How does flomax work

Common Questions and Answers about How does flomax work

flomax

Avatar m tn Flomax can reduce the amouht of seman that you produce. It would be unusual though to have this production reduced down to zero unless the man was ejaculating very often. In general terms Flomax is a useful medication with very few side-effects..
Avatar f tn In other words, if nodule were benign would the Flomax be likely to work better? Does progressive increase in frequency indicate a higher chance of cancer?
Avatar m tn i can get an erection but have difficulty in ejaculation. Been taking Flomax for one year. Never had problem before. How long does it take, if you quit taking flomax, to return to normal. 70 year old.
1580703 tn?1651904887 the pain was through the whole pelvis and also individual veins or spermatic cord. does Flomax permanently shrink your prostate or reduce testosterone levels? I read one forum where people where saying they had a permanent loss of strength, could not throw the discus as far? I'm still not cured of the pelvic pain on Flomax+cipro after a few days it is labeled as relaxing the bladder neck and prostate muscles but it has these strength loss problems.
Avatar m tn I hear ya... I've been on .4 Flomax since January and its hard to get off of it. It basically tells the bladder neck muscles = "ok we are going to do your job now, take a break"... so to speak.. but when you stop it seems neither the muscles or the drug obviously are doing the job and they tighten back up and I get he urine retention again... Its very frustrating because I was doing exceptionally well before trying to stop.
Avatar n tn But as someone who has suffered with this and had surgery for it, flomax does not stop the prostate from continuing to get larger, so again, it's time to go back to your urologist and get an ultrasound. Peace.
Avatar m tn i am having tachycardia, chestpain after using flomax - only second pill how long can take the side effects considering that i stopped taking flowmax 36 hours
Avatar n tn He takes 5 mg blood pressure med and he takes Flomax daily. When he first started taking Flomax; which he needs to be able to urinate or as he says to keep his plumbing working, anyway, he would have dizzy spells. His doctor said this was normal, a side effect of Flomax. But now lately he has been passing out; I think that is unusual for any medication and I'm worried there may be something else going on.
Avatar f tn Thanks for your response. How does Flomax help you? Are you able to fully empty your bladder now?
Avatar m tn The Flomax was not working very well, initially and my MD switched me to Jalyn, mostly because of the CombaT Study which looked at combination regimens for BPH. The Jalyn (Flomax & Avodart) does a GREAT job and I am pretty much symptom free. My thought was that switching to Avodart alone would leave me with one less drug going into my system, keep my good results, and, hopefully reduce the IFIS risk.
Avatar n tn , where normal for him means slow urination due to long standing BHP, but not as slow, painful, and dribbling as with Flomax. We are just guessing that the way Flomax works by relaxing muscles is causing these effects. (Could the enlarged prostate end up pressing even more on muscles?? I realize these are just guesses: I have looked at a lot of medical sites, but this does not look like to be listed as a side effect!
233622 tn?1279334905 Hi LA I don't know anything about Flomax but I'm glad to hear it is going well with the Betaseron. I have been using it since August last year and have no regrets.
Avatar n tn //www.kidneystoners.org/information/severe-pain-after-stent-removal-how-often-does-it-happen-and-can-anything-prevent-it/ It's the same pain as when a kidney stone gets caught and the ureter starts to spasm. After the stent is removed inflammation and blood clots can do the same thing. It's the kind of pain that sends people to the ER screaming. Renal Colic. If your on flomax it maybe kept the stone moving and you never experienced that kind of pain.
Avatar f tn And, if so, has anyone had the same experiences that I previously explained? Finally, does the body seem to adapt to Flomax, and return to semen production (without abdominal pain after orgasm)? I apoogize if my language seems quite blunt, but I'm extremely concerned (especially the abdominal pain after, even though short-lived). I will be presenting the same questions to my neurologist the next time I see him, but that won't be for 6 weeks. I will appreciate any and all responses.
Avatar m tn My question is why the amount of ejaculate that I have is so small, and how do I fix that? When I ejaculate, it is only a few drops, maybe only a third of a teaspoon. Everything else feels the same and functions the same, but the amount is very small. I used to be able to fill up a tabespoon almost. Is there something out there (that is not a scam!) that can actually increase your volume?
Avatar m tn Had radiation for prostate cancer which worked. PSA virtually undetectable. Does Flomax interfere with Viagra?
Avatar n tn It is far too early to get discouraged. Flomax does not slow the healing of the eye. In some men on flowmax it causes "floppy iris syndrome" where the pupil will not stay dilated and makes it much more difficult for the surgery to be done.
Avatar n tn I have been experiencing retrograde ejaculation from taking Flomax and Uroxatral for several years. Will normal ejaculation return if I stop the medication? How long will it take?
Avatar n tn I'm a male, 26 years old. For the past two weeks it's been a nightmare. All day long it feels like I have to go pee. When I do, I'm relieved for about 5 minutes, then the feeling comes back. You know when you have to pee really bad, and it almost hurts, that's how I've been feeling. I've been to the doctor, they took a urinalysis, and nothing showed up. So the next thing they did, was check my prostate. They said it was enlarged. So the diagnosis was prostatitis.
Avatar m tn I'm 68 years old and have had Cataracts for over 2 years. I've been taking Avodart for over a year. Should I stop taking Avodart and wait awhile before cataract surgery or will the informed Dr be able to work with my eyes? I've never taken Flomax and have heard the warnings from the commercial and read about Flomax. I'm concerned about any complications. I'm also pretty active. Can I still swim after surgery and what are the chances of the lens shifting or coming loose?
Avatar m tn I did not associate it with flomax until recently. Is it harmful if I stop taking the flomax and is this the cause of my retro? This discussion is related to Retrograde Ejaculation from Flomax......permanent or not?.
187666 tn?1331173345 Quick question for anyone who's been through this: how long does it take once a stone passes for the blood in the urine to stop? Long story short: have had obvious blood in urine for just over a year now, tests revealed nothing till a month or two ago. Found a stone lodged in right kidney. Last Tues. night ended up in ER. Seems like stone finally decided to migrate south into the ureter but not out into the bladder yet. Not sure if I'll know when it passes.
Avatar m tn light headness after cataract surgery and Dr was told about Flomax of which I am still on 2 years later
Avatar m tn Flomax can cause "floppy iris syndrome" (FIS). A small percentage of people on Flomax and a much much smaller % of people that were on Flomax in the past but not on it now have FIS. FIS can make surgery, usually cataract, more difficult as the pupil does not stay dilated. However FIS is now widely recognized and special techniques have been devised to deal with the floppy, contracting iris.
