humira

Avatar f tn I've been on Enbrel for about 5 years and it has been an extremely good medication for both the psoriasis and the psoriatic arthritis. My concern is what am I going to do now that my husband is retired and my health insurance won't cover the cost. I live in Canada and the cost of this medication is approximately $22,000.00 a year which my husband's company insurance covered but now that he is retired, it will not cover the cost for my lifetime.

Avatar f tn I'm meeting w/my GI doctor at the end of May to discuss the new drugs for beginning treatment and was wondering if the doctor will discuss treatment costs with me or do I need to find this kind of information out myself? If I don't have prescription coverage or co-pays will all expenses be out of pocket or will it be applied to my deductible? I don't have the greatest insurance and don't know what the new meds will cost yet. Any and all information is appreciated!

686769 tn?1236272131 I am still waiting for an answer from the pharmaceutical company on the Humira, as I also have NO insurance. I am on Endocort (steroid with a LOT less side effects than prednisone), Pentassa, Depression meds, Trammadol (pain), percocet (pain), azathioprine 75mg. Still, I am in pain almost daily. Every once in a while I have a good day. I am really having a hard time, mentally and physically. I have always been very active, early to rise and then go go go go...
1218873 tn?1300091216 Over here in the UK, we generally don't know what the cost of tests and drugs are, as they are covered by the NHS. But over the past 12 months I have started to learn a bit of what thing cost, and it appears that even if you go private they are considerabley cheaper than in the US which to me dosen't seem quite right.
Avatar n tn The only issue is I live in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. From what I understand they do not offer those options. I would hate to have to put him down. The total cost of finding out what is wrong is as follows - blood work $550 check-up $130 Endoscopy $1000 Feces test $300...This is outrageous. I wanted to get insurance but he now has pre-existing illness.
572651 tn?1530999357 do indeed make such decisions, the only people in Canada to do so are physicians. In Canada, the government has absolutely no say in who gets care or how they get it. Medical decisions are left entirely up to doctors, as they should be. There are no requirements for pre-authorization whatsoever. If your family doctor says you need an MRI, you get one. In the U.S.
686769 tn?1236272131 My doctor wants me to take a bunch of expensive tests and I feel like I want to wait and see if the Humira kicks in again. Does anybody know if the Humira stays in your system and gets stronger with each dose or does it ware off. Should I treat this flare or wait and see? I hate this!

Avatar m tn d have to have had chicken pox in the past before starting humira in order to have a shingles reactivation.
Avatar f tn Anyone taking humira and feel like they are sick coming down with a cold for a week after injection? Not a full blown cold but the start of one. I feel like this always and this is my 3rd dosage ( counting the starter kit), so I'm new to humira. I've noticed if I'm stressed, I'll even get a sore throat. I know humira suppresses your immune system but are you supposed to feel like you're coming down with something every injection or will this go away with time?
1754908 tn?1312400362 I was diagnosed with RA in 2001. I seem to have side effects with all the treatments my RA doctor has provided. I am allergic to methotrexate. I have problems with prednisone as well. I stopped taking all RA drugs two years ago but try to get by with over the counter meds. I recently discovered Norco 10/325 and it really helps although it is a narcotic. My question is this. How much damage could I do taking only one pill (Norco) per day. Just one pill really helps me. Thanks.
Avatar f tn As you well know Humira is an immuno-suppressive drug , which mainly inhibits TNF (tumor necrosis factor). There's a growing amount of evidence of the development of Autoimmune conditions, related to TNF inhibitors, such as Remicade, Humira and other biologics.
