When you do go off the Effexor, do a very long, slow taper. Mine was way too fast and I have really suffered. I did the percocet withdrawal first as well but the Effexor made the percocet withdrawals look like a piece of cake.

I was wondering if you were able to stop taking the effexor successfully, & how long did the withdrawal symtoms last? Anybody else reading this please let us all know how you are doing once you are off.

Hi there! Well, I've been on Effexor for over ten years. Started at a very low dose and I am at 150 mg for a long time now. So, I can't say if I remember all the side effects I had. But I will say that I definitely got sick to my stomach if I didn't eat immediately before taking it. This went away after a week or so as my body adjusted to the medication. I believe that the jitters and anxious feeling is all part of your anxiety.

Cancer removed May 22, 2007, chemo July 2nd through October 8, 2007, and radiation on left breast November 2nd through December 26, 2008. Shortly after I started the drug, I started having hot flashes and bad leg cramps. My doctor then prescribed Effexor for those side effects. I started at 37.5 mg and worked up to 75mg which I took for 5 years. A month ago he changed my prescription to 37.5 mg and said to stop once the medicine ran out. I took my last pill 3 days ago. I feel horrible. I have nausea, dizziness, a swoshing feeling when I turn my head from side to side and just feel bad overall. I have been cranky and moody.

Hi All, Ive been on Effexor XR for 5 weeks now (75mg) day and ive had constant dizzyness/dull ache between my eyes the whole time. Should these side effects last this long and should i expect them to go away soon??? Thanks.

As far as the Effexor side effects go, the first week or two it really mellows you out and yes, you do sleep a little more, at least it affected me that way. I am now on 75 milgrams and after a couple of weeks you settle into your old routine. Effexor has worked great for me, especially with the racing thoughts and anxiety.

I've asked her how to wean off the Effexor XR, she will not give me a straight answer. I've even tried one pill every other day and still have the same problem and I'm ok with that if I knew when to stop totally or how long the side effects would last. I'm thinking I need a new Doctor. m experiencing brain wobbles, fuzzy sounds in my ears,find it hard to sleep, and yesterday uncontrollable crying for no reason, feelings of utter rage, and suicidal thoughts. Sweating and constantly being hot are a side-effect of Effexor. I weened off Effexor and am now just on Tamoxifen. I have the occassional hot flash, but it's quite a bit better than when I first started Tamoxifen and Effexor. The mood swings are coming back now almost a year after ending Effexor, but I'm learning to handle that myself instead of with drugs.

It's been long enough since you last told me you increased the dosage. I think you should call your doc. This dosage increase just doesn't seem to be working. I wish you would take my advice and dump the Effexor for Protriptilyne. I am so sure it will work better for you. It doesn't have that sedating effect that Effexor has because it doesn't effect Serotonin.

I have never had sweating with Effexor, in fact I have no side effects at all. It seems everyone is different and have different nside effects to drugs. I have taken other anti depressants with horrible side effects, but Effexor really suits me.

Hi i am trying to find out if any1 else who takes effexor has had as many side effects as i have, which is basically them all including seizures and blackouts? I was on 375mg put due to the risk of another seizure have dropped down to 300mg. Has anyone else experienced as many side effects and do you think its worth all the side effects to be be ?( stable for now neway) .The doctors seem to think its worth it but then they dont have a load of side effects to deal with.

I was on lexapro for 2 months, for general anxiety and depression then started takin effexor for sexual side effect reasons..The effexor did not cure any of my sexual side effects. My doctor then advised me to stop taking the effexor for a week to see if the sexual side effects got any better which they did. i had similar side effects when coming off the depo shot. I thought i was pregnant and took 3 tests. they went away but it took about 6mo. My docs checked my hormones and pituitary gland and they we all fine. It's probably not the effexor but ck w/ your doc anyway.

Now I am just on the wellbutrin and I am fine, no side-effects at all. Also, the effexor withdrawal symptoms did have nausea, headache, vertigo... as well as other symptoms too for me, so it sounds like it could be effexor withdrawal for you too maybe.
