341655 tn?1240368839 Very successful surgery. Although there is no guarantee that it will last or for how long. I had a thoracic surgeon a very good one. Here I am now one & a half years after and I have been diagnosed now with a paraesophogeal hernia and a zenekers diverticulum. The first hernia was a sliding hernia and they are very common. Often not treated if no symptoms are present. I did have symptoms. As I do now. My paraesophogeal hernia is considered medium size.
1166907 tn?1263101648 After surgery, he has to be precautious while bending down and lifting heavy weights. The aim of the surgery is wound strengthening, so that hernia does not occur again. If the gap is large, then a mesh may be used. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar m tn thanx , any idea how long can i wait before surgery, as it is this surgeon advised that take advice from atleast two more surgeons before going through the surgery.
Avatar m tn I am so sorry that your hernia operations failed. How frustrating for you! There is so much controversy over the mesh being used right now it would certainly be a tough decision on your part whether to have another surgery or not. Since you are so active, perhaps the surgeries failed because of your activities. I really can't tell you not to have the surgery - only you know if you can tolerate living with a truss for the rest of your life.
415684 tn?1257329318 My mother had a mesh put during her initial debulking surgery and not due to a hernia problem. She developed a nodule at the site from which they drained fluid to diagnose her OVC. She is now 4 months post op but still feels lot of stretch internally at the mesh site. Other than that she has had no problems. She was even able to take IP chemo with this mesh inside.
Avatar f tn I think that the kind of hernia surgery you are looking at it is a relatively simple surgery, as far as surgery goes. I don't think the dog will have to be put under deep anaesthesia, the procedure is something that is done close to the surface, and it is a fairly quick operation. I would expect a healthy dog to recover well. Your boy might have some activity restrictions while he is recovering, to keep him from pulling the stitches loose and undoing the procedure.
1453282 tn?1285174943 Having a difficult time finding any recent discussion on this particular druge. Trying to find out how long I can expect this to last... 2 weeks, 3 weeks, more? My doctors office act perplexed that I am still having symptoms, is there such a thing as being highly dependent on a drug? What can I do to speed up the process?
Avatar n tn Hi. I have been dealing with a, what the doctor says, is a small sliding hiatal hernia found via endoscopy. I feel like the hernia is much larger than the 2cm he saw on the scope. They make you fast 24 hours before scope which tends to make the hernia "slide" down. Anyway, I have learned self adjustment techniques that help push the stomach back down. It doesn't last long on me but helps. The acid burn is control well via Nexium.
Avatar f tn I have several fun stomach issues, including GERD, a hiatal hernia, and now gastroparesis. I seem to always have heartburn, despite being on medication for almost 9 years. My esophagus is not "abnormal enough" to repair my hiatal hernia. There does not seem to be much available for my gastroparesis, since Reglan made me sick, Amitiza is not covered by my insurance, and I have no idea if Novardis will accept me to go on Zelnorm.
1118349 tn?1325499936 What does PPO mean? I do know that it's a long process of test after test before being approved for the surgery. You'll need to do the pH mannometry test and possibly the Bravo test. Very uncomfortable tests. Not always painful, but uncomfortable. An aquaitence had some pain with the Bravo test. You'll have to find out what your insurance requires before they approve of the surgery.
Avatar f tn I am 31 years old and had my operation with congenital hernia last 2011 but still my operation was quite painful whenever i does physical activities. Is it normal?
749700 tn?1234838207 The surgeon said that it was normal but the last surgery was over a year ago and most I have talked with that has had this surgery do not have these issues. One of my other surgeons has stated that since the last surgery I have contracted IBS and a spastic colon. Why would this have occurred if the surgery was a success?
Avatar n tn i am not anemic, have seen pulmonologist, and surgeon. how long can i expect fatigue to plague me.
