Common Questions and Answers about How to make oily skin go away

Avatar f tn Hello, In oily skin, the oil producing sebaceous glands are overactive and produce more oil than is needed. The oil oozes and gives the skin a greasy shine. It can be caused by heredity, diet, hormone levels, pregnancy, birth control pills and hot and humid weather. Oily skin needs special cleansing with plenty of hot water and soap to prevent the pores from being clogged. Avoid harsh products that strip your skin of oil and encourage flakiness.
Avatar f tn Human skin has pores (tiny holes) which connect to oil glands located under the skin. The glands are connected to the pores via follicles - small canals. These glands produce Sebum, an oily liquid. The sebum carries dead skin cells through the follicles to the surface of the skin.
Avatar n tn Perhaps, I've never learnt how to properly cleanse my face. Could you please tell me a daily skin-care regimen to prevent and maybe even get rid of this chronic problem? Also, what are the most effective methods to eliminate the scars??? Please help.....I'm pushing 40 now, I'd love to be free of this by then!!! Thank You!!!
Avatar f tn Hi, my name is Toni. I have suffered from cystic acne for over 10 years now. Ironically it began shortly after I started my first job as newly licensed esthetician. I know exactly what is happening but I am powerless in defense. It usually starts as one impacted follicle & within a week or so, erupts below the surface, infecting up to 4 or 5 other follicles, creating a huge painful nodule.
Avatar f tn i first noticed this about two months ago and thought it was shampoo that had not been rinsed out however i think it was actually the nice and easy colour seal conditioner (i had just dyed my hair) i found that redying my hair helped temporarily but it just came back even without the nice and easy conditioner, i have just tried the lemon juice/vinegar method to no avail, tomorrow i will try the listerene and let you know how it goes, if it fails then i will need to go to the doctor as it is dr
Avatar n tn I was wondering if you have any recommendation of anything i can do to make the fungus and itching to go away and to heal the small cuts i have that i think reopen when i get an errection. I really don't want to go back to my Dr this week because I cant afford it and he will probably just tell me to go see a dermatologist which I cant afford. Thanks for your time and help, it Is greatly appreciated!
Avatar f tn I've recently started having this problem. I am a college student and in the process of getting my teaching degree. I am also an employee at Chick-fil-A. I thought that this spot came about from washing too much, using conditioner, then I thought maybe my water wasn't hot enough. I then changed everything that I used. I color my hair, but that didn't seem to have any effect to the "spot". I have no idea how to get rid of it, nothing is working for me.
Avatar m tn This is similar to a yeast infection will you have going on on your face if you can find some dead seat salt or any sea salt wash your face with a warm compress to get the pores open then use a mixture of sea salt and Warm water and and apply it to your face in those areas do this twice a day after you are done use a cooler compress to close back up the pores and rinse the salt residue off your face after 2 days you should notice a difference
Avatar f tn Last Wednesday, after a particularly stressful few days and a 48 hour stomach virus I awoke with extremely oily hair. I, too, wash and condition my normally dry hair everyday. I, too, went to my Dr. who put me on Zoloft. It's been a week tomorrow and it is no better. In fact, it is worse - it started in the top and then went to the left side, etc. No one I have talked to has ever heard of this.
Avatar f tn I've heard that but it was opposite for me. With both my girls my face cleared up. This time with my boy i broke out bad.
232264 tn?1191252080 I was wondering after youve been clean for a while does your immunity or something change to make your skin break out? Ive had many problems with my skin in the past i just want things to be good so i can feel all together confident about myself. My face is red and irritated around my nose area and get a few whiteheads VERY annoying? I shower everyday but i just didnt know if there was something i can do..
Avatar m tn after I get full and relaxed, my skin looks more natural and oily soft. I work and go to college, so I can't stay away of being hungery or stressed, because I spent hours in work and collge with full of stress. is there any medicine for this or is this normal. I am 26 years old, and I look older than that. this condition started 3 years ago, but now it is increasing. I would be more than grateful to find an answer or solution for this.
Avatar n tn I have been to a Dermotologist, and have used shampoos, and other types of cleansers along with creams such as Eledel, Cortizone, Noritrate, and it seems none make a difference, in fact most make my face more red and oily then previous. Usually the process seems to help (first few days), and then goes terribly wrong after a few weeks, and I always end up with a red face and oily skin.
Avatar f tn We are all very sick and nasty feeling idk what to do how to cope or where to go for help someone somewhere plz help.. I wish I had a doctor or scientist in my family ..
Avatar n tn Although, I must admit, my hair was too dark and I used Dawn dw liquid and then Pantene Clarifying Shampoo to try and fade the color faster - both pretty stressful to hair. Any ideas from folks with the same problem? Does this go away?? This discussion is related to suddenly oily hair that won't correct.
Avatar n tn One of my favorites that I DO take everyday is primrose oil, takes the bloated feeling away. So now I am on a mission . . .the Dr. said to stay away from iodine, but read an interesting article on that from another poster on this forum. What I might do is find a really good holistic, nutrionist type person and run all my ailments by them. Yes, I have many of the same issues as you, cracking joints as a kid . . .
Avatar n tn After 9 months of Chemo, I am doing well so far but I have started having this pain in my upper left side every time I eat and I'm afraid to go to the Doctor. So please go and make sure they follow through with all the tests necessary.
461838 tn?1255793816 I am still learning everyday that I have to let go of self to get away from being entombed in selfcenteredness and all that goes with fear of the unknown. What happens happens, I can't control it, but I can keep an open mind and perspective on what is happening now.
Avatar m tn * Anytime it feels dry, take a little Mentholatum (grandmas cure for everything) and put it on a q-tip, wipe it genitally on the sore, I usually do both sides to make it even. * This will keep it moist, the longer you use that, the less you have to apply... I am down to once a day.... *** I think I also figured out why I get them! So I noticed that I always have a runny nose, just a little runny though.
Avatar f tn If it has only been a month, it might take a little while to go away. It almost sounds like you accidentally peeled the top layer of the epidermis with the wax, and then it got sun, and darkened from that more than average because the skin was so raw. I have a derm (prescription) cream that they caution to use only at night, because it makes the skin susceptible to sun damage. Anyway, sunblock on your upper lip area is a must at all times. Use a non-oily block in a very high SPF, like 50.
Avatar n tn Although I have used Dermovate, Betnovate and various other creams, the flaking skin does not go away and nor does the irritation. The skin seems to just drop off each morning but regrows within 12 hours after which it again just drops off. Any kind soul know of a remedy for this ailment?
Avatar n tn this leads to a more annoying acne and pimple problem which never seem to go away since 5 years ago.its come to a stage that i have to wash my face with facial wash everytime after i eat.if i dont,my skin will feel as if smeared with engine oil, unbearably itchy and pimples will start to break out under 1 hour.using plain water wont cut it.i know washing face frequently will dry it up making the skin produce more oil.
Avatar n tn Lower your cholesterol intake and exercise more, drink lots of water and you should notice a difference. If not, you can go to a dermatologist and have them needled out. Exfoliating is good, but make sure it's a good exfoliant and not something that costs 3$ also look up Milia on google... I'm sure this is what you are suffering from.
Avatar n tn Hello, Without examination, confirmation of a diagnosis is tough but it can be seborrheic dermatitis.Seborrheic dermatitis is a common skin condition that causes flaky, dry, white to yellowish scales to form on oily areas esp under the nose or anywhere on face. You can treat flaking and dryness with over-the-counter dandruff or medicated shampoos. Shampoo the hair vigorously and frequently (preferably daily).
Avatar n tn Thanks, NO REALLY THANKS. PS if anybody posts and tells you to tell me how to make a PBJ sandwich--I will take more aterax and stay up all night long posting - and use up the rest of the threads or bandwidth for the year.
Avatar n tn But I do want to use something that will make it go away for good and I can continue to go in the sun. I am not a white person, I have olive skin tone and these patches are lighter then my normal color. If anyone has any suggestions for me please let me know!!
Avatar m tn I've been looking at lots of skin care products lately because I'm getting way more into how I look and I'm trying to look good but the thing is, I don't know my skin type.. at all. Whenever I look online it says dry, normal/combination or oily but I'm not sure which I fit into. My skin has traits of combination and oily but when i go and look for products the "combination" ones seem to have stuff in them that I probably shouldn't use on my face like milk or soy.
Avatar m tn You need to follow a gluten free diet for 2 months to see if that works. If you need advice on how to do this then we can give you hints. It really sounds like celiac disease to me so you need to try this. It is hard but a lot of us have done this and it can be done.
