Common Questions and Answers about How to read labor contractions on monitor

contractions

Avatar f tn My contractions on the monitor go up to about 80 they aren't really painful. Honestly just feel like braxton Hicks. Will they go higher once labor really starts?
Avatar n tn But it only showed because I had to move it to the right spot. They had it on my lower belly when it needed to be on top. Should I change my Dr. they are not doing anything to help me. I'm in so much pain.
1035252 tn?1427227833 I am overweight and I know with DD that when they had an external and internal monitor on me during labor, the internal picked up WAY stronger contractions than the external...idk, is this really happening? I'm having severe pressure as well, but the nurse just kinda hooked me up and wandered off and I don't know what they're thinking about all of this...anyone have pretty painful regular contractions that barely registered and be in real labor??
Avatar f tn Braxton hicks contractions are real contractions with my first when my water broke I was put on the monitor and it was picking up my Braxton hicks contractions. Had my baby 26 hours later. And with my second by the time I was pushing my contractions were 5-8 minutes apart it was random! Glad I had a homebirth because they probably would have sent me home seeing as my contractions didn't have a pattern.
Avatar f tn Im 39w1d and been having scattered contractions and on my panny liner there is brown mucos looks like before you start your period and i never had that before my lower back hurts so much bad and i stop sometimes cause.
Avatar f tn I'm pretty sure you're in the early stage of labor. That's how mine started. I woke up around midnight on may 20 feeling like I had to go poop really bad. I wasn't able to go but when I wiped there was light pink stains on the tissue. That feeling like I needed to poop just wouldn't go away. It kept coming every 10 mins. I wasn't sure but I decided to start recording the time because I read that contractions can sometimes feel like the strong urge to poop.
Avatar f tn Having contractions like every 30min. I am here at work i cant monitor how long the contractions are. I did have mucus discharge lately I think mucus plug? Anyone who had similar experience?
Avatar f tn I am having Braxton hicks contractions every 5 minutes and the on call doctor told me to come in last weekend so they gave me a shot and sent me home. I am 33weeks and I am not dilating at all. I just do not know what to do because I have been drinking a lot of water and the on call doctors are getting tired of me calling. Do you all have any suggestions? I have been having these for many weeks now.
327668 tn?1224792350 On wednesday I was measuring 1 cm and 50% effaced. When I got to labor and delivery they hooked baby up to a heart monitor and me up to a contraction monitor. Sure enough I was having some contractions. The doc came in about an hour later to check me and I was 2 cm and 90% effaced. They decided to have me checked again in an hour considering my contractions were sparatic and bearable. Sure enough I then went to 3 cm 90% effaced and -3 station.
Avatar f tn How far along are you? I assume far enough to go into labor, and what you were having sounds VERY promising, that was exactly how I felt in real labor, sometimes labor progresses slowly, walk a lot, up and down stairs, have sex, things like that! Walking really helps, so does bouncing on a ball! Good luck hun, you're almost there!!!
10021507 tn?1407285147 I went to hospital the day before having my love and was hooked up to a machine to monitor heartbeat during contractions and there were a few when the nurse asked if i even was feeling the contractions. I did, but one felt like gas and another i thought was baby kicks, so it depends on your body to know.
Avatar f tn Oh yeah, I don't feel contractions until my water breaks, they will read on the monitor but I don't feel them! The best way to put it is, they will be intense and some could be so intense they could knock you on your butt! Or keel you over to lean forward! You'll know! I wouldn't worry to much. Stress only makes them worse, and just try to relax.
Avatar f tn I am a first time mommy 35 weeks, I am due April 23rd with a baby girl. All of the women in my family have had c-sections so nobody is able to really tell me how labor goes. I've read lots of articles and books but I want some honest feed back from real people. What do contractions feel like? If I opt for an epidural will it make it more difficult for me to push? What If my water doesn't break on its own? I am curious about every angle about labor and delivery!
Avatar n tn m quite nervous and anxious and have a few question. Answer w.e u can... 1) how long did it take u to push your baby out 2) how soon after did the placenta come out. 3) hoW many hours where u in labor? pretty much looking for some labor stories!?!
Avatar f tn My daughter went for her drs appt yesterday (she is 37w1d) and since she had high blood pressure, they wanted to do some fetal monitoring in the office. She was having contractions the whole time they were monitoring her (about 1/2 hour). Now for the stupid question - - - - do both Braxton Hicks contractions and "real" contractions register on the monitor?
Avatar f tn m not sure if it was false back labor that I had, but my lower back hurt extremely bad. So I went into labor and delivery and they hooked me up to the monitor. I was having contractions in my belly that were picked up by monitor and the nurse could feel it if she felt my belly. But eventually they stopped.
Avatar f tn I had sex over two hours maybe three hours ago. Like 30 mins after my lower back and girl parts have been hurting like CRAZY. I'm not sure on what to time or how to time and this is my first so I don't know if the pains I'm feeling are real contractions! I'm 38w2d. Advice plz and if you have similar pain after sex plz share your experience.
Avatar f tn Well I just got back from l&d. They said it's def early labor since the contractions are picking up on the monitor but are still somewhat irregular. He said Braxton hicks don't pick up on the monitor. He also said he wouldn't be surprised if I was back tonight in full blown labor & that I'm very soft & 2cm dilated. He recommended a place for dinner and I asked about walking and he said it would probably help things along.
8296126 tn?1397528368 Usually no, but it's possible. I was in labor for 5 days with my son, Having contractions anywhere from 3-15 minutes apart and they were painful contractions so I couldn't feel him moving at all.
Avatar f tn I was having contractions yesterday night at 2 min apart for 2 hours...very very mild....until I decided to go to the hospital. .once they put me on the monitor. .and just being in the state of mind and in the environment...my contractions for stronger. Im only about 2 centimeter d ialated ...they made me walk the halls for an hour and checked me...I made a little progress ..pain level was at an 8-9 and they still sent me home. I was pissed!
Avatar f tn Okay this may have an obvious answer but what do contractions feel like? Last night I was in labor& delivery for four hours hooked up to the monitors and was having contractions but all I was feeling was a dull back pain I wasn't feeling any of the contractions so I'm not sure how I am supposed to know when I am having them or not my stomach its pretty tight already.
Avatar n tn How much are you dilated to? Because when your water breaks your suppose to go to the l&d, not wait for contractions. Never heard of that.
Avatar n tn After antibiotic i still have contractions and they even put me on sedation to control my contractions. I am on close monitoring in a special unit hooked in fetal monitor. I wanna go home but they said they need to control contractions before they send me home. Its been a week and I feel more depressed in the hospital.
Avatar f tn I am 38 weeks and 5 days pregnant and I know how to time belly contractions but how do you time back contractions? Does anyone know that can help a mother out .
1222635 tn?1366396286 okay i do NOT want to go to l&d again unless it is for REAL labor. please tell me how to tell the difference.. as some of yall know i had contractions awhile back that landed me in the hospital overnight. okay so they really didn't hurt that bad, and they started out about every 7 minutes...they didn't get more intense and as far as i could tell they didn't get more frequent..(but the monitor picked them up at every 3-4) anywhoooo. i get bouts of them every now and again.
9590250 tn?1452831684 It's normal to havze contraction & not feel them. With my 1st son I never felt contractions til I was around 36wks then when I was going in to labor never felt my contractions & I was going on to 6 but I got the epidural anyways just in case.
Avatar f tn m almost 38weeks and woke up Tuesday at 3am with strong contractions every 3mins and this lasted all night so went into labor and delivery was there all day having contractions, they were showing up on the monitors the midwife kept checking me... No dilation, nothing. At 8pm last night they sent me home and nothing since... Has anyone experienced anything like this, if so how did it turn out for you.. Thanks !
1414887 tn?1287903364 I can never tell when I'm having contractions unless I'm on a monitor getting them monitored. Today at random times I've been feeling sharp pains that start in my mid back and strike down to my lower back. They are quick and irregular. I'm 37 wks and they said baby is ready it's just a waiting for labor to start. I'm 3cm dilated and baby is low.
