't deplete potassium but I couldn't find which ones. right now I'm taking hydrochlorothiazide and Lisinopril and when I started to take the hydrochlorothiazide I kept ending up in the hospital because my potassium level kept dropping mainly because I have had some problems with diarrhea so no matter how much potassium rich foods I hate I couldn't keep my potassium level any higher than 3.
Avatar m tn Both BUN and creatinine are metabolic waste products, and the healthy kidneys keep them range at a normal level. If kidneys can’t play their job optimally, excess creatinine and blood urea nitrogen will build up in the body. Clinically, 5.0mg/dl of creatinine and 60mg/dl of BUN are two indicators of renal failure. To prevent so high BUN and creatinine level, the best method is to control them as soon as you find them just higher than the normal (9-20mg/dl for BUN, 0.5-1.2mg/dl for creatinine).
Avatar n tn I have been taking Lisinopril and Hydrochlorothiazide (HTCZ) for high blood pressure since May 2007. Recently I have a feeling that the Hydrochlorothiazide is not working as it used to be. Will HCTZ lose its effectiveness after a certain number of years? Anyone know the answer or having similar experience, please let me know. Thank You In Advance For Your Reply.
Avatar n tn My MD put me on Hyzaar for hypertension. Previously I had been on Cozaar but she changed it to Hyzaar for the added benefit of the diuretic. I noticed my drug company autosubbed generic Losortan. The bottle doesn't say anything about hydrochlorothiazide being included. Could I be getting the wrong thing, or should I assume some form of hydrochlorothiazide is included?
Avatar m tn I AM TAKING HYDROCHLOROTHIAZIDE 25MG. I HAVE BEEN TAKEN THEM FOR 3 YRS NOW. THIS MEDICATION JUST STOP WORKING. MY DOCTOR WANTS TO ADD ANOTHER MEDICATION FOR ME TO TAKE. DOES THIS EVER GET BETTER. STAYS THE SAME OR DO THE MEDICATION YOU ARE TAKE ALWAYS GET ADJUSTED. UNTIL YOU ARE TAKEN 10 DIFFERENT MEDICATION. This discussion is related to <a href='/posts/show/251929'>blood presure medication</a>.
Avatar f tn I will be transitioning to propanolol 20 mg (and hydrochlorothiazide) twice daily soon - my doctor wants me to transition by taking propanolol - 1/2 of 20 mg twice a day for one week and then the full 20 mg twice daily. Why? Won't that cause rebound hypertension? Thanks.
Avatar m tn Recently, I got my lab results back from my annual physical (my first) and was told that my creatinine and BUN were elevated. Creatinine was 2.3mg/dL (NR 0 - 1.70) and BUN was 21.3 (NR 7.0 - 18.00). I feel well and have no significant symptoms at all. I must add that I am a very active recreational athlete (mainly heavy weight-lifting 4 times a week and running 2 - 3 times a week for 30 - 45mins).
Avatar f tn I guess I was wondering if his thyroid issues have anything to do with this and should we go ahead and have him see an endocrinologist since his sugar and calcium are high and he is hypothyroid which is currently under control. Sorry for the long post and thank you for your time!
Avatar m tn 25mg/dl, so we choose only entecavir since also nitazoxanide made my creatinine 1.2mg/dl i started coq10 that made it 1.1mg/dl and then added fibroguard and it made it 0.8mg/dl, value so low that i never had in my life, in my case it takes 3 weeks to lower creatinine and if i stop creatinine gets slowly to 1.
Avatar f tn This is a follow up to my April 23 posting concerning my severe sweating. Since my doc does not think my problem is thyroid based, I decided to try a different approach. On May 12, I stopped taking HCTZ. I had read that some had had problems with HCTZ and sweating. Gradually, I seemed to have less sweating. Also, the feeling of being hot most of the time seemed to lessen. It is summer, and I do get hot, but others are hot, also. When I do sweat, it seems like a more normal sweat.
Avatar m tn Hello, I was having the numbness and tingling while taking hydrochlorothiazide. I would stop taking it and the numbness/tingle would go away, take it again, and it would come right back. Not sure if he is taking hydrochlorothiazide. They had me on it for edema. I have swelling in my hands and ankles, all tests neg except for CMV. Battling this since April 2008. Hands so swollen, can't open bottles, hold a pen, hold a phone or peel the label off the top of yogurts..ect..
Avatar f tn //www.mayoclinic.org/tests-procedures/creatinine-test/about/pac-20384646 It sounds like the only thing that affects a creatinine test is the kidneys having an issue, not a person taking a pill. If you think the ativan might have actually affected your kidneys, talk to your doctor. The following is a list of possible side effects from ativan, https://www.rxlist.com/ativan-side-effects-drug-center.htm.
Avatar n tn However, this could also be due to some medications such as the combination of lisinopril and hydrochlorothiazide that is used to treat high blood pressure. Lisinopril is in a group of drugs called angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) while Hydrochlorothiazide is in a class of diuretics. Tingling in the hands and feet along with dizziness, headache and cough are some of the effects that are observed in this drug combination.
Avatar f tn I have two large cysts on my left ovary and a blood test revealed that my creatinine level is 96 μmol/l. This is outside the normal range of 45-90 μmol/l for women. I was wondering if there could be a connection.
Avatar f tn Hello All, I have high blood pressure and I have renal panel test done every 4-5 months. This is my 4 time and my results came back with increased creatinine 1.68 ( maximum range 1.4) and my efgr was 48. Bun was within range. Last time when I performed the test 4 months backs the creatinine value was 0.96. My doctor switched me from tribenzor to axor as my bp reading were normal around 110/70. I test my bp at home weekly and they never cross 120/80.
1668318 tn?1306416764 Hi weighing yourself and getting on a diuretic is not testing you. Did she run tests? Do you know??
Avatar m tn However, my BUN and Creatinine stayed within normal levels. I did ask my Cardiologist and my PCP about the eGFR and they both said they were not concerned because my BUN and Creatinine were both normal. I am, however, keeping an eye on the eGFR. I may seek another opinion in the near future. I notice that your Creatinine is elevated. Is your BUN elevated too? Have you discussed this with your doctor? You could always seek the opinion of a specialist, a nephrologist.
Avatar f tn Looking for good new...found out I am pregnant and am taking Lisinopril 10mg. Does anyone have any experience with this?
Avatar m tn Hello, my father has a kidney disorder with the creatinine level is 3.6 mg/dl and bun is 45.4 mg/dl. This is because my father is suffering with high blood pressure, but now by the help of medicine my father can maintain his b/p in normal condition. So plz tell me my father can maintain his creatinine level in normal condition by dieting and taking his medicine regularly.
Avatar m tn I went to my doctor for follow-up on blood tests and abdominal ultrasound results. Everything appeared normal except for a small gallstone. My question is, "Should I be concerned about my blood Creatinine levels of 1.2?" The lab reference shows normal range to be between 0.6 and 1.3, which puts me in the upper normal range. Does this mean I am progressing to renal failure issues? My BUN was in the average normal numbers of 16 and GFR was over 60.
Avatar m tn His values now are at a creatinine of 2.1 and BUN of 115. Energy and will has increased, but he is still not eating on his own and has diarrhea. Has anyone ever heard of the creatinine lowering and the BUN remaining high? Any idea how we can get the BUN down or what may causing it to remain elevated? Our vet is unsure as well.
Avatar m tn Should I ask my doctor about my kidney function? Data: 31 year old male; Blood panel 1 - Creatinine 1.4mg/dL, Protein 8.0 mg/dL, GFR 59.1. Blood panel 2 (~80 days later) - Creatinine 1.5, Protein not tested, GFR 54.6. I'm not a doc, but a quick look indicates that creatinine is high and GFR is low. I'm short of breath regularly (good PFT/no asthma). I also get periodic palpitations associated with tachycardia. I frequently have sleep problems (also have complex sleep apnea).
Avatar f tn I was placed on potassium citrate and hydrochlorothiazide but the medicines have horrific side effects. Also, has anyone experienced elevated blood glucose levels and elevated LFT's after taking these medications?
