Avatar n tn First of all, it is not "known" you "have" to work out your abs every day. You don't have to work them out at all if you don't want to. So obviously you have a goal in mind. There are no experts on these forums, just people who do what you do, hopefully, who can share experiences. But abs are basically part of a core workout, while other muscles might not be.
Avatar f tn In fact, most crunches work the lower back as hard as they do the abs, and all that twisting can be a strain. Not that anyone knows how to best work the abs, though, as far as I can tell. For six pack abs, quite frankly, most who have them don't get them through exercise -- it's a sure sign of steroid use, since the belly should have some fat. You'll never see agricultural or hunter-gatherer cultures with flat stomachs. Other than this, the above post is right on.
Avatar m tn Then, as you feel they are getting less sore and better conditioned for that type of workout, you should add a few more sets to each session or throw in new exercises, like hanging knee raises. I take the 2-3 times per week approach (when I started training my abs, I began with 1 session a week and worked my way up). I think this is much better because you are still training the muscle often enough to get great results, but you're not over-training the muscle.
Avatar m tn I have a routine for what I workout weight wise (whatever workout the coach gives us) but I want to be able to see my abs... I have a layer of fat over them.
Avatar f tn Really just listen to your body, don't push yourself. If you feel like you should stop, stop. Try not to use any weight until you're a little further along but keep the weight low and make sure you pay attention to how you feel.
Avatar f tn Cardio works even better if you do it immediately after resistance or body weight training. Doing your cardio after your abs workout may help to directly target this area for fat burning as well. Examples of cardio include walking around the neighborhood, walking or running up and down the stairs, jogging and/or riding an exercise bike. Avatar f tn I lost 25lbs un 3 months and i got pregnant. I workout 3-5 days a week. I want to stay in shape throughout my pregnancy so i can bounce back to normal after giving birth.
Avatar f tn Abs are typically okay to work out every day, but you need to alternate upper and lower body to give arms and legs a chance to rest. Make sure you are stretching before and after exercise as well and getting in a good warm up and cool down! Good luck!
Avatar n tn t continue to work your abs. The only thing I would do is to test your blood sugar before you workout and if it is anywhere near normal or low, I would just disconnect the pump or lower your basal rate for that hour. Your doctor can give you better guidelines on how to adjsut your insulin when you exercise. I have exercised with my pump and I have never had any problem, other than being in lousy shape. Those pumps are pretty sturdy and stay put pretty well.
Avatar n tn Hey everyone. I was looking for an ab workout routine on the internet and I came across one of those old 'Eight Minute Abs' videos on Youtube. It was basically just eight minutes of different types of crunches so I figured it was as good a place as any to get started. So, I did the routine and I did, in fact, feel the burn so to speak in my abs. I'm in moderate physical shape and it was a bit difficult getting through the whole eight minutes, so I guess that's a good thing.
579258 tn?1250649343 I never feel sore after an ab workout, even after doing all of that. Does that mean I need to tack on more? Please say no!!! LOL! I find workouts tedious and boring. Another GREAT ab workout that you can do ANYTIME and ANYWHERE is sucking in your belly button to your spine. Hold however long you can, then release. Repeat and repeat... and repeat all throughout the day! Helps strengthen your abs when you can't get a workout in.
Avatar f tn It makes my tummy and lower abs really tight. It just feels wierd! Lol I started having them about 4 weeks ago. It doesn't last long, maybe a few minutes or so. They come and go. But it feels like as if I was doing an ab workout.

Avatar f tn It just takes a lot of discipline, and you have to be willing to take it to the extreme! Diet is a major factor!! Avoid deep fried foods, processed foods, refined foods and foods high in saturated fats. Eat foods that are nutrient-dense, high in fiber and low in fat, eat lean meats, low fat dairy, whole grains, fruits, vegetables, seeds, nuts and legumes. No liquid calories.
Avatar f tn So I worked out for the first time in a looong time yesterday, and my muscles hurt... I'm wondering if it's ok for me to workout today? I've been told to wait until my muscles aren't sore because they need to heal. And I've been told topush through it, so I just don't know. Any help?

Build a Better Back "Scapular retraction" in the weight room, it's a muscle action that strengthens the middle part of your trapezius, one of your back's biggest muscles. The movement: Pull your shoulder blades (scapulae) together in back (retracting them).
Avatar f tn Any exercise helps in the long run (definitely for labor), just be careful to not over work yourself, take breaks and careful of the abs as you get farther along
Avatar m tn Initially if you have muscle pains then repeat the exercise on alternate days to give rest to the same group of muscles. Alternate days you can concentrate on abs, legs and neck. Take care!
Avatar f tn com/2012/04/03/waist-workout-flamingo-exercise-to-improve-strength-agility-an-shrink-your-waist/ However if your body fat tends to accumulate in the lower section of your abdominal you need to do specific exercises to activate the lower abs such as applying some weight resistance on regular abdominal crunches.
Avatar f tn Return to your hands and knees but extend your legs backward so you’re balanced on your palms and toes to do pushups. Begin with your arms extended and your body straight from head to feet. Lower your chest to the floor and then push yourself up to the starting position while keeping your body straight at all times. Pushups work your chest and shoulders. Do the same exercise with your hands close together, below your upper chest, to target your triceps.

Avatar n tn However, the length of time it takes to get-six pack abs depends upon your gender, how consistently you train and whether or not you have an excess amount of body fat. Strength train consistently and follow a hypertrophy, or muscle building, program. That's a high frequency of training sessions, with each session being of high volume. Rectus abdominus muscles like all muscles in your body require a rest from strength training, so allow 48 hours of recovery time between training sessions.
Avatar f tn abs, legs, biceps, chest, or back). So every day I'm doing machines for one area plus the cardio (jogging or eliptical). Like I said I've been disciplined and going every day, but I'm getting discouraged because I don't see my body changing.. I realize its only been a month but I am at it every single day, shouldn't I be seeing some results? My diet is healthy too, I have low blood sugar so I eat tons of protein.
594189 tn?1386916607 It takes some practice to isolate your abs and NOT use your neck to raise yourself, but I taught seniors to do this. The other way to work abs from a chair is to sit back in the chair, once again with your back straight as a board and your bottom toward the edge of the chair. Slowly and with control, raise your legs and lower them. Do not drop them. CONTROL. Just don't over-do any of it. If you work shoulders one day, do arms the next.
Avatar f tn I remember reading a post some years ago by a guy who said he actually ejaculated while doing an intense abs workout. I’ve always found exercise in general to be a bit stimulating to a guy’s reproductive system, so I wdn’t worry about this at all - I’d say it’s somewhat normal. I’ll be interested to see if other guys chime in w/ similar experiences...
Avatar n tn Just wondering how do u tighten your lower abs cause crunches do the upper but not so much the lower,
