Common Questions and Answers about How to make fingernails white

nail

Avatar f tn I have these white lines on my fingernails that run parallel to the cuticle. They have areas in the white line that are heavier and make the line look like a spot. They cover the nail in it's entirety. I have taken zinc for year now with no real change. I am concerned about taking too much zinc since it was removed from some dental products. My hypoyroidism is controlled with medication. I do not suffer trauma to my hands. I am 55 yes old and have had these for as long as I can remember.
Avatar f tn i would like to know how to treat chronic dry flaky fingernails and what is exactly the cause?. my heels are also doing the same thing. i take a multi vitamin and i use body butter.
Avatar m tn On and off for the last three years my fingernails have been turning completly white, only to retain its pinkish color and return white again. During these times when my fingernails turn white I feel like I'm going to get the flu, but never quite do and lasts for a couple of weeks accompanied by fatigue. For the last 6 months I have had loose stools just about everyday. Doctors ran blood test and didn't find anything.
Avatar n tn t a Thyroid question, but I thought it might be a metabolic problem and if you could help. All during my youth, I had these solid white patches under my fingernails in different spots, on and off....Very obvious white spots that aren't normally there.
Avatar n tn I would advise you to see your doctor as you have an infection in the fingers and this needs to be treated by an antibiotic either by tablet or an antibiotic cream. Infections can spread, so it is important for you to see the doctor. He is used to seeing people with all sorts of problems, so don't worry about it. You could try bathing the fingers in some warm water with salt in it or some Bicarbonate of Soda. I would put in about a tablespoonful of salt to a medium sized bowl of water.
Avatar n tn A zinc deficiency can cause white or light yellow spots on the fingernails.
1549643 tn?1495759353 My doctor said it was not fungus and they are white, not yellow. The picture might make them look a little yellow (not so great camera). Wanted to make sure it wasn't a condition you would see with psoriatic nails. I've seen pictures of people with PSA have this same issue but then there are the one's you actually see oil spots pitting and damage to the nails.
Avatar f tn My tips only stay white for a very short time before slowly turning clear. Any advice about how to prevent this and/or what it means would be greatly appreciated!
Avatar n tn I have a small, whiteish, bump on my right index finger. It is very sensetive to touch. I first though I had burned my finger but couldn't rember any time I had done so. It has lasted about 10 days getting more sensitive each day though tapering off the last few days and remaining the same. It could be a plantar wart someone said but it is white and does not have much of a raised portion 1/32 of an inch in diameter. What to do?
Avatar m tn t remember hitting them hard enough to cause this kind of bruise. I see my hepatologist for the big decision on when to treat and with what. I hope it's not still whether to treat, unless it is because someone else posted that another really good drug is getting FDA approval in August. Should I show them to him or call my regular doctor? Meanwhile, my fingernails are getting "wavy" and one is split down the middle.
745313 tn?1323142298 I just started treatment today and the doctor told me it was possible for you to see brittle nails as part of the TX process, but she said that keeping up my water intake and doing as much as I could to take "stress" off my liver would help keep those (hair and nails) side effects to a minimum. I currently have acrylics and plan on keeping them through TX -- I had nails that would "peel" once they reached a certain length before any of this, and hated them.....

Avatar n tn Purple fingernails all the time mean Raynaud's? Mine turned purple a month ago, just after overexercising and since then they remained purple, is this normal? Also, the coloration doesn't seem to change with temperature, does it still mean it is Raynaud's?

Avatar f tn I have been been dealing with fatigue for years, problem is it could be many things :( My hubby keeps insisting I'm lacking other vitamins and says he wants me tested. He thinks there is more going on then just the Vit D. And after all he is the one who actually sees me going through this mess day after day. As for my Dr. he's pretty open minded with everything. He asks me what medications work and if they work he writes a script.
Avatar f tn Post your FT4 and FT3 levels. How much Synthroid are you taking? You may need more Synthroid or some T3 like Cytomel added to your Synthroid. You still sound hypothyroid. Also, has this doctor checked your adrenals with the 24 hour saliva test? Many hypos will have adrenal fatigue, which will also cause us to be tired. I am feeling MUCH better since starting adrenal cream. BTW - Why are you on thyroid hormone? Hashimoto's Disease?
Avatar f tn re doing (positively) health-wise post treatment may not show up in your hair, skin and nails to up to a year to a year an a half after your treatment. My wife (a nurse) mentioned you practically grow a new body in 18 months relative to skin cells, etc. You are what you eat and how you exercise. Hang in there and give your nails some time. http://www.normanallan.com/Med/askdr/horizontal.
681148 tn?1437661591 t know the answer to most of your questions except that either too much or too little lactose in the diet can cause white marks to appear in your nails and streaks on the teeth.
Avatar f tn Did a doctor diagnose you with a yeast infection, and are you being treated with any antibiotics? If not, I would suggest going to the doctor to know for sure. If you cannot go to a doctor, Vagisil makes a screening kit that tells if you have a yeast infection, bacterial vaginosis, or something more serious such as an STD. You could try that.
Avatar f tn Around multiple fingers on my hands I have hard dry skin around my fingernails. I went to the dermatologist and he said they were some kind of wart and decided to freeze them off. They were gone for a day or two and then they came right back. Any idea what it can be?
