Common Questions and Answers about How long does an acne cyst last

acne

Avatar n tn I have had an inflamed cyst for about a month and a half now. My dermatologist has twice injected it with cortisone. The inflammation goes down significantly for about a week or so, but returns to pre-injection size thereafter. Is the cortisone only a temp solution until something more permanent can take over? I'm also taking antibiotics. So far no results after a week. What will bring this sucker down permanently, aside from removing it surgically?
Avatar f tn Was it from material that leaked from the cyst or from bacteria at the incision site? And how long does it usually take for an infection like this to clear up? I can't imagine prolonged use of antibiotics is good for me either, I'm worried about being susceptible to other bacteria now.
Avatar n tn An acne cyst can appear similar to a nodule, but is pus-filled, and has been described as having a diameter of 5mm or more across. They can be painful. Again, scarring is common with cystic acne. Squeezing an acne cyst may cause a deeper infection and more painful inflammation which will last much longer than if you had left it alone. Dermatologists often have ways of lessening swelling and preventing scarring.
Avatar m tn Health anxiety is right. This is probably an acne cyst. Just leave it alone and stop fretting about it. It will likely diminish in time.
Avatar n tn I have an acne cyst on my cheek that has been there for about 2 weeks and its driving me insane...its impossible to cover up with makeup, it hurts, it won't come to a head, and its disfiguring my face! I've had a couple cysts in the past but they've all eventually came to a head. I just want this to go away. Does anyone know any techniques about how to get a cyst to go away or come to a head?
Avatar f tn I had a zit on my nose for four months. There is an area of imflammation, and my dermatologist said this is imflammation left over from the pimple, that will slowly fade. Does this make sense. He told me it was not a raised scar, because it wasn't scar tissue and it had wide open pore. Is it reasonable to believe this inflamation(looks like a bump, bubble) its soft, will fade?
