I agree with using the food tracker to see how many calories you are eating each day, then start making small changes, like drinking water instead of soda (including diet soda), or snacking on raw veggies, rather than a candy bar, yogurt in place of ice cream, etc. Exercise is essential to losing weight AND being healthy. There are exercises you can do that should not bother your asthma.

While it is easier to lose weight initially, I would urge you to make smaller goals of 1-3 pounds a week. At one point in time, I calculated 1.76 ounds a week and believe, on the average, it is now less than that. It has taken me 27 months to lose 152 pounds through nutritional food choices and moderate exercise.

Work out when you can, and I used the my fitness pal app. You need to tweak it some because of breastfeeding you shouldn't go under 1600 calories a day, but it can track your calories and if you follow it diligently you will lose the weight. Hard boiled eggs were my go to. Easy to make, and a great filling low calorie high protein snack.

The amount of calories has little to do with weight -- how well and quickly you metabolize and digest foods is the more important factor. That's why, especially for a type 2 diabetic, avoiding simple carbs is the place to start. That means sugar, too much fruit, white flour and the like. These foods metabolize quickly to sugar and stored as fat if not immediately burned.
1359792 tn?1277488784 Please don't skip meals. The best way to lose weight is to "graze" throughout the day. Don't eat big meal portions, but have about 4 small meals. Try to skip unhealthy foods, and go for fruits instead to get the sweet fix. And do anything active, it doesn't have to be running. I don't like running myself, but enjoy swimming or taking the dog for a walk. Just something to keep you moving.
