UMM I am in shock I have never heard of using morphine for ultram withdrawl. How long and how much does he have you on it for . I am hoping a very short time.
here is alittle info on it MORPHINE (MS Contin®, Oramorph®, Kadian®) relieves moderate to severe pain. Morphine may also be used to treat pain associated with cancer, heart attacks, sickle cell disease and other medical conditions. This type of morphine is for people who need pain medicine for more than a few days.
So I went in for my appointment today and it felt really good to have all my questions and concerns written down so I didn't forget any of my questions. He ended up prescribing me zanaflex for my muscle pain (was on robaxin, but it didn't work well) and Ultram ER for daily pain. I know a lot of other people on here take Ultram, but I have never taken it, so it should be interesting to see if it helps me.
But, I checked with our nurse and she asked how your are trying to d-tox from it? Tramadol and Ultram are the same drugs. They also have Ultram ER which is the extended released. It is a controlled substance. A lot of PM docs use this for patients to take all day long, every day. My employer and doc tried to put me on Ultram ER and I refused to take it. i recently started taking ultram after seeing my doctor and asking for a non-narcotic pain reliever. i have had serious problems with norco and lortab in the past. i recently started going to aa and have quit drinking and smoking, so naturally even though i have serious back pain i wanted OFF THE DRUGS. well, i switched from norco to ultram and when i ran out, i have started withdrawal REALLY bad. this is worse than i have ever experienced with the previous "narcotic" drugs.
Ultram (Tramadol) is going to do nothing but prolong your withdrawals. Tramadol, whether it's in Ultram, Ultracet, or Ultram ER, is a nasty drug to detox from. It has properties that make it almost like a benzo and an opiate combined into one little nasty pill. There's things to take that are not addictive that can help with withdrawal symptoms such as clonidine (Catapres) and hydroxyzine (Vistaril, Atarax). Please, steer clear of the Ultram.
My dr. just gave me a sample of Ultram ER, 200 mg. I took one 2 hours ago, and STILL feel nausaus, dizzy, creepy...and still in pain. I'll take the back pain any day of the week than to ever feel like this again. What a horrible, nasty drug. He wanted to give me the vicodin again, and I said no thanks...tapered off of that twice and never want to go thru that again either. I'll stick to the tylenol, ice, and that's it.
NOW, THERE IS A PILL CALLED ULTRAM ER ,,,,, IT IS LIKE OXY BECAUSE IT HAS THAT TIME RELEASED COATING OVER IT. COULD SOMEONE TAKE OFF THE COATING (LIKE THEY DO WITH OXY), CRUSH IT UP AND SNORT IT AND GET HIGH?
I ASK BECAUSE IT IS MY UNDERSTANDING THAT THOSE TWO PILLS DONT HAVE OPIATES IN THEM SO COULD U GET HIGH?

Soon as went to the rheumetologist I was taken off the hydrocodone and put on 300 mg of ultram er. I started getting cold sweats and shakes and was clueless to what was going on cause I was never addicted to anything before. Of course it all happened at night so I went to the er and they, the doctors, were also clueless. I finally got to see my regular gp and he figured out I was in withdrawal.
I have heard that the reason Ultram can make you feel depressed is that it has a calming effect like Xanax does. I was told by my doctor that Ultram has a depressive side effect in some people. You might want to call your doctor and let them know that the Ultram is being counterproductive. Is the Ultram for pain? If so, can you take something else like Ibuprofen or something like that? I can only tell you what u were told here was probably correct I was told the same about ultram. The er told me I should be on it, then finally on my fourth day cold turkey I saw my family doc. Ultram was a definite NO. I was coming of oxy n was put on Xanax for day and Valium at night. This is only a ten day regiment. I hope that helped. Good luck.
What's the difference between Ultram ER and Tramadol? I've been taking/abusing Ultram ER 200mg. To get off these things my Dr switched me to Tramadol 50mg. 1-2 4 times daily w/2 extra strength Tylenol. I'm feeling lethargic. I slept fine but I'm just tired and I'm jumpy.
For those who have not read my journal this all started after being struck by lighting in June. I'm assuming what I'm felling is a difference between Ultram and Tramadol.
The problem I have is that before when I was taking 100 mg Ultram ER twice a day with the methadone as listed above my pain was controled, but since I have tried going down on it I have pain all the time again. I was wondering if there was any other long acting medication out there that works simular to the Ultram ER?
He was horrified had mo clue this drug was so toxic On a small taper w Xanax to keep bp down I know one drug for another but it just makes me sleepy not speedy like ultram with the er dr and my pcp I was getting the best of both worlds pain control from herniated disks and happiness that the ultram gives u I was at a point that 30 a day was making me lethargic and wasn't doing whatbit used to I have had a history of depression some shrinks said bipolar I was self medicating with this crap in
