Avatar n tn I have a pump also and I see no reason why you can't continue to work your abs. The only thing I would do is to test your blood sugar before you workout and if it is anywhere near normal or low, I would just disconnect the pump or lower your basal rate for that hour. Your doctor can give you better guidelines on how to adjsut your insulin when you exercise. I have exercised with my pump and I have never had any problem, other than being in lousy shape.
Avatar m tn Then, as you feel they are getting less sore and better conditioned for that type of workout, you should add a few more sets to each session or throw in new exercises, like hanging knee raises. I take the 2-3 times per week approach (when I started training my abs, I began with 1 session a week and worked my way up). I think this is much better because you are still training the muscle often enough to get great results, but you're not over-training the muscle.
Avatar f tn Really just listen to your body, don't push yourself. If you feel like you should stop, stop. Try not to use any weight until you're a little further along but keep the weight low and make sure you pay attention to how you feel.
Avatar f tn In fact, most crunches work the lower back as hard as they do the abs, and all that twisting can be a strain. Not that anyone knows how to best work the abs, though, as far as I can tell. For six pack abs, quite frankly, most who have them don't get them through exercise -- it's a sure sign of steroid use, since the belly should have some fat. You'll never see agricultural or hunter-gatherer cultures with flat stomachs. Other than this, the above post is right on.

Generally, lighter weights with lots of reps and three or more sets result in little muscle growth but more fat loss and calorie usage. As weight increases, the number of repetititions should decrease. The numbers on the weights don't matter. What does matter is your body's response to weight.

I'm not too sure where it starts. Physical exertion, lifting weights or pushing on the areas cause no additional pain. Seems to get worse after sitting for a 30 minutes or longer. No changes in urine or semen. No discharges or burning. No STD's. No hernia.

Avatar f tn The standing cable rotation works many of the core muscle groups including the abs, obliques and lower back with it's side-to-side, twisting motion. This exercise needs to be done with a piece of resistance tubing or cable machine. Start with your feet hip-width apart, standing alongside either the cable machine or the resistance tubing. Hold the cable close to your body just under your chest. Twist away from the cable by moving your head, chest and torso together.
Avatar n tn they sprint a good 15-50 yards each single play depending on their route and notice HOW they do their routes..VERY intense and very fast sprinting intervals. That is how you want to do your cardio routine. I like to use a stairclimber or an elliptical since sprinting kills my shins and knees now. I will go 4 minutes at a moderate pace and then every 5th minute I go so fast for that minute that I almost want to puke afterward.

Each time you do an old-fashioned sit-up you have to bend your lower back, and if you do that for long enough, as I did, you will exponentially increase the possibility of harming your lower back. I've seen a ton of sports specialists, and not one does or recommends sit-ups. That's why everyone talks about crunches nowadays.

Lower your chest to the floor and then push yourself up to the starting position while keeping your body straight at all times. Pushups work your chest and shoulders. Do the same exercise with your hands close together, below your upper chest, to target your triceps. Google this also if you need to see how it's done. In fact google all of them!!

But, my lower abs feel REALLY swelled. My question is how long was it before you can really tell….that it is OKAY to run & workout normal again. so sad here….ready to be ME again. Like I said I am usually an active 39 year old woman that enjoys exercise. Thank you....

I am a stay at home mom and have always had some anxiety about crowded places, flying on a plane, stuff like that but I get my attacks when I'm sitting at home in my comfort zone, I just don't get it. I don't drink alcohol, have never been a coffee drinker but I do occasionally have to have chocolate and I drink at least once a day caffeine free Pepsi, I am however a smoker.

Avatar n tn It started in my lower left back, then moved on to my stomach and lower back. I don't think it is shingles since that has a very clear skin rash that shows up with it. I have though recently been bitten by a spider. The spider bite was on my left arm, not painful, only a little sensitive to the touch. The bite was a bump with a smaller bum next to it, I assume this was one fang got more venom in me than the other.

My question is would it be safe for me to lift weights or workout in anyway? cant see my cardiologist for two weeks dont want to lose my gains.
