humira

Avatar f tn I am suffering from Psoriasis for the last 30 years . What treatment should I take to manage.
Avatar f tn It can be treated but it commonly has recurrences also and there are no home remedies for psoriasis. So a regular treatment is required for this. Treatment options include Ointment and creams containing coal tar, dithranol (anthralin), corticosteroids like desoximetasone (Topicort), vitamin D3 analogues (for example, calcipotriol), and retinoids,Psoralen+UVA and PUVB therapy. Over time, psoriasis can become resistant to a specific therapy.
Avatar f tn About 6 months ago he was diagnosed with Psoriatic arthritis after having his hands and body start crippling his abailities in daily living, and began taking Humira as treatment. Recently he has decided that we can no longer be intimate and we need to separate. He is terrified of getting the herpes infection and believes if he does it will be considerably worse for him and he won't be able to continue the Humira and thus end up crippled.

Avatar f tn Deltasone. This medication also comes under the names listed below. The active ingredient in this medication is Prednisone. Afisolone, Amacin, Antihistalone, Bioderm, Canaural, Cortizeme, Dermipred Your husband should speak with his doctor with regard to prescribing an alternative medication to treat his psoriasis. You could also ask your pharmacist if you can purchase these without a prescription.
Avatar m tn He concluded that the relief (although moderate) provided by the NSAIDs was further evidence for Reactive Arthritis and that I should try Humira. I have been on Humira for about 6 weeks with no effect. If anything, pain has gotten worse (though worsening should probably be attributed to discontinuation of NSAIDs).
Avatar f tn I have been on Humira for psoriasis for approx. 9 mos. now. In the beginning I noticed that I as well had some swelling. I got reading alot about reactions etc. It did say that your body does contain more water which in turn would cause swelling. I myself found that after about 3mos. I had gained weight, not that I couldn't afford to but all the same I did find it a little odd. After reading so much on Humira, I dont' think I've missed a page, it is one of those side effects.

Avatar n tn I also have suffered from psoriasis most of my life.I stopped taking Humira back in September but did take one shot around the end of March. I was also on prednisone the entire month of march. Should my test results make me feel any better or do they mean nothing at this point.
Avatar n tn There are one or two case reports in which people on anti-TNF drugs (although not Humira) had problems with warts that were resistant to treatment and that cleared up when the drug was stopped. Those reports, plus what is known about the components of the immune system responsible for controlling HPV, certainly make it plausible that someone taking Humira might have more prolonged warts/HPV than otherwise.
Avatar n tn I am also taking humira for psoriasis i have seen that that may have caused the shingles but i get conflicting answers i saw my dr yesterday and again all the std's were neg but i don't have the results of hiv yet.
Avatar m tn I had a high risk exposure almost 10 weeks ago. I took one 40mg dose of Humira two to three weeks before exposure. 1.Will that one dose of Humira affect or prolong the production of Hiv antibodies or p24 antigen. 2. I've been having symptoms since week 2 and have gotten worse since. It started with a rash on my torso. some of the rashes looked like purple streaks and some looked like pink spots. they weren't that many and they didn't stay long.
3156104 tn?1357281195 If you have dermatological psoriasis (skin psoriasis), then I would recommend seeing a Dermatologist for treatment. He/she will probably give you prescriptions for topical steroid creams or ointments. Possibly an oral antihistamine prescription will help too. I treated from September 26, 2011 through August 25, 2012, 48 weeks total. I developed psoriasis late in treatment, about week 40 or 42. It first appeared around my eyes, on the eyelids and just below the eyes.

Avatar f tn From the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology “Our results indicate that adalimumab seems to be a safe option in treatment, even for patients with liver cirrhosis.” Best to discuss all medications with your liver specialist even over the counter and herbal supplements.
178275 tn?1197824199 anyone getting Humira, my hubby refuses to pay out of pocket $2000 for starter pack
Avatar n tn I think 2 months discontinuation of Humira would be sufficient, however, due to reduced immunologic response to either inactivated or live YF & Typhoid vaccinations, once Humira treatment is resumed, it would be advisable to stay off it until your return from the destination for which these vaccinations are required before travelling there. This is just my opinion, but discuss it also with your prescribing doctor and have him/her check it out for you.
Avatar f tn The competition does sell versions of it (Remicade and Humira) but those are just as costly. Humira actually would cost me more. I was hoping there was a different class of medications outside those 3 that can do the same job for much less.. Thank you for replying.
775302 tn?1253100505 Remicade worked wonders for my Posriatic Arthritis but I had a side effect that is not common, Muscular Distonia (sp) so I had to stop taking it. I am now on Methortexate, Humira, Arava, prenatals and steriod shots. The Methotrexate makes me sick but seems to help with the rashes. Nothing helps the pain. I am currently not on anything for the Hep C.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with Crohn's 9 years ago. I have been taking Asacol (5-ASA) and Imuran (Azathioprine). Last february I was hospitalized for the first time and was put on prednisone. I am still on prednisone and my body won't let me get off of it. My doctor wants me to start Humira, but I am scared. I don't like reading about the side effects and things that can happen when on that drug. Does anyone have any experience with this drug (Humira)? I would really appreciate it.
1120928 tn?1263190816 My Doctor has not put me on anything yet, she want's me to choose between Humira and Remicade, but the thought of taking either scares me to death because my immune system is already weak.
