Now I know that actiq,opana,stadol,and oxycontin are synthentic oipioids. Now I have taken a blood test for oxycontin only to make sure this is negative and a true false positive because I do not take this pain med. I am so upset because I have had to go through withdrawls and they are worse than the pain.
My question I guess is how can they tell the difference in oxycontin and if it is not in my blood and is a true positive, even though I am showing positive on and off on my urine tests.

Opiates are opiates, and I'm sure false positives occur. The standard 5 panel tests looks for codeine metabolites. Hydro turns into codeine, as does darvocet and or course codeine. But, Oxy is a different animal. That's why there's a special test for Oxy. There's also a special Methadone test. The only advice I can give is to request a confirmation screen where the urine is sent off for analysis instead of the standard test strips.

Since your test was sent off too the lab. they will be able to confirm either a neg. or postive for this med. They are very percise, that is why it was sent off for further testing. I know someone who recently tested pos. for methadone also, it was sent off too the lab, same situation has you minus the tylenol, when it came back it was neg. I know how expensive these test are. All patients at the office I was going too had to have their test results sent to lab. on a monthly basis.

A simple urine test will be the same but a blood test will not lie and will tell exactly how much of what is in your blood at what levels. Even though, I have done this many times, I don't recommend taking one because of running out of other. Had I educated myself years ago, I would have been completely open with my Dr. so he could of seen the addiction signs before it got so bad for me.
He told us recently that he wanted to start using again. We asked him to do a urine test to see if he was using, because we told him we would not allow him to live at our home again if he was using. WE told him we would get him help if he needed and wanted it. He refused to test, says he doesn't need help, chose to leave the house and is now living with a former addict possibly relapsed friend. I have sporadic bouts with frequent urination and a constant sensitve at the tip of my penis. I went back today for a follow-up and submitted to a urinalysis and was told that the Nitrates in my urine which were negative 2 weeks ago are now positive. The MD seemed a little concerned and told me to continue on the Septra and that they would test the urine with a Chyl/Gonn culture again.
