Avatar m tn I recently got blood work done. I had been complaining of fatigue, brain fog, and most notably, hair thinning and shedding. Free T4: 1.16 (ng/dl) T 3 Total: 1.25 (ng/dl) TSH: 4.92(miu/ml) Free testosterone: 13.5(pg/ml) Testosterone Total : 283(ng/dl) range (249-836) My doctor noted mildly elevated levels of TSH and so prescribed synthroid 25mcg daily and to recheck levels in 3 months.
Avatar m tn Everyday we had intercourse and today she got her period. God it feels like a failure. I want to know how long does it usually take a year seems to long to wait. We got pregnant twice with out trying to and now what is happening?
Avatar f tn I have edema, tachycardia, orthostasis, chronic nausea, chronic fatigue, new/developing food allergies, low TSH, high free testosterone, low overall free percentage of testosterone, yellowing of the joints and inner thigh, joint pain, muscle aches, overall aching feeling, stomach distention, loss of appetite, gastroparesis, and previously gastric emptying. What do I have?
Avatar f tn Libido in both men and women is related closely to the level of testosterone in the blood (yes women have testosterone produced largely by the adrenal glands and men have so-called female hormones in their system). Testosterone level in the blood can be increased by a number of medications (androgel applied to the skin of the stomach, shots in the buttocks, etc.) all of which require a doctor's prescription.
Avatar n tn The funny part is that I had to end my career first in 2003 before this other urologist placed me on testosterone replacement therapy. My wife and children remarked on how much stress was relieved and how my moods had improved. Even with testosterone effecting moods we as patients still have a choice as to how we deal with things.
Avatar m tn Hi, How are you? Testosterone has been used for many decades for the treatment of testosterone deficient males.Today options for treatment include topical testosterone gels and creams, short and long acting injections of testosterone esters, application of testosterone through skin patches, subcutaneous testosterone implants, and oral testosterone capsules. The injection is given deep intra-muscular and is quite often painful.
5033762 tn?1370785022 ve had 4 doctors tell me that this will work. as long as it does not dry up or sit out too long it does not die.
Avatar m tn I went through puberty with more estrogen than testosterone. I am on testosterone injection but it does not solve my ED issue. I am thinking of injections as Viagra does not work any more..
Avatar m tn To get a second opinion i have consulted a second physician to get the blood work done for the second time. Below are results for the second time. How do you interpret my results. TSH 8.340 uIU/mL 0.450 - 4.500 uIU/mL T4 free 1.22 ng/dL 0.82 - 1.77 ng/dL T3 Total 97 ng/dL 83 - 200 ng/dL FSH,SERUM 3.5 mIU/mL 1.5 - 12.4 mIU/mL LH,SERUM 2.8 mIU/mL 1.7 - 8.
Avatar m tn If so, how long does it take for natural testosterone levels to pick up to normal? Cuz I feel really tired after withdrawing from oxys. Thanks alot Doctor! Specialist!
Avatar m tn I took it for several months as my blood work showed low testosterone. There was no effect whatsoever on my fatigue, sex life or oven follow up test values. I personally think the whole testosterone treatment is a scam. Nobody tested me for free and albumin bound testosterone, the biologically active forms. Total testosterone is useless. This is like measuring total cholesterol without the HDL and LDL fractions. The primary practice docs are totally clueless.
Avatar m tn Re: Thank for your comment earlier. I appreciate it. question about penis enlargement. I heard that testosterone will increase penis size. Im embarrass to say it but my penis is only 6 in when erect. And my ex-girlfriend made repeated comments about how her other boyfriends were bigger and how she liked "big cocks." I feel like I should do something to increase my size. Im kind of ashamed and upset by this.
950277 tn?1247274551 I used to work with a guy that would get testosterone shots quite frequentely. I knew he was buying them on the streets. Don't worry, I am smarter then that. He just seemed to have such great energy. He accredited it to the drug. However, He gained loads of weight and looked like a ball!
Avatar f tn I was then diagnosed with PCOS in January... I was having severe acne, and hair loss. My testosterone levels were high, coming in at 73. That is when they put me on all of this medication. Has anyone else had the provera not work? I'm scared that I have no other options, as I was looking forward to taking the Letrozole the Dr. had prescribed...Here I thought I was starting a new journey, something that would work! Anyone help??? Confused.
Avatar m tn It is quite common for testosterone to be temporarily low when thyroid hormones are low. Besides what testosterone obviously does for the male body, low levels can also contribute to muscle pain. There are two common tests to measure testosterone from blood draw, its kind of similar to thyroid testing. These are Free Testosterone (bio-available), Total Testosterone.
Avatar f tn The free and the testosterone attached to albumin are available to work in your system. The rest is testosterone bound to a sex hormone binding globulin (SHBG) and is bound so tight it doesn't do anything. For some men, this amount is 40 to 70% of testosterone. So, first you to the Total T to see those numbers. And then you do the Free T to see what testosterone is actually available in your system to work. Hope that helps.
Avatar n tn On top of this, it is very hard for me to gain muscle mass. My chest has never been muscular and well defined no matter how long I work out. If I do not work out at all, I appear to have very small "man boobs" despite being a skinny guy. My shoulders are very narrow and at 32, I still have very little to no chest hair. My legs and feet are very hairy however; just no hair on chest. I have always been a very moody guy and emotional.
Avatar m tn how long were you in therapy before you found "it didn't work"? We have to give these things time. Everything with anxiety is a bit of work, nothing happens overnight for us. Also, I agree with nursegirl that you should definantly talk to a psychiatrist about beta blockers and other meds, not just your md.
Avatar n tn thanks Gimel to inpart a bit of sanity. I too have gone to peakTestosterone site and they have a very active forum with some very knowledgable members, as well as real Dr's who specialize in hormones, specifically mens hormones but also do women as well who chime in from time to time. First off while I agree most Dr's are not taught properly in med school about thyroid and other hormones, there is no reason to throw EVERY doctor under the bus.
Avatar m tn ve read that they do have a little, the same way women have some testosterone. If you want to try estrogen, after giving the testosterone a trial and if you find it does nothing, call the same doc who prescribed the testosterone and tell him that it's not doing anything, and ask about getting an estrogen prescription.
8309591 tn?1397596954 I hope doctors know how reference ranges work... even if it was 11 I still would think is low. After all I am not a 75 years old man with type II diabetes!! When I look online for my age range I always see that it should always be above 650 and that is even considered on the "lower" end. When I look on site form my home country (Italy) they suggest a normal healthy range for adult males of 5-12 ng/ml and mine is 2.89ng/ml (288ng/dl).
Avatar f tn They are suppose to strip my membranes how does that work? Does it hurt.
