Avatar n tn We have integrated a neuronal cell line into the certified skin model of the IGB and are able to detect this latency stage for the first time. Just like in the human nerve cells, the particles of the virus itself cannot be seen; only the presence of its DNA can be proven by means of a PCR (polymerase chain reaction) analysis." The researcher and her team then exposed the skin model to ultraviolet radiation (UVB).
Avatar f tn It is impossible to tell what may be going on but it certainly sounds nerve related to me. And I know that the particular nerve may not go into your foot but it is possible to have referred pain. When my SI becomes bad I do experience pain in my foot and toes. No one can explain that but it happens. It may just take awhile for the bruising and swelling of the soft tissues to return to normal. Once that happens your symptoms may disappear or improve.
Avatar f tn The L5/S1 is compressing on a nerve root, causing sciatica symptoms in my right leg and foot. I walk with a limp and my right foot is numb. I can barley do a right calf raise, as I am unable to push up with my right foot. I have been taking anti inflammatory and tramadol for pain for approximately 6 weeks. I also got a lumbar epidural injection approximately 3 weeks ago and have been doing physical therapy for the past 3 weeks as well.
Avatar m tn You've heard the song,"The knee bone's connected to the thigh bone...?" it sounds like this may be what's going on...If the foundation of a house isn't sturdy, the rest of the house will show strain in it's structure...The same with the human body...if you have unsupported arches, your ankle, knees, hips, and low back will try to compensate...As the strain worsens, they will start complaining...
Avatar m tn There may be some impingment upon the intrathecal segment of the left L5 nerve root at this site. There is multifactorial mild to moderate left foraminal stenosis , where there may be a degree of of L4 nerve root impingement. there is a very subtle region of the intermediate signal intensity on t1 weighted imaging with in the epidural space anteriorly on the right within the riht L4L5 subarticular recess and right lateral reces. This is apparently contguous with the l4/5 intervertabral disc.
Avatar m tn At the age of 75 how long will it take to regenerate the cells of a broken bone in a foot?
Avatar m tn However, my question is, could a laterally herniated disk (without central canal impingement) cause symptoms of claw toes and pes cavus? My foot structure has become worse and worse over the past two years. The right foot has more severe pes cavus/claw toes, but both legs have sciatica symptoms - the disk is herniated both to the left and right. I haven't heard of anyone getting high arches from a herniated disk, does this usually result from a different neurological disorder?
1336659 tn?1275890125 Pes cavus High arch in foot of a person with a hereditary neuropathy High arch (also high instep, pes cavus in medical terminology) is a human foot type in which the sole of the foot is distinctly hollow when bearing weight. That is, there is a fixed plantar flexion of the foot. A high arch is the opposite of a flat foot, and somewhat less common. The term pes cavus encompasses a broad spectrum of foot deformities.
Avatar f tn -based University of York studied the bacterial endomannosidase as a model for the same human enzyme and successfully determined its three-dimensional structure using state-of-the-art synchrotron technology.
Avatar n tn * Nerve conduction studies or electromyography are sometimes used to help determine the type and extent of nerve damage. Nerve conduction studies check the transmission of electrical current through a nerve. Electromyography shows how well muscles respond to electrical signals transmitted by nearby nerves. These tests are rarely needed to diagnose neuropathy. * A check of heart rate variability shows how the heart responds to deep breathing and to changes in blood pressure and posture.
Avatar n tn Immediately upon awakening from a three-level lumbar spinal fusion, I knew my right foot was completely numb. The surgery was to correct left leg pain. My right foot and calf feels like its being squeezed so tight it becomes painful. Also, I began to suffer with erectile dysfunction. My right foot burns like fire on the lateral side and my foot seems ot hurt more when I am sitting and /or resting. Could this be P.A.D.? and how can I get professional diagnosis?

Avatar m tn My son was blind because of ROP. I read about progress in stem cell research where they were able to successfully "create" a retina-like structure out of human embryonic stem cells. If ever this becomes a scientifically proven method will it be applicable to my son?
Avatar m tn Just beyond this point, the nerve enters the foot by passing between a muscle and a bone in the foot. This area is called the Tarsal Tunnel. The Posterior Tibial Nerve is the largest nerve that enters the foot. At the level of the ankle, the nerve branches out like the branches of a tree as it goes out toward the toes. This nerve supplies most of the sensation to the bottom of the foot and the muscles in the bottom of the foot.
Avatar m tn Its so painful after standing, sitting or laying on bed for a long time, pain on my both hips and thighs till foot. I was having back pain a couple of years back. The last two years I have undergone Kalari Marma Chikilsa, a traditional form of Physio therapy - massage the body after puting oil with the legs. but it seems not effective for this bcoz the vain which is hving pain comes under the musscles.
Avatar n tn Hello I'm a 17 year old male, I've been having a warm feeling in my lower left leg, mostly in my left foot. I've also had this feeling on my upper left chest as well as in my ears, it feels like that part of my body is being soaked in warm water, my doctor didn't pay much attention to this and was clueless. I'm kind of freaked out at the moment seeing this has been going on for weeks and feels very unnatural, could a blood clot cause this? and any ideas?
Avatar f tn Due to the tarsal repair you have lost lot of mass like muscle and soft tissue so the normal anatomy has been changed and for this you have to wear proper shoes. Try not to wear footwear which causes pain and with physiotherapy and exercise you will gain strength and fight the pain . Take care!
1236133 tn?1270310135 A bunion splint, usually worn at night, can provide further relief. Depending on the structure of your foot, custom insoles might add further support and repositioning. Take care!
Avatar m tn i have been to seven doctors. neurologist, orthopedic, family, foot doctor. i had nerve induction tests. two sets of m.r.i.`s., x rays . seven months later i still have constant numb tingling pain in my feet , thighs, i have pain in my penis. trouble urinating and with erections., my bowel movements are not normal.when i walk there is pain in my right ankle and foot, like they are broken. they had me on 300mg gabapentin, 500mg hydrocodone. this did nothing.
Avatar f tn Is there any excercises that I can do to help a pinched nerve ?
Avatar n tn I have pain in my groin area on my right side, it is worse when I sit or lay down and my right leg gets numbness feeling and my right foot gets tingling feeling in the ball of it. It hurts the worse when I've been sitting on the commode and stand up. Sometimes I have pain in my lower back at the same time as groin pain. Has anybody had pain like this or know what it could be?
Avatar n tn Regardless, the lateral foot pain is horrid! The surgeon recommended removing the implant and removing the nerve while he was in there. I am now 6-weeks post op. Thoughts? 1) Should I be concerned with anything? 2) He did tell me I would have an area of numbness (where?). 3) Any motor problesm I need to be concerned about?
Avatar n tn They did a popiliteral nerve block. The first 2 days I could not move my foot. It finally started to improve, I thought. On the 6th day of post-op, I called my doctor and asked could the feeling like my leg was asleep could be from the cast or the nerve block. They told me to come in and they removed my cast. the doctor stated he does the nerve blocks to keep patients from hurting afterwards.
