my daughter uses regular insulin since 9 years old now she is 20 and was put on Humalog 25 mix pen and the thing about the aggresive behavoir is true. last week we had to take her to a hospital with a descompensation almost commatose. I check another forum and it appears the pen humalog works well for adults over 30, 40 50 etc or so but by reading your case I believe it is not suitable for kids with diabetes type I.

His physical activity during the 2 hour periods after taking Humalog are about the same. The dosage criteria for Humalog are about the same (He takes one unit of Humalog for each 10 carbohydrate grams in the morning and one unit of Humalog for each 12 carbohydrate grams at dinner). The only other difference is that he takes NPH at the same time as Humalog in the am and does not take NPH at the dinner meal.

Question - They recommend reducing Humalog by 50% when taking Symlin, does this help prevent the before-mentioned lows?
Is the benefit really worth more injections? I have never minded injections and prefer injections to a pump. So, I did tell my doctor I felt I was a good candidate to try. After 40 years, I am extra cautious in preventing surprise lows. I test before driving and have never had any serious problems.
