983155 tn?1248700406 I heard its rough to get off Paxil, are u under Drs care? I know u can't go cold turkey, thats for sure, its going to take a while, think of how long it took for it to work, so it could be a few more weeks, hang in there! What symptoms are u having?
Avatar n tn I was on 40 mg of Paxil for 4 years and couldn't take the severe exhaustion , "numbness if feeling" or fog so I stopped 6 days ago , cold turkey. How long will the symptoms last and what can I do to relieve them (without a new antidepressant).
Avatar f tn I'm trying to get off Paxil by cross tapering with Prozac to minimize withdrawal symptoms. Right now I'm on 10mg paxil. but I'm not sure how to proceed? My doctor said to take 20mg prozac along with 10 paxil for a month which I don't agree with. Thats because I think if prozac stays that long in my system I will also have trouble getting off of it. So my plan is: Week 1) 10mg paxil 10mg prozac. Week 2) 5mg paxil 20mg prozac. Week 3) 0mg paxil 20mg prozac. then stop.
Avatar f tn well you have kept your dose low but you been on it a yr so its really hard to say how long your withdrawals will last....typically the first 2 weeks you will deal with the physical part of the withdrawals but it is the mental mindscrew that will take a wile to go away the first month is the ruffest....for me the second mo I just sort of stayed in limbo not getting worst or better...it was around 90 days that the energy crash started to go away...
Avatar f tn So, I'm just wondering how long withdrawal from Tramadol usually lasts. I have been doing a lot better lately; the brain zaps are very infrequent, and I usually feel okay on just 2mgs of Suboxone a day. I want to stop taking the Sub when the withdrawal from Tramadol should be over, but I heard that Tramadol withdrawal lasts longer than opiates. I'm getting excited because I might not even need an SSRI, as I am feeling much better from the Serotonin withdrawal symptoms.
Avatar f tn I am going to stop cold turkey tomorrow. Does anyone know how long my withdrawal will last and how bad it will be? I have heard withdrawal from Sub is milder than say.. vicodin or oxy. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
Avatar m tn Long term cognitive problems with paxil? Any recent news or personal experiences regarding long term use..loss of memory, etc.
Avatar f tn I have been through withdrawal from another antidepressant (not Paxil, but in the same class of drugs) and so has my mother. Yes, it can take years, in some cases -- especially if you were on the Paxil for years before starting the taper. One rule of thumb is that the withdrawal will take approximately one month for every year that you were on an antidepressant. But everyone is an individual. The process takes as long as it takes for you, and however long it takes is okay.
Avatar n tn Fish oil might help with the brain zaps. As for how long withdrawal lasts, it depends on the person. So does the taper. If you feel you need to, you can go back on the drug at the last dose at which you didn't have withdrawal and taper more slowly. Effexor is known for tough withdrawals, so what you're feeling isn't at all unusual. I'm not sure what the problem would be taking the klonopin.
Avatar n tn I posted quite a bit the last couple of days due to my 'manic' reaction to this drug. Been taking it a week and going to stop today. It's way too much for me. How long does it take to get out of the system? Will I need to ween off as it has just be a short period? Any input appreciated.
Avatar n tn s odd that I have no headache but I have the most horrible back pain. I never had this before starting Paxil. Last time coming off Paxil I nearly had a heart attack, I was admitted to the ER and given Benzos along with meds to reduce blood pressure and heart rate. I was only there 3 days but when I got home the withdrawal continued. I had no choice but to go back on and tapering did not help. I had months withdrawal even taking Zoloft. My opioid withdrawal lasted 3 days and was not as severe.
Avatar m tn My doc stated that I could switch over to Lexapro from Paxil so I took both for 2 weeks then dropped Paxil all together. Could I still be feeling the affects of Paxil withdrawal? I felt good after 2 weeks and even tried to come down on my Klonopin a couple of days after my paxil ended. Mistake! Just wanting to know if anybody had the same issues and how long do I need to plan on suffering? This is getting old and I'm ready to feel like my old self again.
Avatar n tn The Zoloft, as you discovered, doesn't get rid of Paxil withdrawal, so you have no idea what's causing this -- the Paxil or the Zoloft. That's the downside of moving immediately from one med to another without completing a nice slow taper from the one first. Especially Paxil, which is known to have a strong withdrawal. If the Zoloft proves problematic, taper it down slowly; don't do this again.
Avatar n tn I have never been so miserable in my life. I have been coming down off of Paxil for 6 months. There is no such thing as "weening" off of Paxil. No matter how slow you go, the side effects are still there. I know that I need some type of medication, but am afraid to try anything else for fear of having to go through this hell again. I don't know what to do at this point, it is so bad. It would be so easy to take a pill and "feel better", but I am determined to stop.
Avatar f tn I do concur that doctors tend to push these drugs onto patients as it is the easiest thing to do and it dispenses with the expensive testing to find out the real causes of our anxieties. As for how long I will be on Paxil meds?; Well I had a very traumatic experience that lasted about a year and this is what caused my anxieties (which was 5 years ago) and I have yet to come to terms with it.
Avatar m tn t the problem I had, for which I was prescribed Paxil in the first place, and which I have had for a very long time. What I have now began during the Paxil withdrawal and hasn't gone away. None of the doctors I've seen know what to do. Read what people write, not just what you want to hear that matches your own experiences. People have different experiences.
Avatar f tn First, this could still be withdrawal from the Paxil. By essentially taking two drugs at once you eliminated the possibility of knowing which symptoms are withdrawal and which are from the new drug. Your taper off Paxil was way too quick for that drug, and a lot of your symptoms sound more like withdrawal symptoms than side effects of Wellbutrin. But also, wellbutrin is very stimulating and not usually used for anxiety for that reason.
