Common Questions and Answers about How long does it take flomax to work

Avatar m tn I had my first attack with a kidney stone. It came on suddenly and was so painful I thought I was going to die. Went to the hospital ER and was taken in immediately. I did not receive any pain medication until the blood tests were evaluated. The pain meds only took the edge off the pain but it was a welcomed relief. My pain was a 10+ and pain management brought it down to a 3 to 4 but what a relief it was. After approximately 3 hours in the ER the pain stopped.
63984 tn?1385441539 With these techniques the complication rate is now only very slightly higher than normal. The problem FIS is unique in that it doesn't seem to correlate with how much Flomax, how long its been taken and even if it was stopped. Thus a man taking Flomax and finding it helps his enlarged prostate symptoms should not stop Flomax if he develops a cataract. Flomax does not cause cataracts or other eye problems.
Avatar m tn I've heard taking Flomax and hour or 2 before will soften the prostate and allow the antibiotic to better penetrate the prostate? Does it matter if I take them in the morning or evening, or is the rule just be consistent? Thanks again.
Avatar n tn hi warney, do know how long will it take for a stage 4 patient to stage 5? and can a stage 4 patient be pregnant? isn't that too risky? thank you,.
Avatar f tn I called a specialist to ask how much it would cost without health insurance. They estimated that it would be $3,000 to $7,000. Not just expensive, but prohibitively expensive. I’m from the Philippines, and my cousin is a doctor there, so I called him. He was appalled at the price that I was quoted, and told me to go to the Philippines to get these tests. Here’s why: Each of those two tests cost $20. For a total of $40, or the price of a cheap meal for two in the U.S.
Avatar m tn As far as which drugs you can take, that is something you and your doctor are going to have to figure out. Your doctor knows your medical problems. All drugs do not work on all people. Many people have good results from some drugs and yet have poor results from others. Your doctor should know any other medical problems that you have and which drugs may be the best possible drugs to take instead of the drugs you are now taking. One size does not fit all.
Avatar m tn have been prescribed zoloft but thought that before I start this 9 months course of medication I would exhaust all other options... Does anybody know anything about serelax? does it work... read up about it and it looks great. Has anyone got some real personal experiance with the stuff?
Avatar n tn So I thought it would work, but it was slowly getting worse and worse. Then Sunday, it was back at its worst again. Constantly feeling like I have to go to the bathroom. I'm in such discomfort trying to fall asleep, it takes me a couple hours!! So today I called the doctor again and told him how its not getting better and I wanted to see a Urologist. Does anyone have any indication to what I may have?
Avatar m tn because you are in a VERY long and strong could take SEVERAL days of taking the pyridium for it to really kick I would keep taking it for a week...just see what happens...
284078 tn?1282620298 ) Her ocular pressure was actually only slightly elevated and with cessation of the Topamax, her pressure returned to normal in a day, while it took over a week for her vison to return to normal. It was extremely impressive the way the lens moved forward initially. After a week, the lens moved back to normal position and the eye looked completely different as if from another person. It was really something I will never forget.
572651 tn?1333939396 I had called them and told them to read it and I would be in today to get it back. When I stopped I also dropped off to the cardio doc a copy of the esophageal spasm/cardiac spasm information along with a quick note from me. That will make his day to see me trying to play doctor still - I just can't seem to let this connection thing rest until I can get a reasonable scenario worked out in my head about what happened to my body. Stop #3 this morning was the urogynecologist.
1530342 tn?1405020090 They get EVERYTHING that is offered while I'm here with my son and my poor husband that works 12-13hr days (I thank god that he does have a job) to take care of us. IT STEAMS ME UP.. I mean I worked at a bank for 10yrs before we decided it was more cost effective for me to stay home. Our child care bill was $200 per week ($800.00 per month not including food that was an extra $50 per week). My husband is the bread winner.
Avatar m tn The urologist prescribed me Flomax and Xatral and he told to me to take the one doing better job. It is looking for me that Flomax is doing better, but I am concerned about the Flomax and the PSA value. Also, I used to take Flomax for a while but when I stopped it the symptoms coming back. The concern for me is the PSA velocity but my GP and urologist does not pay to much attention to it.
Avatar m tn Hi, How long have you been taking advil? Advil has been known to worsen prostate enlargement. "People with heart disease, high blood pressure, thyroid disease, narrow angle glaucoma, or difficulty in urination due to enlargement of the prostate gland should not take this medication unless directed by a doctor"
Avatar f tn I wish you all the luck in the world that this does not turn out to be what you think it may be and that you can continue on as is. Please be patient for a response and keep in touch!

Avatar n tn I have not seen any improvement at all in my long does it take for a obvious difference? What if this does not work at all? He also gave me a booklet on Prostiva RF...which he said might me the next step. He is quite concerned on the size of the prostate as well as the very limited flow that I have. So my question is...what are next steps if the uroxtral does nothing to improve my condition? Also...should I be concerned that this is occuring while I am relatively young?
Avatar f tn My issue is hesitancy. I can feel like I need to urinate but am unable to do so. It can take a while for me to start, and once I do I often don't empty my bladder completely. I manage my issues by taking Flomax, a drug intended to treat enlarged prostate. There is nothing wrong with my prostate, but MS makes my body think there is.
Avatar m tn The MS counselor is 60 miles away, and hubby doesn't drive there on his own, we'd have to take days off work. Not sure how to proceed. Can meds be helpful if lesions aren't worsening but symptoms are? How much do you pay per month for meds? Do you have cognitive deficits? Do you work? Maybe it's better and happier for my husband to be in denial than face the possible reality.... Advice?
686246 tn?1252428681 The pain went away for a week or so and then came back, and I had to go to the uro.. it was in my bladder stabbing me, and I couldn't stand it anymore, she did find blood and bacteria in my urine and said by next week ,, we would need a KUB to make sure it's out. I haven't been feeling well.. flu like symptoms..and actually have been really depressed, crying alot, fatigued even more than usual..
Avatar f tn First of all as long as the stone remains in the kidney, it usually does not cause a problem. If it is or you have a chronic infection, then it needs to be treated. Otherwise it may stay in the kidney and never drop into the ureter. In that case, it can live there. I will die with many of my stones still in my kidney. If the stones is in the ureter, IT NEEDS TO BE REMOVED WITH OR WITHOUT INSURANCE. A stone in the ureter can cause obstruction of the kidney.
Avatar f tn Lupo, I'm 55 years old and never had a serious illness (I was a bicyclist for many years) until 7 weeks ago when I was found to have renial retention that was determined to be due to the bladder sphincter muscle not opening sufficiently for many weeks (painful starting), and after I was drained of a large amount of urine my kidneys, thank the Lord, returned to normal, however, on returning to work everyone (myself included) noted how thin I looked, and in fact in just that 2 week period I had
Avatar n tn I really appreciate this site and I want to point out how helpful it is not only to me but surely to others that are looking for info. Thank you.
Avatar m tn I was very close to asking someone to take me to emergency. It was very scary. I've been extremely stiff ever since, and I currently move slower than an arthritic 80 year old man. I want everyone reading this to know that this does not mean that I have M.S. I know the regulars already know that, but I hope something can be gleamed from what I have been through the past four years. Self-diagnosis is extremely dangerous, and self-treatment even moreso.
Avatar m tn pain meds aren't working...sometimes it eases the pain a lil but never takes it away...i am curious as to how long this is going to go on? Is this something I should go to Er about or give it time to go away?
Avatar n tn It is not serious because it is easy to treat usually you just take some antibiotic for a few days and leave it alone for a couple of week for it to heal. but in your case an injection might needed since it's been going on for a while.
Avatar f tn I have very bad back pain right at the bottom of my spine. I believe at this point it is due to not getting out all of my stool. I take Mirlax to help with constipation. About once a week I have a decent bowel movement, but can't quite get it all out. This causes me to leek stool through out the next couple of days when I bend over or sometimes just when I walk up stairs. When I reported this to my Neurologist he sent me to a Urologist, who now has me taking 0.
Avatar f tn I've heard that even though my partner tested negative- she could have still passed the virus to me? After reading about this virus, it scares me more as to how "elusive" it is. It hides and reappears, has symptoms/doesn't have symptoms. Scary. I'm mainly concerned because herpes or not- I can't understand why I've been in pain or uncomfortable for so long.
Avatar n tn Hi Dave, I have what I've been told are "lumps of fatty tissue" on my forearms and thighs and that they are nothing to be concerned with. Some are as big as the size of a quarter - and some are smaller. They are not painful and they move around when I push down on them. That being said, I think any lump is worth a mention to the dr.
