Avatar m tn I asked if it was ok to take with my HUMIRA and prednisone and was told it was fine. I was injected with the vaccine and became ill within 24 hours and my eyes became seriously inflamed. I sought medical care and saw a Opthamologist who diagnosed Iritis and Uveitis. Six months later my vision has deteriorated and I have considerable floaters. I have been referred to a major medical school, and Eye Institute.
559992 tn?1216169738 turned out to be PMR and my joints were very painful.. could hardly walk.. it was in my feet and ankles, knees, and wrists.. anyway I took celery seed and Ibuprophen.. and it went into remission.. yeah! celery seed.. worked as well as the sterioids that others have been on.. and though I have had a flair up .. so has another person I know with it, who is still on the steriods.. so you might want to at least look into the symptoms.. and see what you think.
Avatar f tn Common side effects of Humira include: upper respiratory tract infection, headache, injection site reaction, skin rash, antibody development, sinusitis, and pain at injection site. Other side effects include: urinary tract infection, abdominal pain, and flu-like symptoms. https://www.drugs.com/sfx/humira-side-effects.html I'd tell your doctor you are experiencing this.
Avatar f tn I have ankylosing spondylitis and just had my first Humira shot 2 days ago. Today I woke up feeling very achy, my nose is stuffy and my throat is scratchy. I don't know if it's allergies, an infection, or a side effect from the Humira. Has anyone else had this happen shortly after starting this drug? I am planning to call my doctor on Monday but just trying to figure out what's going on.
Avatar n tn Is it ok to get the flu shot when on Humira for my Crohns disease. Also what about the H1N1 shot when that comes out can I take that. I also have FSHD muscular dystohy.
Avatar n tn Flu vaccine does not work. But Tamiflu is safe. Rest with plenty of fluids and it shall pass.
Avatar f tn i read that an antibiotic in the flu vaccine (GENTAMICIN) can cause Oscillopsia. if the flu vaccine caused this will it wear off and my sons vision restored to normal? please anyboby have in sight on this? or Oscillosia? He does not have nystagnus. he had mri with normal results. later an exam by neuro-ophtomologist who diagnosed the oscillopsia. he only said this is what he has and this may go away. May go away is not good enough for any parent to hear.
Avatar f tn Well you really dont want to risk getting the flu.
Avatar f tn Hi Suzanne, Getting the Flu (or any other illness) will definitely activate the immune response in our systems and possibly lead to serious exacerbations or flares. We kicked the flu vaccine topic around last fall and came to the concensus that skipping the vaccine is NOT AN OPTION for those of us with MS. The Vaccine that is given is not a live virus, and does not activate the system. The flu mist is live virus, and that is a totally different thing to be avoided.
435139 tn?1255460391 It is recommended that women who are pregnant do get a flu vaccine. I always get the flu vaccine every year and I have never been sick with the flu... ever. But, the reason some people still get sick with "The Flu", even if they have been vaccinated, is because there are like a million different strands of "The Flu". We just generalize and call all of these strands under one name, "The Flu" rather than saying, "I have influenza A3W4". Make sense?
594002 tn?1256303782 I called my lyme dr and asked if getting the flu vaccine and the H1N1 vaccine was safe. She said NO. The risk is great for a relapse and she has strongly advised me against getting even just the H1N1. I am concerned. What if I get it, Could it not be worse than lyme recurrance? I am torn on what to do, Has anyone else gotten the vaccine? any recurrance. Please offer your opinions-thanks!
Avatar f tn im 34 weeks pregnant and just had the flu vaccine today!! Its totally safe when your pregnant to take so....i dont see a problem! They encourage you to take it espically when your pregnant as your immune system is down more!!
Avatar m tn With COVID-19 in our world, and potential vaccine coming up, I had a question about Hashimoto's and how it reacts with vaccines. I have never had the flu shot but am thinking about it this year since this could be a tough year with both the flu and COVID-19 circulating during the winter. I'm curious if anyone has Hashimoto's and takes the flu vaccine, or not, and if any adverse effects?
Avatar f tn Definitely call one of them and they can do a rapid flu test....yes you can still get the flu, even after getting the vaccine...keep hydrated and keep any fever down....but call ME!! Good luck!!
Avatar f tn I would have the flu vaccine and within a week, flu symptoms which then went to my chest and then Pneumonia,,,the final year I had the pneumovax vaccine and ended up in hospital. That was the last time I ever got a flu vaccine or pneumonia vaccine. In regards to the shingles vaccine.....you are being injected with the herpes simplex virus so obviously the Graves antibodies are going to react against it but it is your personal preference whether to have it or not.
572651 tn?1530999357 *bump* to keep this active - there seems to be three major illnesses right now - Influenza strain H3N2 (I think that was the number) - and the flu vaccine is targeted toward that strain and is 62% effective. They say Tamiflu does help with the symptoms and shortens the disease course if taken in the first two days. A strain of norovirus (think cruise ship disease) - I think that is what my husband experienced recently and he was violently ill but it only lasted one day.
Avatar n tn I have opted this year to have both normal flu ,and Swine Flu vaccinations. I think it is a personal choice. I think you need to decide for yourself. I think with an immunosuppressed body that the consequences of getting any flu is far worse than any other side effect. I think there will always be a minority who will not tolerate the vaccine. When you look at how many millions of people died BEFORE vaccines became available, it makes you realise that modern medicine has come a long way.
518117 tn?1429276273 Im set up on Tuesday for the flu and pneumonia vaccine. I will have them call me when the H1N1 is available. My 9 month old will also get this vaccine. Im wondering if my 18yr old who has asthma will be at the top of the list to get this vaccine too. Luckily her asthma is very very mild but I still want her protected.
792540 tn?1285186997 I decided not to get it and hope that I made the right decision, I feel as though I did. My friend was 34wks and her doctor made her get the vaccination. A week later she got really sick for two weeks. It started with fatigue and ended with her in the hospital due to dehydration from vomitting and going into preterm labor. Luckily they stopped labor after fluids and baby and her are both fine. They told her it wasn't from the vaccine but I always have doubts.
Avatar m tn This flu is transmitted MUCH easier than Hep C. There are at least two locations in Canada where the schools have been shut down due to the number of persons who have been hit with the H1N1 flu. They are trying to stop the spread of it. If you don't catch it, you can't get sick from it OR die from it. There is a vaccine for the flu and none for Hep C. Comparing Hep C to this flu is like comparing apples and kumquats.
649848 tn?1534633700 “They may even think the vaccine gave them the flu, but that’s not true — it depressed their immune system and then they caught the flu.” Mercury overstimulates the brain for several years, says Dr. Blaylock, and that activation is the cause of Alzheimer’s and other degenerative diseases. One study found that those who get the flu vaccine for three to five years increase their risk of Alzheimer’s disease 10-fold.
Avatar m tn statistically 1 out of every 2-3 of us has hsv1 and 1 out of every 4-5 has hsv2 - a lot of folks who take humira, are already going to have herpes whether they know it or not! Of course you also can contract herpes simplex, either orally or genitally, while taking humira too. It also can cause shingles to occur - you'd have to have had chicken pox in the past before starting humira in order to have a shingles reactivation.
Avatar n tn personally i got the reg. flu vaccine. when i was 33 weeks pregnant and my doc. highly recommended it. so i did get it... talk with your doctor and see what she says. and tell her how you feel.
Avatar f tn I personally will not get the H1N1 vaccine and I am 8 months pregnant. Both of my children ages 1 and 4 have already had the swine flu a month ago and it was not hard on them at all---plus I didn't even get it! They ran fever off and on for a few days, runny nose and cough but that was it. As long as the fever was down they played as usual and seemed just fine. I don't completely trust that this vaccine will not be harmful in any way to my unborn baby--I don't care what they say.
Avatar f tn Can a flu vaccine affect the results of a rapid/quick test or a blood test? I've been going over sexual history and trying to recall any instances of high-risk behavior....in the last yr there have been a few (4 or 5 seriously at best) instances of a condom breaking or realizing it was "up inside" of me the whole time after sex was over...some unprotected sex exposure was short (5 mins at best) and some we'd been having sex for a while (close to 40-45mins).
Avatar f tn I had a drs appt yesterday and my dr told me I am due for a flu shot and Tdap vaccine, and I declined. Right after, he started telling me the benefits of the shot outweigh the risks of getting the flu. So under pressure, I accepted and got the flu shot. I still declined the Tdap. Later last night I came home and looked up all this information about flu vaccines during pregnancy.
