Common Questions and Answers about How long does wisdom teeth removal last

teeth

Avatar m tn It varies from person to person but it can last up to a week in terms of pain. It might still be sore or annoying for several weeks but generally, the worse of it is over in a week or less. I've had patients who have bounced back in several days and other's who take the whole week. Has the symptoms improved at all since the extractions?
Avatar f tn So how long does a stomach flu/virus usually last? because I've been feeling sick since Friday and it is now Tuesday. I threw up for about 2 days and had diarrhea which just stopped today. I feel incredible weak and hungry but i dont know what to eat. I havent thrown up since sunday morning (at 4am.. not fun) thankfully. But I still feel sick anddizzy and lightheaded and weak. My stomach/sides are sore. I've had a headache for weeks.
Avatar n tn Post-op discomfort after wisdom teeth removal may last weeks. Wisdom teeth are frequent occlusal interference. It's common patients feel the jaw position or bite is different after wisdom teeth removal. This is probably what you described " misaligned". If you do'nt have temporomandibular disorder, the bite will be realigned after a couple of weeks. If you do have tmd problems, seeing a tmj specialist is advised.
Avatar n tn Post-op pain from the removal of your wisdom teeth should not last that long. When they extract the wisdom teeth, they are pretty close to a facial nerve and facial muscles, so it can very well be a problem with the muscle being damaged/torn. Though the wholes where the teeth were are usually present for a long time and can become infected. I'd talk to the oral surgeon who did the extractions. Good luck.

Avatar f tn I've been having pain due to my wisdom teeth for the last couple of days. Have any of you gotten your wisdom teeth removed while pregnant? Ive heard the dentist can only do it if its an emergency and in about your second trimester. Im 18 weeks right now. And i wanted to see if any have gotten this done.
1550634 tn?1296568028 The pressure feeling may be coming from the movement of the teeth. Its normal to have some pain or discomfort from your wisdom teeth as they come out. Try some over the counter pain medication such as Tylenol or Motrin (whatever you would take for headaches that's safe for you) and see if that helps. I took my 4 wisdom teeth out with an oral surgeon and I was put asleep. Didn't remember a thing.

Avatar f tn How would getting my wisdom teeth removed mean for nursing? Is it safe to nurse while taking the post-removal pain medication? Can they just use Novicaine or must they use something stronger? How long does the surgery take (as my baby nurses every 2-3 hours)? I have to wait until after Christmas to call a dentist since no one will be available until after the holiday. In fact I don't even have a dentist in this area so who knows how long I will have to endure this pain.
Avatar f tn Hey all! I am almost 24 years old and I have all four of my wisdom teeth. I avoided going to the dentist during college, and when I FINALLY went in August, he told me I needed my wisdom teeth out, pronto. I went to see an oral surgeon and he disagreed with my dentist that I really needed them out urgently. He said that because my teeth were fully grown, many people my age elect to take a "wait and see" approach.
Avatar f tn Almost 2 years ago I had my lower left wisdom tooth removed, ever since I have had problems with my jaw. My jaw now pops, clicks, grinds, and makes crunching noises as well as locks. It causes me a lot of pain at times and seems to now be very sensitive to cold weather. I also notice that when opening and closing my mouth it seems like the alignment of my jaw is wrong, the right side appears to pop out when my mouth opens and the left does not.
Avatar n tn Hi My daughter (16 years old) had her wisdom teeth out about 16 days ago. She had "cysts"(what the oral surgeon called them) around her bottom 2 wisdom teeth and the top 2 teeth were impacting the sinuses so he had to put extra stitches in to close the sinus. The bottom left one was the worst and had to have an extra long incision cut into it. It would not quit bleeding so it was packed with gauze and we returned 4 days later for removal of the packing.
Avatar n tn I do not want to discourage you from seeking help from this impairment but I do want those who are researching wisdom teeth extraction to know that this does happen to people, more than you would think - I am not one in a million.
Avatar n tn I've read many stories on here and mine is similar. Following wisdom teeth extraction I was given vicodin. I liked the way it made me feel and how it made dealing with everday problems seem easier. I've been taking about 10mgs a day (all at night) and 100mgs of tramadol during the day for about 6 months now. I've had enough and tapered down to almost nothing for a week before stopping completely. It's been 5 days now since I've had anything.
Avatar f tn Any wisdom teeth experiences or words of advice would help. Also if anyone has taken halcion for wisdom teeth removal let me know.
Avatar n tn My tongue still feels like is did the day of surgery. Which is scary--how long should I expect this? When will the sensation return to normal? Please reply, getting worried.
Avatar m tn t say for sure whether or not it was necessary because its a judgement call from the doctor on how comfortable he feels reading the 2D picture and being able to remove the wisdom teeth. There is a risk of nerve damage from wisdom teeth extractions.
