topamax

Avatar f tn Can anyone tell me are these normal symptoms when taking topamax and how long are they going to last? I am only taking 25mg a day right now.
1781720 tn?1314842836 I'm on 100mg of Topamax twice a day. And I am wondering what kind of long term effects this medications can have on someone? I'm only 19, and I take it for daily migraines. I know Benzodiazepine has a bad stomach side effect, and with Topamax, I was wondering if that would happen with taking this high of a dose.
Avatar f tn I'm back with another question :-). DS is 11.5 yo, recently diagnosed. He was put on topamax and imitrex for migraines which are supposedly unrelated and are what sent us to the neurologist in the first place. Migraines continue, some tingling in hands and feet, which is likely the topamax. However, today he had a migraine (been on topamax just over three weeks). Once it wore off I took him to school.
Avatar n tn Hello, Topamax can cause itching and erythematous rash in some individuals.Although the main side effects of topamax are slower reflexes, trouble thinking or concentrating, tiredness, poor coordination, and dizziness, yet it has shown itchy skin in some individuals. I feel that if you are showing any allergic reaction to topamax, pls stop taking it and consult your doctor for a change in prescription. You can take over the counter antihistaminic like benadryl or Claritin for itching.
Avatar f tn And if you are are you having similar time side effects? If you did how long did they take for them to go away? Or did they! Was you able to sleep? Was you able to lose any weight? I hope that if your taking Topamax it will work for you!! Any comments will be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks in advance!!!
Avatar f tn I am on topamax now and some side effects are hard to deal with. my dr is decreasing my dosage. my side effects are that my arms and legs are numb and tingling like pins and needles and I am very tired I have diahreea alot. you have to stay in contact with your doc while on the medication.
Avatar f tn m currently on my second attempt of topamax for about a year now (18-19 years old), was on Topamax previously before but had serious side effects which my doctor said would go away after long term use but i refused to take it and just took otc migraine med, now on my second attempt and my side effects are much more less, no weight loss though more like weight gain, i do still have speech stuttering, and forgetfulness which makes it hard to remember to take my topamax and still have migraines, i
Avatar f tn I am not in formal therpy at this time (I wish I was) as I can not afford it however I do go to Celebrate Recovery through my church every week. How long have you been on Topamax and how much were you perscribed? Also do you experience any of the same issues I have like being a little tired, reduced sex drive, thinning hair?
Avatar f tn That is a very low dose. Usually one takes 100mg, twice daily. It appears that he has you on the starter dose to work up to minimize side effects. My doctor had me work up about a week at a time - and I stopped working up as soon as I felt better. Everyone is different. For a long time, 25mg did work for me but as I recall, it takes a while to kick in.
Avatar f tn I know all the usual suspects and Topamax jokes (dopamax, tingling, word recall, etc) that you read on the brochure or hear about, but I wanted some personal feedback as far as how long the effects last and if they diminish. So far I haven't really had word recall issues and I've had some tingling but read that meant I needed to up my water intake and once I did that, the paresthesia (tingles) went away immediately. What I do feel is TIRED....
Avatar m tn My 18 year old daughter spent the last 4 months weening off Pristiq and now feel she really needs something for depression and anxiety. So my question, how long to start feeling the effects of Zoloft? She is starting at 50 mg for a week then moving up to 100mg. Any information would be helpful.. I realize everyone is different, but would like to know some experiences.
Avatar f tn I started low on 25mg and ended up on 2 x 50mg daily. The early side effects do go away. I had tingling in my hands and feet and I did still get some nasty headaches (no longer migraines) in the initial stages. The cognitive side effects also went away after a couple of months. After about 3 months on Topamax and getting to my maximum dose, I was getting minor headaches and virtually no side effects.
255722 tn?1452546541 Hi, I asked your question on-line and came up with following from a Topomax website: "Clinical studies found that TOPAMAX began reducing the frequency of migraines at 1 month and showed sustained improvement throughout the 6-month studies. To achieve best results, TOPAMAX should be taken for 2 to 3 months and then its effectiveness can be determined.
407790 tn?1397761026 My doctor just put me on Abilify, which I'm not very happy about considering the side effects. However, I have treatment-resistant depression so I'm running out of options. I will be taking a very low dose, though: 2.5 mg. Does anyone know if you're less likely to get side effects if you're on a low dose? Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.
Avatar n tn I have done some research and have found nothing good about this drug. She has all side effects. She is on day 1 with NO geodon.
1512520 tn?1290258130 I am convinced it is from the Topamax since I have been on strong cold meds from the doctor for 2 weeks, I am giving it another few days and may go down to 75 mgs by cutting one of my 50 mg pills in half...can't afford to go see my psychiatrist again to get his advice so I m really self medicating right now.
Avatar m tn Many people will choose to stay on medication that has side-effects if the side-effects are not worse than the migraine symptoms. This is a choice that only you and your doctor can make. You may find that the side-effects go away if you have been on the medication long enough too, so you might want to give it a bit longer to see if the side-effects go down a bit. Also, how much Topamax are you taking? The regular full dose after titration is 100mg.
Avatar m tn After much research it seems my only options are do nothing or surgery. My Neurologist has had me try topamax in the past but the side effects were horrifying. She now wants me to try Diamox. Any relief with this drug?? I am so afraid of taking any other drugs after the topamax. Side effects or any info would be much appreciated. I will meet with a NS next week to discuss the surgery. I fear the surgery will be too much for my family as I have 2 young children.
