Avatar m tn I've been to about two different dermatologist because of my acne, for some reason they become VERY swollen and red. I had to change my doctor, because the first treatment I had a bad reaction to the pills he prescribed. My second dermatologist just prescribed me clindoxyl gel. I've been using it for about more than a year now. I should have stopped by after 3 months into the treatment, however I couldn't, and now I feel silly going into his office after all this time lost.
Avatar m tn These scars are somewhat circular, not very deep but visible, and about one tenth of an inch or slightly smaller. I have no idea how to stop them from appearing or to how to treat them. Any help is appreciated!
Avatar f tn I didn't know this was still allowed. Are you in the US? When I was young, they used antibiotics to treat acne. Here's what happens: even a short course of antibiotics not only kills off harmful bacteria, it also kills off beneficial bacteria. Beneficial bacteria are not only an essential part of your immune system keeping you safe from things a whole lot more harmful to you that having a less than ideal appearance.
Avatar m tn I don't know how your skin will react to Decutan, no one can tell you that. If your acne are still coming out then use the medicine your doctor prescribed you. Just don't get addicted to your medicine, when it's time for you to stop using them, just stop and don't worry about new acne coming. If you get all stressed and obsessed with that, like "OMG i don't use medicine anymore now they will come back", of course they will come back than.
Avatar m tn Hello, Certain food stuffs like chocolates and oily foods can flare up the acne. Hence you are advised to stop its intake. Rest hormonal imbalance like premenstrual symptoms can also cause acne to flare up. I hope it helps. Take care and regards.
Avatar n tn Hi, Acne develops as a result of blockages in follicles. Hyperkeratinization and formation of a plug of keratin and sebum (a microcomedo) is the earliest change. The microcomedo may enlarge to form an open comedo (blackhead) or closed comedo (whitehead). In these conditions the naturally occurring largely commensual bacteria Propionibacterium acnes can cause inflammation.
Avatar f tn Ok, I am a 16 year old female teen and I have been getting more acne than usual so i used an acne product that I hadn't use in a while after i got out of the shower. (The product was acne free and it contained 10% benzoyl peroxide) I slept with it on and then woke up and my cheeks were itchy. Once it rubbed them, they turned red like a sunburn. I was at school all day with red cheeks! Did I have an allergic reaction???
Avatar m tn Hi there, Any acne medication takes time to act and it is important to stick to particular regime for significant improvement. You should wash your face with a nonirritating, pH-balanced cleanser to decrease inflammation. Avoid scrubbing the face. Do not pop or pick at pimples. A correct nutritional balance and skin care will be helpful. Drink plenty of water every day. Take 7-8 hours of sleep daily. Have a balanced diet rich in vitamin A, zinc and rich in multivitamins.

Avatar n tn There is no miracle cure for acne. Cortisone shots reduce inflammation and allergic symptoms but can actually induce acne. The drug considered the "gold standard" treatment for acne is Accutane (oral Isotretinoin). This is a power drug for people with severe acne which has not responded to standard treatments.
Avatar n tn I came back from a trip to Bahamas and my underarms started to itch something awful. I have gone to the doctor and he gave me creams for ring-worm, hydrocotizone, etc, but nothing has worked. I have also change deoderant a number of times, stop shaving, changing almost everything and nothing changes. It does subside for a few days and then it starts up again. Now within the last few months, I have been getting really bad acne, large bumps, some whiteheads, some red bumps.

Avatar m tn I have, what I can only describe as acne which is confined to my scalp. I am troubled by lots of spots and pimples, some have yellow puss in, some are just red spots. All are very sore to the touch. The main area of outbreak is a band across the back of my scalp from temple to temple, the sort of area where a hat band would contact your head. The spots are constantly appearing but I have periods of more severs outbreak. I have oily hair which I have to wash every day with baby shampoo.
Avatar f tn Have you sought the assistance of a dermatologist for any prescription medications, either topical or oral? If you're able to visit a dermatologist, that should be your first step. Also a licensed aesthetician will treat your skin and teach you about good skin care. You should look to support your internal health, too. Drinking plenty of water will help to keep your pores clean from the inside out, help eliminate toxins, and keep your skin moisturized.
Avatar f tn It might be an allergy to makeup or even your face soap try a different face soap and stop wearing makeup for a while. As for what to put on it try using a clean make up brush and brush on corn starch like the kind you find in the kitchen. If that doesn't help I would ask your mom to take you to an allergist the doctor can test you to find out for sure and can prescribe a cream to put on it.

Avatar f tn Is there an effective way to treat acne for those with fibromyalgia? My dermatologists have tried quite the variety of treatments for the acne with no success. The acne isn't cystic, but a bit more problematic than mild acne. Also, a sulfa allergy limits that option for treatment. Current regimen includes Azelex (for redness and inflammation) and Tretinoin. I'm curious if there is an effective treatment that takes the fibromyalgia into consideration.
Avatar n tn Hi there, Sorry to hear about your acne. I know how heartbreaking it is to face in the mirror every day. The first step is to figure out what kind of acne you have. How old are you? What is your skin type? Oily? Dry? Sensitive? Is it flaky? Most acne sufferers have more sensitive skin than they think and they treat and treat and treat and rarely see any good results. Overwashing and scrubbing and medicating is the last thing the skin needs. The key is to getting the it balanced.
