Avatar f tn Libido in both men and women is related closely to the level of testosterone in the blood (yes women have testosterone produced largely by the adrenal glands and men have so-called female hormones in their system). Testosterone level in the blood can be increased by a number of medications (androgel applied to the skin of the stomach, shots in the buttocks, etc.) all of which require a doctor's prescription.
8309591 tn?1397596954 humm that is right that there would not be a big difference in other lab results but that is a fact that it could change. And the medication about testosterone level i do not really recommend too as your DR. said that it is ok!
Avatar n tn It is the effect of hormones on the hair follicle that produces male pattern baldness. Testosterone, a hormone that is present in high levels in males after puberty, is converted to dihydrotestosterone (DHT) by an enzyme called 5-alpha reductase. DHT has an adverse affect on the hair follicles. Acting on a hormone receptor on the hair follicle it slows down hair production and produces weak, shorter hair, sometimes it stops hair growth from the follicle completely.
Avatar m tn Can anyone tell me what causes me to out of the blue once in a while, I get a hot feeling all over, and it is scary, like I think it is is a stroke, but a few minutes later, I am ok again, but scared that it was a bad sign that something is wrong. I asked my doc over the phone after describing the symptoms what it was, only to be told She did not know. Is there anyone here that have had this happen to them? How do I treat it if possible?
Avatar f tn Breast cancer in males is uncommon, especially in the young, but it can occur. A lump under the nipple of a young boy is most likely gynecomastia, which is common in boys around the age of puberty and is usually temporary.
Avatar n tn The normal range of testosterone in males is 300 -1,000 ng/dL and in females it is 15 - 70 ng/dL.The normal ranges vary among laboratories. Few labs may use different measurements or test different specimens. It is best to talk to your doctor about the interpretation of test results. Write to me again with more queries. Best wishes and regards!
Avatar n tn I'm sorry this is happening. You can have a reaction to anything. There's probably something in the formulation of the liquid that is giving you a reaction. There are other forms of testosterone you can take. There's a patch you can wear on your arm, or a mouth patch, and a gel you apply directly to your skin, usually on the arm. Talk to your doctor about your treatment options. Here's more info on them - https://www.webmd.
Avatar m tn Hi, I'm 17 and 5'4 125lbs. I just like to know if their were anyways to increase my height (and weight). I've already inproved on my weight via new diet and eating three large protien and carb based meals a day (I used to be 117) but I'm more concerned about my height. I will admit I started smoking at 15 and only quit recently. I heard weightlifting, in particular squats increase bone density which I assume will add a few inchs.
Avatar n tn I started taking pregnenolone and 7-keto DHEA thinking it would increase testosterone. I finally went to my doctor 2 1/2 months ago. He ordered blood tests. My total testosterone is 375 on a range that says 250 to 1100 ng/dL. My free testosterone is 71.6 pg (range 35-155 pg/mL) & Testosterone Free % is 1.91 (range 1.50 - 2.20%). The results page says my estradiol is out of range. it says 10L with a range of 13-54 pg/mL.

Lack of testosterone can also decrease libido, cause erectile dysfunction, spur osteoporosis and lead to a loss of muscle tone and mass.

1942878 tn?1324056800 I'm a fairly normal male that enjoys sex like anyone else, but I've always been a very non-aggressive person and my sex drive has been lower than the typical male and lower than my wife's. When we do have sex, after I finish, I have absolute no desire for a second round. That's how I feel physically, but I really do want to be one of those guys that wants to do it twice in a day or night, or have a higher urge throughout the week.
Avatar m tn Hi, Your story is atypical of obese boys going through pubertal development, initial testosterone gets converted to estrogen in the fat tissues and as the testosterone level picks up normal manly features develop. So, as such I do not think you have any reason to worry. Try to reduce your fat, take balanced food and do moderate exercise and over a few years, the gynecomastia should get subsided of its own.

Avatar m tn Sorry for the delay responding to your comment. Although low testosterone is not as common in younger males, it does happen. If you get a doctor that will not run a blood test, I am not sure what recourse you have in the UK. If all else fails, you can try buying DHEA over the counter at a vitamin or health food store (time released if possible). DHEA is a precursor to testosterone and can help raise your levels.
Avatar m tn For some males, especially young males it takes very little stimulation for an erection to occur. This does not mean you are gay or that you are attracted to other males. It most likely is the stimulation of the showers. I know this must be embarrassing for you but rest assured there is nothing wrong, this can be quite normal. In time this will not be an issue as you mature and become less sensitive. Good luck to you. I promise this will get better.

Males have higher expression of heat protein shock genes, suggesting that cellular stress us elevated in males.
