How long for macrobid to work

Common Questions and Answers about How long for macrobid to work

Avatar f tn In a case of yeast in the genitals, over the counter products like Monistat and canesten work well and you will begin to notice a difference after about one week. For the bowel, you need to eat a lot of yhogurt, as well as acidohilis. You might even need to get prescription from a doctor. In the case of oral trush a prescription is needed as I'm not aware of over the counter products. One product used if I have it correct is Diflucan (not sure about the spelling.
Avatar m tn I got diagnosed with epididymitis a week ago and the pain has just now began to leave. Is this common and how long does it normally take for the pain to go completely away along with the swelling? My scrotum hasn't swollen and i've had a ultrasound, blood test, and urine sample and all came back negitive for cancer or a tumor. I'm really frightened about it and hope that this is just epididymitis.
162948 tn?1205256292 I know your period is the lining in your uterus which the mirena keeps it thin so obviously keeps mine to nothing since i dont bleed. I am really concerned now as to how long it is going to take me to concieve. I had a friend who got hers pulled out and got pregnant the next day. Now I really wonder when I should get it taken out. Now or when hes here so we can have sex right away.
1168718 tn?1464987135 Well, we are back on Macrobid, for 10 days, not happy about that, but what can you do. Last time it took 30 days of Macrobid to clear me up, that is when supposedly I was clear, when the WBC was way out of range. Gotta love these NEW fandangled things... LOL Well, we have been keeping somewhat busy when we can. We finally rented the basement suite after we re-modeled it. A nice, single lady, so are stoked about this.
Avatar n tn I did not know that reflux had a genetic component at the time, and had not disclosed that to my OBGYN. I had had childhood infections but had never been evaluated for reflux. I had to take microbid multiple times during my first pregnancy, but my child in that pregnancy was born healthy. So, on the second child, as the first, we did not do specialized imaging studies inutero, and even if we had the reflux or the defects might not have been apparent until after birth.
Avatar f tn She prescribed a sulfa based antibiotic for me to use for two weeks, and told me to return yet again to see what happens. She told me I should return to my gynecologist immediately to get the hpv lesions removed (I'm using aldara cream for them currently), and to talk to him about the urinary tract infection. I'm really not sure why yet ANOTHER antibiotic hasn't worked on me or why the gynecologist needs to evaluate the uti?
Avatar f tn If he doesn't go to work at least one day out of the week, then I am not insured for that week. He was recently injured outside of work and is unable to go to work, which means I'm not insured right now and I definitely can't afford to go on my own. From all of the stuff I've read online about other causes of the frequent urination (IC, Kidney Stones, etc), I can't seem to find anything that sounds like my issue. I don't have any pain or itching, literally just the urge to urinate.
Avatar f tn e,, The UTIs are probably contributing to a relapse and docs solution to the UTI is macrobid - aah, and then benadryl to try to quell the reaction to the macrobid! No wonder you are at your wits end. My suggestion is to look the doc dead in the eye and demand another antibiotic for the UTI. Tell he/she you are willing to take your chances on another med. How long does the numbness and loss of function last each time?
1740498 tn?1328966185 I may still see a Urologist due to IC possibility as well as any continuation of FC if the Cipro doesnt work. I do feel it would be a good idea for you to see a Urologist with regards to your bladder symptoms. Try and get an appt with a good Urologist. Maybe your GP/local Dr will be able to refer you to a good one. You have nothing to lose and from experience, with each Dr you see, you will pick up more information along the way.
Avatar m tn At one point they were going to put me on long-term low level antibiotic therapy cause I kept getting the UTI's. I am allergic to Macrobid. Levaquin and Cipro work well for me *usually* Thanks for taking the time to put this together .... this is what it's all about .. helping each other and finding a cure.
Avatar m tn I've been severely allergic to aspirin for as long as I can remember. It brings on nosebleeds and causes me to vomit blood. I also avoid NSAIDs as they give me a horrible bloody taste in my throat. 2. All through my childhood until my late teens I got very bad nosebleeds, sometimes 3 or 4 a week, lasting for at least half an hour each time. I was taken to the doctor but was told it was a phase and never had any tests/investigation.
Avatar n tn To have a kidney infection is fustrating enough, without the problem of getting the right antibotic to work for you. I took one antibotic (Macrodantin) for 3 years CONTINOUSLY and I *still* got the infections. The effects of taking antibotics for a long period of time, I feel is damaging to the body. But having the infection is also damaging. After a period of time, the function of our kidneys will deteriorate, as mine already has.
Avatar f tn One of my dearest friends has been suffering with cancer and passed away this weekend .I have been unable to come on for about a week now and I wanted you to know how sorry I was to not be here for you .I have been having some bad health issues and also trying to be there for my friend .I feel close to a nervous breakdown right now and I just can't deal .I hope everything goes well for you today and know I am thinking of you .
147426 tn?1317269232 Much has been clarified for me, for which I'm grateful. I've learned what to look for and what to ask about when I see my neurologist. Mostly, I've learned that no matter how bad things get for some, there's always many on this forum ready to give advice, encouragement and a shoulder to cry on. There's always someone who understands exactly what you're talking about, no matter how crazy it may seem to you. Take some time to get familiar with this forum.
168348 tn?1379360675 My dh NEVER got to sleep. Had been trying to quit waking him up to check on everything all night long (poor man) so I would sit frozen in bed listening to all the noises our new trailer made. So this one night I hear a BIG noise right out in front and came right under our bedroom window, but was too afraid to look, you know it could have been Big Foot or something. So woke him up and he said it was one of the cats. Don't think so! He wouldn't get up and check.
Avatar f tn I took macrobid as well. How long ago did u last take it and what are ur symptoms? Macrobid really messed me up.
Avatar m tn But i'm only approved for 3 months so far... I was just wondering how long it took for the hives to stop appearing, what the dosaging has been and how often for the shots because my doctor seems convinced that you only need 3 because of an article he read but most of my research suggests otherwise....
Avatar f tn at least the IV antibiotics should work prettty quick, and hopefully you wont be there for too long... i hate staying in hospitals and ive only had to once! lol that was enough for me!
749677 tn?1253694225 bronchitis) and it was down to 51. I started taking Bactrim for the bronchitis and my kidney pain felt better within 2 days! When I went off it, the pain gradually began increasing. I am now taking Bactrim daily for 3 months to see if it clears up a hidden infection. In one month my eGFR is back up to 59! (I did not know kidney function could increase!) I have more energy and stamina already. Nothing ever cultures out with my urinalysises, but I always had symptoms of UTI.
Avatar n tn At this time it is best for you to work with your doctor to sort this out. I doubt that what you have is an STD. It could be another yeast infection due to all of the antibiotics you have taken. I have little more to add and think it is time to end this thread. No more questions please. Work to sort this out with your docotor.
Avatar f tn If that is what it is, then no wonder you are still having symptoms. How long are you giving the medication to work? Sometimes it takes more than a week to get relief when taking antibiotics. Give it about 10 days after taking your meds and keep following up with the OB/GYN.
6320170 tn?1380351097 They told me to continue my levothyroxine that I had just started that day. Gave me macrobid for my UTI and Xanax for my Body tremors. I then had to return to the DR. several times because my condition was worsening. She then orders a new blood panel on 8/22/13, and new urine because even after the macrobid I still had a UTI.. calls me in on 8/26/13 and diagnoses me with Lupus. RA. Osteoporosis. And Hypothyroidism. she continues me on the levothyroxine. But my condition worsens.
Avatar n tn Is it safe to wait and discuss with him at that time? I have a tendency to overreact to medical issues and am looking for a voice of reason! I just really don't know how serious an issue this is. Thank you for your time!
Avatar f tn I was given a three day course of antibiotics which didn't work, then I had a week long course of macrobid which didn't work. The last was Cypro something and that didn't work. It doesn't hurt when I pee but I almost always have this feeling like I need to go. I go every hour sometims twice and hour and I get up at least twice at night. I have some pain in the right side that comes and goes. I have been to the health food store and tried lots of different things.
648103 tn?1224989268 I HAVE BEEN DEALING WITH THIS NOW FOR 6 WEEKS. I am going to lose my job if I can't get back to work soon. The neuro's are upset because I keep switching doctors, but I'm not looking for drugs, I'm looking for an answer and a cause to my problem so I can get my life back. This has been quite disabling for the most part. I am very depressed and have been on antidepressants, pain and anxiety meds. I have also been in PT for myofascial release & really haven't felt much better.
Avatar n tn Do you think that maybe the antibiotics haven't completely worked and i should wait a few days or do you suggest i go back to the doctor? how long does it usually take to completely cure an infection? I was reading on the net and it said that it takes between seven days and fourteen that true? The doc said that she thought the infection was spreading to my kidneys because i had a low grade fever and flank pain. But i was feeling fine up until two days ago. Any advice?
2109342 tn?1380912575 I have taken Levaquin a few times and never had a problem with it. Even took it for 30 days when I had pneumonia the first time, over 10 years ago. Last night, I took 1/2 of an Aleeve tablet, at bedtime. Pain was gone within 20 min. So, I'm now thinking the pain and stiffness in neck & shoulders was Lyme. I've had so many aches, pains & stiffness for over 18 years. Even though so many at my age, got around so much better than me, I thought I was just growing old at a faster rate.....
2176548 tn?1340681417 If you attach it a bit higher than the back and towards the side it helps. It stays hot for 8 hours. How long it is painful depends on how well or how quickly the meds work. Your doctor or pharmacist may be able to answer this question better. Good luck. Hope your pain doesn't last long.
1168718 tn?1464987135 They put me on Macrobid, and since they took so long to do the test, now, I will not be finished by Tues when I have my surgery. Not sure what to do. When I have the surgery, they put a 3 day antibiotic with the IV during surgery. Should I stop my pills on Tuesday...... then continue it when I get home. I`m so tired of feeling this way. 2 bouts with Cipro and then nothing for 5 days, cause it took so long to do the results. I am just hoping they won`t cancel my surgery on Tues. ...
