Common Questions and Answers about How long does a hysterectomy procedure take

hysterectomy

Avatar n tn The doctor said I could still have endo. even if I had a hysterectomy. How? if having a period is the cause?
Avatar f tn Of course the two issues would be resolved during a vaginal hysterectomy, I am of corse not a doctor, but as for a theory on how this happened I have two ideas, you likely had andeomysis as well and your uterus was quite enlarged, or you may have had some trauma from Lap that you where not aware or informed of...in any case the important thing is your isssues have been repaired and your doing well?
1221705 tn?1297193069 What does the surgery involve I am very scared. How big does the cyst have to be to have surgery because mine is 3cms but I am having so much pain I cant handle it. It hurts to sit, lay, stand, walk anything. IT HURTS. I have back pain and stomach pain and a lot on my left ovarian side. It is causing my left leg to feel very stiff and hurt a lot. I am scared and in pain.
Avatar f tn I have had a few issues going on with period,I had surgery on April 1st for the mirena & a d&c not due to a miscarriage or anything like that but it was for my heavy periods I was on the shot for about a yr or so & it caused a lot of problems. After about a month or so I had to have the mirena moved cause it got out of place somehow I was spotting a bit when the mirena was in & then I continued when it was out!
Avatar f tn rectocele and cystocele in less than ten days. What does all this mean, how long will I be in the hospital, and how long will recovery take, approximately? I know we're all different and circumstances will dictate the exact amounts, but if you have had these three procedures will you please share your story? What was it like before, and after? Tips and suggestions will be greatly appreciated! Thanks for sharing!
Avatar n tn I have had Essure since 2009. Bled and clotted so badly I got a D&C and ablation in 2011...bleeding stopped with the Novasure (which wasn't supposed to be performed because of the Essure) but pelvic pain continues and continues to get worse, along with other "side-effects" I was never warned about before getting these things. I am now looking at a hysterectomy thanks to these coils. They produce anything but "normal side-effects" Good luck to you.
Avatar f tn They also did the bladder sling procedure because of a prolapse. She developed a serious infection around the sling procedure and was treated with antibiotics. She also developed an over active bladder. The urogynecologist said there is no fistula, but rather her bladder has become over active because of the hysterectomy and the sling procedure. She also said that it is a temporary condition, but put her on Detrol. Her condition had not improved. In fact, it seems to be worse.
Avatar f tn Hi, I'm 42 yrs old and just seen my spec for a grapefruit sized 'lump' that has been found outside of my uterus, attached to my left ovary. It is pushing my uterus out of place and pressing on my bladder, making my life quite miserable. He has said it is neither a cyst or a fibroid but it is also not cancerous which is a relief. He has given me 2 options. 1 is to detatch the lump via by belly button and then make a bikini line incision to remove the lump.
Avatar n tn I'm sorry you went through that. I too still have issues with my bladder, scar tissue, pelvic pain and I am pretty sure that the endo has returned/more cysts are developing 4 yrs post-op. I read your comment again (ihatemyscars) and saw that you explained why you felt so strongly against your procedure/hysterectomy. I hope that you won't take my previous comment too badly, I did not mean to come off as nasty.
Avatar n tn the ob/gyn has suggested me to undergo hysterectomy during the procedure if i have excess of bleeding during the procedure as i am anemic. i want to know the pros and cons regarding the hysterectomy ..how much risk will it involve on my life? please suggest???
Avatar n tn t want to go through a surgical procedure and then end up having to have a hysterectomy in the long run. Naturally, I also don't want to have a hysterectomy and end up with complications and am really afraid of menopause. Any advise you might have would be greatly appreciated.
553516 tn?1255867219 I am unaware of legal right outside of the USA, You should as the patient have the right to request a hysterectomy after you have had a long and informed conversation with your doctor. I understand what its like living with severe pain daily that was ultimatley my decision for a hysterectomy plus my uterus was very enlarged,You may have a ovarian cyst.
Avatar n tn It does sound like it would be the best solution. I can see what the doctor means. If they leave the ovaries, at least you wouldn't experience surgical menopause, which can be a bit brutal. But you would say goodbye to your womb. How do you feel about that? It might be a good idea, for the sake of your general health. Fibroids naturally shrink after menopause, and often cause no more trouble, but with the kidney involvement, I would say it's best to have the surgery.
Avatar m tn I had a salpingo oopherectomy on both sides, a hysterectomy as well as a appendectomy on February 5th 2013. I am 27 years old. Since the procedure was done I have had severe lower abdominal pain while urinating. I have been very sick. Does anyone have an idea of what this pain is from?
Avatar f tn I have read where this does not always work and a hysterectomy may have to be done. Does anyone know what percent of women with this condition end up having to have a hysterectomy?
Avatar n tn How long ago was your hysterectomy? Are you taking any hormones?
Avatar f tn My OBGYN, who was insulted that I had the tummy tuck done at the same time as his hysterectomy, said it is not from the hysterectomy and that a Tummy Tuck can cause long term pain. Is this true, is there anything I can do?
686473 tn?1227017574 In regards to a hysterectomy, having HPV or dysplasia does not necessarily mean that a future hysterectomy will be likely. As I mentioned above, for most (90-95%) women a LEEP or cone biopsy can be completely curative, if there is a recurrence it can still be treated with another LEEP, cone biopsy or possibly laser or cyrotherapy, etc. - even with early stage cervical cancer (stage 1A, 1B) women can sometimes choose a trachelectomy over a hysterectomy.
