neupogen

782258 tn?1237510986 is Epogen similar to Procrit, am i right on that? actually i think Epogen owns Neupogen to boost neutrophils WBCs. or do they own both Neupogen and Procrit? well i'm currently on Procrit (and Neupogen) and it basically helps boost RBC growth, i take it weekly, mostly to help with hemolytic anemia caused by the Interferon and Riba for treatment.
Avatar f tn Hi all. My RBC dropped into the 8 range and my Procrit is in the mail. Have any of you who have taken it had any sx? I know it will help me have more energy, but anyone experience other things? Thanks for your honesty.
Avatar n tn The medication he is on is Epogen 40,000, Neupogen singleject 480 mg and also ribavirin. That is all I know of. Can someone please just help me to understand what these medicines are supposed to do for him. I feel so lost in all of this and have no where else to go for some understanding? Thank you.
1840891 tn?1431547793 Ceanothus: I know how frustrating it is to hover above the intervention threshold -- that happened to me in 2009. If you send me your hemoglobin data (all test dates and all test results), I will model it for you. That will give us a better picture of how your hgb has been reacting during treatment and how it is trending. During my current round of treatment, I was very proactive and as soon as I started treatment I told my doctor I wanted epoetin alfa (Procrit/Epogen) when first eligible.
Avatar f tn Jan are you getting neulesta neupogen, or Epogen and or procrit... big difference.. as you know one is for white blood cells..( neulesta neupogen) and the other that is for red blood cells.. Epogen and or procrrit... My oncologist gives me neupogen for white blood cells but would not touch the other at all.. She believes that is causes more problems than it is worth including faster tumor growth...
1385752 tn?1283950523 Brand Names: Epogen, Procrit Generic Name: epoetin alfa Different name but same stuff . I think it also is called erithropoetin or something like that, but I don't remember how it is spelled. Someone posted the website where all the Lot #'s are listed on the other post about this. All my husbands left overs were on the list.
Avatar m tn My new Dr. is suggesting new treatment with boc. or whatever and suggested a lower dose of riba plus possible bone marrow stims weekly-biweekly to keep anemia in check. Anybody heard of doing this?
264121 tn?1313029456 s addressed this yet but I noticed that procrit, or at least - when I received my 20,000 unit bottles of epogen yesterday this was true - has a new multidose vial. This would have been all kinds of helpful to me when I was treating. I did some kind of dodgey things back then, like using non multi-dose vials more than once and/or storing epogen in an extra needle if I wanted to divide the bottle in half. Short of getting two different strengths of epo at the time, it was my only alternative.
Avatar f tn Neupogen stimulates white blood cell production and Procrit or Epogen boosts red blood cells = increased hemoglobin in hemolytic anemia which is the anemia induced by ribavirin, primarily. Ribavirin prematurely destroys RBCs and that's why we can become anemic. Neupogen won't help that problem but Procrit or Epogen will.
1995824 tn?1330379049 Hi Susan: Bummer about feeling so exhausted today. Staying hydrated may help you feel a little better. I agree with Bean. I have never heard that riba can't be increased after a decrease. Don't know what a transfusion costs, but Procrit/Epogen is probably a least costly alternative. Plus, I read the Hgb threshold for a transfusion is ~7 while the Hgb threshold for Procrit/Epogen intervention is ~10.
179856 tn?1333547362 She told me BCBS would not approve the procrit because of the recall????? That is how I found out!!!! And I had just taken a shot from a batch that was on the recall list!!! I'm angry and concerned. Maybe just 2 transfusions will get me through the rest of treatment....always something!!!
2004810 tn?1365153611 ve taken both Procrit and Epogen. Both Procrit and Epogen are Erythropoiesis-Stimulating Agents (ESAs). Apparently, for whatever reason, you body is already producing way too much ESA (many times more than the normal range). So, assuming your EPO test results are accurate, the typical Procrit & Epogen rescue drugs do not sound like a solution for you. Procrit & Epogen are very powerful drugs that can cause blood clots (and much worse). Check out http://www.epogen.
264121 tn?1313029456 Then again, I still have to have weekly blood tests done for my epogen based anemia, so maybe the smarter but more annoying thing to do would just be to leave it in...
Avatar f tn Thanks, you are absolutely right, I do mean red cells Really helpful - do you know if people have to fight to get it prescribed?
Avatar f tn Virtually all patients will eventually require supplemental iron to increase or maintain transferrin saturation to levels which will adequately support erythropoiesis stimulated by EPOGEN®. All surgery patients being treated with EPOGEN® should receive adequate iron supplementation throughout the course of therapy in order to support erythropoiesis and avoid depletion of iron stores https://www.clevelandclinic.org/myeloma/Procrit_phaseII_less_frequent.htm "...
Avatar f tn I guess he is not drinking enough H2O. He is on antibiotics, Hi-Vite drops, Epogen injections, k/d food and fluid IV. I pray to God that it helps him and he gets better. I am sorry, I guess I don't have anyone to share this with so I just keep going and going. Thank you for listening. Sometimes that is the best help anyone could give ; ) I will look into "Ask a Veterinarian" questions to see if they have any more suggestions in helping Punchie. Thank you for your help.
Avatar f tn Bone marrow biopsy involves getting a sample of the bone marrow using a large bore needle that is inserted into the hip bone. The needle is still small enough such that it will not have an effect on the structural integrity and strength of the hip bone, even if your mother has osteoporosis. The subsequent treatment will depend on what the bone marrow biopsy results will be. Not all conditions which present with anemia can be treated with blood products or Epogen.
956931 tn?1271636169 Hi Jaz, I'm guessing the answer to your question is yes, they check VL q 2 wks because of the study, which is how often I go check in. I am really excited about the progress I'm seeing on paper, it is so encouraging. I was put into the Epo arm today. Gee was randomized into the dose reduction arm of this particular study, so we are both pioneers and all that we are going through now will not only benefit us, but will help others in the future too.
Avatar f tn s just a guess. BTW are you taking a week 10 test and when? My guess is you will be UND by week 10 given your numbers.
Avatar f tn While many doctors wait until low HGB levels (less than 10), most doctors who treat HCV that know what their doing realize that the rate of decrease is more important than the actual level. This is primarily because of the lead time required to administer Epogen Alpha as rescue med to stave of severe anemia. Those who aren't as knowledgable may balk because of FDA warnings a few years ago about increased risk for cardio problems associated with Epogen Alpha usage.
Avatar f tn My husband had to get a transfusion last week He is in his 31st week of pegasys/copegus treatment and my question is Is this common to transfuse? that is how he got Hep C in the first place but that was 30 years ago.Anybody else had this problem?
Avatar m tn A main purpose of using Procrit or Epogen is to avoid a blood transfusion. It sounds like the Procrit is doing that for you (although that may be little consolation if you still feel really anemic). You are welcome to look at my Epogen tracking table that I posted as a photo on my profile for a data point on the effect Epogen/Procrit had on someone else.
1385752 tn?1283950523 Ah Bowyer that is such a sad thing - time for the epogen, really if only you had been started on it a few weeks ago you would have already been over ten again. But maybe your body just knew something your mind didn't and it just wanted you to sit this one out, using all the energy required might have done something to make your treatment in danger...who knows it still must sting.
