Common Questions and Answers about How much pain breast reduction

Avatar f tn I am 19 and I have really large boobs, I am currently size 32 J and I am unhappy with the way my body looks, people are always staring and i often feel uncofortable in my clothes, I was wondering about the whole breast reduction procedure and how to go about getting it done, and if possible to know how much i could have them reduced by.
7251241 tn?1389567812 I think the breast reduction will be a good thing for you. I too know women who have had this and all are quite pleased. You go down to a more comfortable and natural size-- and so much of the pain and issues are gone. The downside is that it obviously is a surgery that has inherent risks. But I think from what you describe, the benefits may outweigh that tremendously.
Avatar f tn I had a breast reduction four months ago. I am still in pain. Some of the pain is from underneath the breast (which I can't find a bra that doesn't hurt), but the majority of the pain feels like electric shocks or being zapped. When I first started getting these "electric shocks or feeling of being zapped" the nurse said it was because the nerve ending were severed and to take 300 mg of ibuprofen every four hours.
1467664 tn?1288582913 Also! I just thought I should mention this, for a few ladies out there- I had a breast reduction about 4 months ago and it was the BEST THING I EVER DID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :) If you have any questions, please feel free to ask!
Avatar n tn She's on a few rather strong oral narcotics, but she still can't really move without being in pain. She can't sit up on her own, or sleep on her sides without causing pain to the breast area. If it helps, she went from an H cup to a B or C cup, which is a rather big change. She can't sleep at all, so she has a large area under her eyes that is dark and baggy from lack of sleep. Is there anything I can suggest for her to do to relieve some of the pain?
Avatar f tn ) Pretty youthful for my advanced age -- I must say that breast reduction is a great surgery, pretty much pain free and it made my life SO much more comfortable. I didn't have really large breasts until I got into menopause and then they took on a life of their own and moved to another zip code!
Avatar n tn I have a letter of recommendation for breast reduction from my chiropractor. He lists thoracic pain, thoracic root lesion, low back pain and rotator cuff syndrome as some of the reasons why I should have breast reduction. My body is constantly pulled forward because of the weight of my pendulous breasts. My sleep is affected, actually my overall lifestyle is affected by my heavy breasts. I cannot find a bra that fits and I cannot wear a bra all day now.
Avatar n tn Good afternoon ladies, I'm wondering if there are any mothers out there who have had breast reductions and were still able to breast feed. I had a breast reduction 9yrs ago because of severe back pain and now that I'm pregnant I'm worrying that I won't be able to breast feed. I have some feeling in my breasts but not too much so I'm afraid I'm going to miss out on this wonderful experience with my baby. If you or someone you know was still able to breastfeed please let me know! thanks!!
1453524 tn?1295630971 I think that's how I can describe it. I'm calling the GYN today. I know I need a breast reduction (36 g) is way too much and does not help my situation on a whole. Lactating huh? That sounds hormonal but you said they tested that right? Maybe I'll mention that one to my doc and see if she has an opinion. She is the coolest older (been there seen it all and down to earth) types. I'll get back to ya on that one. Have a great day.
Avatar f tn Back in Feb I was approved by Empire BC/BS for a breast reduction due to severe back pain, spinal arthritis, and scoliosis.I'm only 21 years old & had 34E breasts and got reduced down to a 34D.Unfortunatly my left breast is a D and my right one is a C!!!My nipples are not the same size & my right one is hung down to the left too much due to the surgeon taking off too much skin & tissue out of the left side of the breast. The surgeon told me to let me heal & see if it gets better.
Avatar n tn My husband of 28 yrs has been messed up for the past 12 yrs since I had my breast reduction... It has ruined my marriage. I had neck and shoulder pain and my husband WAS supportive about the surgery. We discussed it, watched a video of the surgery together etc. what came after was so unexpected . My husband cried for months, tried antidepressant mess and we did grow apart. I acknowledged his feeling, tried to reassure that surgery takes time to heal and settle down.
Avatar n tn 4 months ago I had breast reduction surgery. Everything went well. I had final visit with PS last week. I asked about a slightly swollen area on one breast with orange peel skin. She was not concerned and suggested I massage as it was most likely lymphatic blockage due to scar tissue. I looked orange peel skin up on the net to find it can be a symptom of inflammatory breast cancer. I have no pain, no swollen glands and tissue removed was clear.
Avatar n tn Subject: Breast Reduction Pain Four Years Later! Question I had breast reduction almost four years ago. My left breast has been hurting so much .When I get cold , the nipple starts to hurt and it sends excruciating pain to the breast. In order to relieve this pain if I am at home I will warm up a heating pad and the pain will start to subside. However, it does not diminish completely. I also experience itching, sometimes the itching is excruciating .
Avatar n tn I also have pain in my back behind my breast. So, I'm not convinced that it's only my breast. I have been taking Evening Primrose Oil, Vitamin E & A. I cut back drastically on my caffeine intake. I drink caffeine-free drinks/coffee..but they are still aching. I really feel like this is a hormonal thing possibly with arthritis. I have had recent gallbladder problems too.
1035252 tn?1427231433 did anyone find the pain care to be insufficient after their surgery? I'm afraid of being in too much pain to care for my kids... Any insight, experience, tips would be helpful...I'm so excited about improving my qualify of life. I'm only 5'2" and having 36EE/EEE's has pulled my back and neck out of alignment (for example, every time I sneeze I pop all the vertebrae in my neck and it freaks me out), so this surgery is going to be an awesome start for me, and a boost to my self-image...
Avatar n tn If her breast size is causing HER discomfort such as back pain, she can have surgical breast reduction. Or if she is gaining breast size as she gains weight, losing weight will also reduce them. But overall, your job is to love your wife and make her feel good about herself rather than trying to change her.
Avatar n tn The reason for breast pain is not clearly understood, and is not usually associated with breast cancer. Breast pain is sometimes associated with hormonal variations and is then called cyclical breast pain. Noncyclical breast pain does not seem to be linked to hormonal variations and is often localized to one area of the breast tissue. Noncyclical breast pain may or may not be the result of an injury to the breast.
Avatar f tn Ive told my hubs many times I want a reduction after we are done having kids and im done bfing I dont think ppl without realize how much of a bother or pain in the back they are!
2056851 tn?1332205872 Very possible that all this pain comes from your breasts and it may be time to consider a reduction (if you can get a dr or two to agree that this is causing severe back pain that will only get worse insurance will usually cover a breast reduction) or trying to loose weight if your breast size comes from being overweight.
Avatar f tn I knew my breasts would droop after the removal, so I also had a breast lift. I am glad I did. My Doctors refused to believe the implants had anything to do with how I felt... so I found an excellent plastic surgeon and had the implants removed on my own. If you have had a rupture and you have insurance, very often your insurance will pay for removal, be careful how you phrase your request for removal, tell them you do not feel well since the rupture.
Avatar n tn Noncyclical breast pain may or may not be the result of an injury to the breast. Breast pain is evaluated based on the history of the pain you would give to the health care professional, as well as a physical examination. Some recommendations for treatment of breast pain involve simple comfort measures such as a supportive or exercise bra, or application of warm or cold packs. Caffeine avoidance, limit salt intake and reduction of dietary fat may also help.

Avatar m tn Hello, Severe pain may be due to delayed wound healing or infection of the wound. Swab samples of the wound/incision line have to be taken and sent for culture-sensitivity along with blood culture to isolate the infecting organism. Then specific antibiotics-topical as well as oral have to be started.Till the report of the culture comes, the doctors will start with broad spectrum antibiotics. Severe cases may require dressings for a longer period of time or even a resurgery to stitch the wound.
Avatar n tn Hi One year ago I started having pain on my left side, under my left breast, behind the front of my rib cage. Also under my L shoulder blade. As there is nothing of anatomical importance really there, except for maybe the esophagus, my doctor prescribed Protonix for an ulcer and said that the intercostal area (tissue between ribs) was probably inflamed. No results. It's no better. Lately, I can barely wear a bra.
Avatar n tn Well I don't exercise as much as you but I need to. I have never gained this much weight so I'm a bit scared of how my body will look like. My tummy is jiggly as well, I don't tuck my tummy in my stomach, "I tuck it in my pants" Lol!. My arms are so big even when I was skinny and they are starting to feel jiggly as well. I'm going to Wal-mart today and I will look for the Body Fortress. I also have those Special KBliss (w/orange) but I hardly crave any sweets or icecream.
Avatar n tn I have been experiencing pain and swelling on my right breast for the last three days. The pain came very sudden and each day the breats is a little larger. A few years back I had a small size lump on the right side between my breast and armpit. A sonogram proved it to be benign. And eventuslly it drained. I am very concerned because it is very sore and the nipple is sensitive to touch. I am 33 yrs old with no children and no history of breast cancer in my family tree.
Avatar n tn I had breast reduction surgery about a month ago. On day 11 of post op I noticed a slight swelling in my right breast. my Dr. tried to drain it but was unsuccessful and told me not to worry. It has now swelled more and is almost entirely bruised a deep purple. I have been in to the Dr.two more times and he has tried to drain it again but not much comes out. He said "short of rushing me into surgery" he's not sure what to do except wait it out.
Avatar f tn Hello, I had a breast reduction surgery April 12th, 2007and a week later started losing tissue through my incisions. My surgeon told me it was fat necrosis. Without going into gory details, I ended up having to go to the surgeon everyday to get the fluid and dead tissue scraped and cleaned out. My surgeon was great, refused to hand me off to anyone else. I ended up with several infections, and had a hard time healing.
Avatar n tn My mom was diagnosed with breast cancer 2 weeks ago. I don't know alot of information, she's only giving me a bits and pieces. Anyway, she's had a mammogram, an ultrasound and then a biopsy that came back positive for cancer. She supposed to have an lumpectomy and treatments. It was then decided to go ahead and do reconstruction at the same time. She had an appt. yesterday about the reconstruction and was asked if it had spread to the lymph nodes (which we don't know).
