Common Questions and Answers about How to overcome fear of losing

fear

Avatar f tn To overcome anxiety, one must understand the logic of why the brain is feeling threatened, it sends messages to the body saying its under threat. New pathways need to be created to overcome the old programming. So for example, if you panic over a fear of flying, you must start flying and let the brain realise that its all okay, and reprogram the thoughts. However, the fear of dying can't really be practiced. Some buddhists meditate in a morgue as it is the closest we can get to dying.

I do not have a fear of flying in a jet airplane or inside tall buildings. It has become a real problem for me to enjoy skiing.

Avatar f tn Hi. I think therapy would benefit you greatly, in teaching you how not to obcess over this so that it doesn't consume you. Most people have some fear of death and we all worry about losing our loved ones, it's normal. Having lost most of my family, this same worry consumed me. The biggest lesson all these losses taught me is that no amount of worry in the world will change what will be, it only makes us sick.
Avatar m tn scarlett11 Try a sleep app that has dozens of recordings of therapists telling you how to go to sleep. You get to select which one you want to listen to, and I often listen to the same recording for months. Sometimes I fall asleep in the first few minutes but for that to work, I have to pay attention to what the speaker says.

Avatar f tn High levels of anxiety, fear of death/thoughts of death, feelings of loneliness and homesickness, etc. I think I am going to see a psychiatrist to make sure this is well monitored and doesn't turn into postpartum depression. I am not religious but have been helped a lot by thinking about the immortality of the soul and praying to a higher being for peace. Keeping you in my thoughts. We can do this!
Avatar m tn Sorry, I guess my point was that neither you or your partner were putting yourself at risk. I don't think you should be retested again. You should work with your therapist to figure out why you can't accept your boyfriend's negative test results.
