Three years ago, my cholesterol came back at 280 (total) with LDL at 156. I told my dr. I'd exercise/diet for 3 months and if that didn't work, I'd go on meds. After daily exercise and strict diet (hardly any saturated fat) my total cholesterol was brought down to 198.
Avatar m tn I would suggest to you to please relax and try to make a list of all things that are causing stress in your life. This way you will know how to you can deal with each one of them. Also do some breathing exercises, go for short walks, eat regularly and take a mild tranquiliser at bedtime. Hope this helps!

Tbd ), scale back and lose some weight, exercise 2 1/2 hours a week, eat lots of fiber like oatmeal, apples, beans, etc, eat fish regularly every week, choose olive oil over butter, add nuts into your diet, reduce stress, add garlic, curcumin, ginger, black pepper, coriander, and cinnamon to foods for spice and cholesterol reduction, quit smoking (obvious) and laugh more. I don't smoke nor drink, so those are two pluses. HOWEVER, trans fat, which is the deadliest fat there is, is all around me, and my grandmother keep buying foods with trans fat in it. Some foods even blatantly lie to you by claiming there is no trans fat, but the words "hydrogenated" appear in the ingredients. It's EVERYWHERE.

The pain ,the anguish ,the fear it took me over .I was to the point that I couldn't go on and every day was a battle ,a struggle just to keep on going.I look back now and i have no idea how i made it . I will never forget that time .It made such a profound impact on my whole being and I am not the same person I was before.

The program was proven to reverse CAD in clinical studies. The diet is pretty restrictive and includes eliminating stimulants such as caffeine from your diet. My confusion is over the diet's elimination of all nuts, all oils (including extra virgin olive oil), chicken and fish from your diet.

It's important to note, that losing weight, isn't always just a matter of "calories in/calories out"; however, we do have to make sure we don't take in more calories than we need as they will be stored as fat. What those calories consist of, it equally important.
Tbd Consider doing the DASH diet, as it promotes eating foods that are low in sodium (ex: fresh fish, nuts, legumes, etc). Also consider adding activity to your day if you're not currently active. Exercise can help strengthen your cardiovascular system and improve circulation. Lastly, find ways to lower / manage stressful situations. That could help as well. There are of course, also genetic / hereditary factors that can play a role.
