Avatar f tn I need to request time off of work for it, but I'm not sure how long I should request off. How long did your glucose test take to complete? How fast did you get the results back?
Avatar f tn How long is the glucose test? I have an apt at 10:00 am on monday What should i eat ?
Avatar f tn My number is also 135 and I read that the cut off is 140 as well, but my clinic called me to tell me that my numbers were elevated so that I needed to take the 3 hour test and I told the nurse that there is no possible way that I can handle it if I could barely even tolerate the 1 hour test so the nurse suggested for me to check my blood glucose at home for one week which I have been doing for three days now and so far my numbers are good.
Avatar f tn My doctor said that the appointmemt I was going to have to take tje glucose test? How long does that usually take? And if I fail it, what happens? Can I eat early in the morning that day I go to my appointment?
Avatar f tn How did u get on in your test? I have to fast from midnight and go to clinic at 8.30 where they'll test my sugar level then give me the drink then wait 2 hours and be tested again and I'll get a light snack at 11.30 before I leave. I'm not looking forward to it.
Avatar n tn My normal numbers are like a 7. I'm wondering how long it would take to get my numbers down at least to a 10 so I can get back to work and then continue to lower it as time goes by. Thanks in advance folks.
4046749 tn?1357107596 They say it's better to fast. My OB had me fast & said it really is best for that kind of test to prove how you tolerate the extra sugar.
869568 tn?1248376515 Then they'll draw your blood to get your initial result. Then, every hour they'll draw your blood again for a total of 4 blood draws. It can make you feel woozy, light-headed and if so, let the lab people know. They may have a place for you to lay down. It didn't affect me at all until after I got home and ate lunch!
171768 tn?1324233699 Then, they take your blood before the drink and then every hour after that for three hours. You have to fast, but I could fast after midnight (they say give 8 hours of fasting), and I never eat after midnight anyway (if you start at 8am, then you should be ok). I did eat less carbs the few days before, as they say it may help. But, if you have GD, then you have it, and eating fewer carbs will do nothing. So, my efforts were futile on the carbs, but I passed.
Avatar f tn They wouldn't let me take the test she said ill hv to cme bk. To be honest my baby cnt tolerate hunger it kicks a fuss specialy wn u hv to fast night before. My babys always hungry wanting food 24/7.. lol.. ny ways once again thank u every one..
Avatar f tn I had my regular app at ten thirty.. And the first time they took blood, it was 11:30 (2 viles). Second time 12:30 (one vile). Third time 1:30 (one vile). Then finely got to go home and eat.. What about you?
6710217 tn?1386114492 It comes in about 8oz or so bottle that you get 10 mins to drink then have to wait an hour for your blood to be drawn. I will say that glucose stuff gave me bad heartburn though...
1240706 tn?1331605711 I asked if I had to fast because that was part of the reason it was hard for me to keep the glucose down and they said I didn't have to but not to eat anything really sugary before the test. Originally the nurse told me I did have to fast, but this time they said it would be okay to eat. She even said if they ask me if I fasted just to tell them I did so they would do the test. That's the way my doctor's office is, though. I hope you get a good result!
Avatar f tn I am also grateful for the prayer for the coast line my aunt lives on Long Island. I have started to ask more questions and I have asked the ones that hit me as vital. It's kind of messed up but this flare up of my sxs is starting to fade away. Which means where my wrist swells isn't as noticeable. But I am grateful the pain is gone for now. Today I am gonna try to find out what test they ran in the past. I know it was many blood test. I didn't get to take a look at the results myself.
808221 tn?1242747788 "I'm wondering how long before I start seeing lower glucose levels." That's too hard to answer. Metformin helps to lower your glucose by producing some insulin in the gut but it really depends on your lifestyle, your nutrition, your activity. Ignore one and you decrease the chance of Metformin helping you. I drafted this document the other day and you will be the first.
Avatar f tn And in reality, this isn’t the case either. Now, to understand how exercise effects weight-loss, you have to understand how your body creates energy, and there are only 2 ways it does it. One is by burning fat and the other is by burning blood sugar, or glucose. Even when you’re not doing anything strenuous your body still burns fat. It’s known as “Resting Metabolic Rate.” So, when you’re sitting at a desk, driving a car, watching TV, or even sleeping, your body is still burning fat.
Avatar n tn Well, I know I'll probably get bashed for this, but grains are NOT the way to go for weight loss. All you are doing with your current diet is reducing your caloric intake. Sure, that will ensure that you will have some calorie deficit but I don't believe that it is the best or healthiest option.
Avatar f tn Tom I take my glucose test. I'm 27+3 Ftm do I fast? Or can I eat? How long does it take? How long before my results?
Avatar f tn I took my hour glucose test a week ago and today my dr said that me levelswe high so I need to do the 3 hour test that requires me to fast for 12 hours then an additional 3 while blood levels are being tested. Has anyone else had to do this? Im worried about it. What happens if thise test come back high? And how the heck am I going to nit eat for that long? I cant even imagine.
Avatar n tn And also they will take you in to the lab, then they will give you a bigger amount of the yucky stuff and give you a few minutes to drink it. Once again you cannot eat or drink. Then every hour for four hours they will take blood to test how your body is reacting to the sugars. After that you go home. It is very bad because it makes you so thirsty and you cannot drink. But really it is over before you know it.
Avatar n tn how long does it take from prediabetes to go to full blown how long should I wait to see dr about pain/tingle/numbness in arm/leg/foot with prediabetes are all the symptoms the same as diabetes if I continue to lose weight and excercise do I really need to worry? thanks so much for your time and feedback.
508203 tn?1233238404 In the first one, I just drank the orange stuff, waited an hour and then went back for them to do the blood. For the next test, they had me fast for 10 hours prior to taking the test, drink the orange stuff, then had blood drawn an hour later and again the following hour. The second test resulted in a normal result. I'm not sure why the first test showed high. Maybe because of what I ate/drank before the test? Not sure. I haven't spoke to my doctor since the test.
Avatar f tn Now that I'm on this diet they tell me to do blood monitoring of glucose levels 2 hrs after eating. Your glucose levels are to return to normal levels after 2 hrs of eating so I'm pretty sure for yourself the sandwich elevated those levels right before your test. A lot of people fail the first test and pass the second though.
Avatar m tn You say you fasted between 10AM and 1PM? That's not a long fast, usually when I'm told to fast prior to a blood draw they tell me at least 8 hours is required. This is usually orchestrated by having the last meal before going to bed, and then get up and go straight to the hospital in the morning without breakfast (with a growling stomach). Do you recall what you typically ate prior to getting your blood draws?
92903 tn?1309908311 I apologize, I really wanted to beat the post prandial glucose issue a little more to death. Now how can I click "post", and the whole thing goes away. Good grief, if you could hear me cursing...mf, cs, f..st!!! Catch you some other time.

Avatar m tn Does anyone know how long it takes for phenobarb to get out of the system? The vet said approximately 12 hrs, but that is obviously not the case. Also, since this morning he is having unusual smelly penile discharge, but he is still urinating fine. Has anyone experienced this? Is this a something to worry about? Also, I really do not like the effects of phenobarb and am talking to my vet about Zonasimide or possibly Felbamate. Does anyone have experience with these?
Avatar n tn I'm up to 10 to 15 a day now and take five just to get me moving in the morning. This is no way to live. How long and how hard are the with drawals from it? I don't want to live my life around this drug anymore. Just a word of encouragment some times is what I think I need and to know that I am not alone.
Avatar m tn I agree with diabetes86, that you should check your 1 1 /2 - 2 hours post eating blood sugars to see how high you are actually going. For many people who are developing diabetes, their fasting blood sugar will remain "normal' much longer than their post eating levels (after all their bodies have 8 - 10 hours overnight to try to correct their sugar levels).
