Here I am now one & a half years after and I have been diagnosed now with a paraesophogeal hernia and a zenekers diverticulum. The first hernia was a sliding hernia and they are very common. Often not treated if no symptoms are present. I did have symptoms. As I do now. My paraesophogeal hernia is considered medium size.

Since you are so active, perhaps the surgeries failed because of your activities. My mother had a mesh put during her initial debulking surgery and not due to a hernia problem. She developed a nodule at the site from which they drained fluid to diagnose her OVC. They make you fast 24 hours before scope which tends to make the hernia "slide" down. Anyway, I have learned self adjustment techniques that help push the stomach back down.
