Avatar dr m tn While firmly pressing on your cheeks, lift the cheek skin upwards and sideways, pointing towards the outer corners of your eyes. Take a deep breath in. Can you breathe much better through your nose? Let go and try it again. If this maneuver works for you, you may benefit from using nasal dilator strips at night (one brand is called Breathe-Rite). Sometimes, the adhesives on these devices are not strong enough, or end up irritating the skin.
1462810 tn?1327364049 It's expensive, there can be quite a few tests, and this time my insurance is not as good and does not cover it. My family doctor (who has done his best to help me and knows what medicines do to me) is very interested in the results and has helped by ordering some of the tests so that they are being covered by my insurance. I should be getting the last of the tests this month and the results by November. (It doesn't usually take this long... I've been sick and there have been other tie-ups.
Avatar m tn This seems so stupid to me that a doctor can NOT figure this out. How does one go from never having this problem one day to this the next? I swear I think we have a sinus blockage somewhere that is causing this, this just isn't right. I have been using the saline rinse a lot, is it just the regular saline rinse in the white bottle with an orange top??
Avatar m tn lenrosen- what insurance company do u have? i've battled with mine for years without avail. i'd be willing to pay out of pocket for that insurance if they would cover it. it worked wonders for me also- I so need it back !!!!
Avatar m tn Surgery provides immediate relief—significant relief—but it often does not provide a permanent cure. What you will learn in this book is how to clear out the infected schmoo in your sinuses, even more effectively than surgery does, without somebody sticking a machine up your nose. 12. THE COLD The common cold is caused by several different viruses, in fact over a hundred of them. They have names like maxilovirus and rhinovirus.
Avatar dr m tn Do you feel like you can never get enough oxygen into your lungs? Do you feel tired all day no matter how much sleep you get? Have you tried various home remedies, over-the-counter medications or even prescription medications with no help? If you answered yes to any of the above, what you will read below will show you how critical it is to breathe well through your nose. Chronic mouth breathing can not only affect your quality of life, but your life, period.
Avatar n tn So he prescribed Nexium, Ranitdine 300 mg and xyzal (which my insurance does not pay for) I am very frustrated with the whole situation.
Avatar n tn Tumor sounds exciting. How does one find out if you have one? Today just turned out to be a bad day for me. Blurred vision, fatigue, neck aches, weakness you name it. I'm sitting behind a computer for a living, but not living to my best health. I don't know where to turn. I can't figure where to start and keep a job. I have two in college and at 51 in a professional job I can't retire and don't have enough vacation to keep taking off. I guess I was hoping to find the magic solution on a forum.
Avatar m tn I get a sore throat (not tonsils but when you swallow) I now go straight on antibiotics and use Bricanyl inhaler although it doesnt seem to have much effect except to cause alot of mucus coughed up from the lungs. It causes me to have spasm coughing and if I cannot control this to 3 or 4 coughs my windpipe closes over making it hard to breath in or out. The last one about 2 years ago stopped me breathing in and out completely for 10 to 15 seconds and I thought I had bought it.
Avatar f tn My plans are to stay here so in July I plan on getting some type of health insurance, which will be so much better. I don't think my travel insurance covers issues like this as I have had it for almost a year. I know its a personal question greatdane, but do you reoccurring yeast infections at all? I do, which makes me think its related to Candida. And lately my stomach issues have come back, bloating, gas, abdominal pain. I'm trying to hold out until I get my insurance here..
530191 tn?1214166411 Grocery bags or shopping bags always leave a mark that usually lasts the rest of the day. I have learned now how to carry things without touching much, how to dress without looking like I'm wearing a pillow case and who to hand off the bags to. Coping skills are my new best friend. Word to the wise, DO NOT go get your eyebrows waxed (or anywhere else) unless you have a few days to deal with it. Not pretty. Good Luck!
Avatar n tn Just can upon this site by accident...but glad I did! I was looking to see how much scented candles can bother an allergic person...I am definately one...allergy shots that started at age 12. I am now 54 and quit them at age 36. I got extremely dizzy Sat night. I lite some candles about 30 minutes before having company and had to take some allergy med to get rid of the dizziness. I know where you are all coming from. I have had all the tests, CT's, MRI's, etc...about 20 years ago.
2214462 tn?1339431583 Honestly, so far I've only had the internet to help me stress-dose during an infection. I've mostly been treated by my GP who admits to ignorance on the entire subject. I still haven't started the course of Cipro he ordered. I'm not vomiting or anything, but I feel really tired/wobbly and out-of-it on and off. I've had this borderline respiratory and sinus infection for almost two months now, after I fought off the worst of it.
Avatar n tn How do we know when we're allergic to our houses? I live in an old house, and we are trying to get rid of the carpet, but in the process, we're having to do some repairs, as we found some moldy places. All the stirring up the dust is really hard, but I hope it helps. Is there a way to find out if our house is toxic to us? I really feel sorry for Laumandu, but keep on trying. Something odd that happened yesterday. I was just SO dizzy that I could hardly stand it.
Avatar n tn Those of you who have similar condition only will understand how annoying and exhausting this can be and how much it impairs one's life. I'm really desperate and I would give anything to have it back to normal. I have done a little internet research and am going to try this Sinus irrigation device called Hydropulse. If that doesn't work, there is little hope anything else will. But hey if it works for me I will let you know.
Avatar n tn written by a married nurse couple and details how the endorphins affect our health and happiness. Does not go into addiction much but is still worth reading. Authors: Deva and James Beck RNs... Synthesis Press. It's been around about 12 years.. hope you can find it. Maybe there are better and newer books on the topic. And to Spook... yours is the most intriguing reply... the most accurate in my humble estimation.
Avatar n tn Short of moving to a drier climate, what works best for everyone else? I have noticed when the weather changes, my symptoms get worse. How does everyone manage to work, drive and have a normal life?
Avatar n tn ) So I recommend getting some for those times when you start sneezing and can have some time to mellow out without having to work too much. That's my 2 cents for what its worth, and I'm happy I've discovered something that works for me and will for you too. Just do it in moderation please.
Avatar n tn We clean everything up and lay her down and 30 minutes later she does it again without coughing. We clean up again and 10 minutes later she starts whining and throws up again, by this time she doesn't have anything else to throw up. Yoou could tell the day before she wasn't feeling herself because she didn't eat like she normally does. Well, Tuesday she is playing and everything seems ok, still not a big appetite except at lunchtime.
Avatar n tn is this happening cuz i am thinking about it too much?? how many deep breaths a day is normal... if anyone has any advise please let me know and good luck volsy i hope we can get an answer...
Avatar m tn Thank you! If I could pay each of you, I would. Who knows how much you've all saved me in a fruitless pursuit of a magical cure! I'm a 49 yr old male and first experienced this terrifying attack when I was 39. I thought I was dying. I stopped smoking immediately, started eating healthy and exercising regularly. After a few months, it went away and I thought I was free of the affliction.
Avatar n tn It took me seeing 2 different ENTs and all the other specialists for me to even open up to the idea that it might be my neck. I had a clean CT and MRI and was on antibiotics without much gain. I'm not sure my neck is causing 100$% of my problems, but its a least a contributing factor. See this page: I have most of the symptoms you have - the biggest similarity being that I feel the most 'normal and well' when I exercise.
Avatar n tn I'm weighing whether or not to go the epipen route and will decide later today depending on how much worse it gets. My angioedema doesn't seem to have a specific cause although I suspect stress has something to do with it. I've had food allergies in the past but after keeping track of my diet and activities there doesn't seem to be a link. The best my allergist can come up with is to treat the symptoms as they occur.
Avatar n tn I am experiencing a bout of this now, and it is driving me crazy since I do not know how to relieve the symptoms, or how long they will take to go away. It makes it difficult to concentrate and can bring on depression because of the length of time it lasts. The pain can be intense very often and I am at my wit's end trying to deal with it. No point in going to the doctors since they have done everything they can already, to no avail.
Avatar n tn When this happens I feel like I want to release the tension in the jaw joint and can actually 'crack' the joint. This does seem to help for a time. Chewing gum does seem to coax the drainage but I can't overdo it because of the apparent jaw muscle issues. I would like to fix this for good. I find that the daily distraction of my left ear not draining fully (I think) causing a slight fullness and a popping sound when I swallow makes it difficult to focus and is extremely frustrating.
Avatar n tn Lauros, I agree about the gun to the head thing too. I am in so much pain, and knowing that there are other does make a huge difference because the doctors amke you feel like you are complaining for the fun of it. I am close to losing my house. I wish I could work at even the smallest job. I was a nurse making a good living 8 months ago, now I am unemployed and in excruciating pain with a sinus and "ear" infection, despite being on IV antibiotics.
Avatar n tn Well in my left ear I happe to have 3 earrings and they are cheapos (not real)! So I took them out right away. I got some cream for my ear does anyone know how long the pain will last. I am leaving in two days for a LONG road trip 18 hours wish me luck for the pain to go soon.... Thanks for allll your posts!!!
Avatar n tn I haven't had much luck with doctors either, it does seem to be related to allergies, colds etc. On thing that does help is to purse your lips almost like you are going to whistle and breath slowing in / out. That usually keeps me from closing up completely. Try not to breath in hard, that always seems to make it close up tighter, hard not to do when you feel like you can't breath tho.
