How long do pristiq side effects last

Common Questions and Answers about How long do pristiq side effects last

pristiq

Avatar m tn My 18 year old daughter spent the last 4 months weening off Pristiq and now feel she really needs something for depression and anxiety. So my question, how long to start feeling the effects of Zoloft? She is starting at 50 mg for a week then moving up to 100mg. Any information would be helpful.. I realize everyone is different, but would like to know some experiences.
983155 tn?1248700406 I heard its rough to get off Paxil, are u under Drs care? I know u can't go cold turkey, thats for sure, its going to take a while, think of how long it took for it to work, so it could be a few more weeks, hang in there! What symptoms are u having?
Avatar f tn Well today is day 14 and I sure hope this med works bcus im sick of changing!!
407790 tn?1397761026 Thanks so much for the additional info! You're right, that's QUITE the cocktail of meds! How long have you been on that specific regimen? You're new to the Cymbalta (from the Pristiq) for about a month, correct? I personally think that adding the Abilify is a bit premature. You never know, you may see some significant improvements with the Cymbalta, but it's still kind of early to fairly assess your progress with it.
606378 tn?1297304964 I had a horrible experience with Pristiq. I would suggest that if you do decide to take it that you become aware of all the possible side effects and if you begin to have any side effects, contact your doctor right away. I took Pristiq for about 3 1/2 weeks. My doctor did not warn me of possible side effects and I didn't read about possible side effects early on. At first, I didn't notice anything unusual. I actually thought the drug might be helping a little.
Avatar f tn Many AD's have side effects that affect the libido, guess it applies to both sex es. As far as I know all AD's have this drastic effect . Hopefully you'll find one that's OK for you . Good luck.
Avatar n tn It sounds like you're still in withdrawal. How long it lasts is different for everyone. And while, yes, some people do suffer permanent effects, it is quite rare, and usually only occurs after being on a med for a long period of time, which it sounds like you've never done, so I wouldn't worry about it. You might try taking a good dose of fish oil every day; it might help with the symptoms you're having.
603543 tn?1255294450 I found taking Pristiq with a big glass of water in the morning before eating worked the best. Although almost 3 months in im going to the doctors to find out options of what i can change to. My biggest self esteem issue is my weight & in the 3 months ive been on Pristiq i have watched what i ate & even started working out 5-6 days a week & ive climbed another 6kgs. I dont need it! Otherwise Pristiq worked beautifully (as long as you dont forget to take it).
Avatar f tn All of these drugs come with many side effects -- some suffer more, some less, but all drugs have side effects. They are very powerful and alter the way the body functions naturally, so naturally they throw some things out of balance. How much depends on the person. General docs just don't know this stuff that well as they don't receive specialized training in it.
744415 tn?1243953376 t been on this new med long enough for your body to adjust and perhaps those particular side effects will vanish when you do. But this is something you need to discuss with your doctor. My concern that you didn't get a response sooner is that this drug is not being widely used for some reason. Usually if someone is on the same med, they will respond to your post. Let's hope they just haven't seen it yet. I'd also suggest talking to a pharmacist.
Avatar f tn Five years ago, I took Zoloft for anxiety for 6 months. I remember feeling good on it, but the initial side effects and sexual side effects were awful. So, my new doc recommended an SNRI instead. I also have POTS (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome). This basically means that my autonomic nervous system does not function properly and my heart rate accelerates when I stand or stand for long periods of time.
Avatar f tn If you're doing well on Effexor, I don't see any reason to switch. I've never been on Pristiq, but side effects when taking PRISTIQ 50 mg may include nausea, dizziness, sweating, constipation, and decreased appetite. In clinical studies of the recommended 50-mg dose, the percentage of people who stopped taking PRISTIQ due to side effects was similar to placebo (sugar pill).
Avatar f tn t the same as for another person. It could be really easy, could be difficult. Partly it depends on how long you've been on it and how well your body metabolized it. Just prepare to take it slow and easy, taper off and don't let docs rush you or pretend it's easy.
Avatar n tn Effexor makes it even worse. So the doctor changed me to Pristiq and said side effects will not be as bad as with Effexor. After taking it for 1 month I kept eating and gaining weight. And my menstrual cycle went crazy (one and a half months thinking I started an early menopause!). So I panicked and stopped Pristiq, but next day felt the horrible withdrawal effects (dizziness and nausea that kept me in bed). Next day I started taking 80 mg Prozac and withdrawal effects diminished.
Avatar m tn They just altered the structure some in order to get a new patent and hopefully to have fewer side effects, but over time that usually turns out not to be the case. I ask because if the effexor was working Pristiq is pretty similar, so why switch? If it stopped working, Pristiq might not work either as it's such a similar drug by the same manufacturer. Perhaps it was to reduce side effects?
Avatar m tn d start at a low dosage and work my way up on any medication so I could see how bad the side effects were and the lowest dosage at which it works is. I'd also taper slowly off the drug I'm on before starting a new one, especially one of a different class, so I could tell what effects were withdrawal off the old med and which were side effects of the new med.
3215224 tn?1345829226 I am not sure if thats giving me some side effects. I am at my witts end and do not no what to do next, Been out of work for 2 days need to go back tomorrow and do not have ay will power. if have to tho. I have no health ins.
Avatar f tn I am not in formal therpy at this time (I wish I was) as I can not afford it however I do go to Celebrate Recovery through my church every week. How long have you been on Topamax and how much were you perscribed? Also do you experience any of the same issues I have like being a little tired, reduced sex drive, thinning hair?
