How does femara work

Common Questions and Answers about How does femara work

femara

Avatar f tn Hi! I'll be taking femara 2.5 CD3-7 next week for superovulation. Has anyone had success with femara? I'm not counting on it to work after just 1 cycle, but I'm really hoping it will! Does anyone who has taken femara have any advice? Did you ovulate later than usual???? Any info you can give is appreciated!!!!!
Avatar f tn A question for you Femara ladies - did you notice any changes in when you ovulated while on Femara? I am starting my first Femara cycle in two days (I am CD1 today, doing Femara CD3-7) and just wondering what to expect. I usually ovulate CD17-19. Does Femara make you O earlier, later, about the same? Thanks for any insight!
Avatar f tn My RE does 4-6 rounds of IUI, then 4-6 rounds of IUI with injectables and then moves on to IVF. I got pregnant on my 4th IUI with Femara and Trigger. Good luck!
398038 tn?1247857003 Femara has a very short half life and therefore does not lead to a thin lining. Femara DOES cause birth defects if you take it when you are ALREADY pregnant. If you are NOT already pregnant when you take femara it does not cause any more birth defects than clomid or general infertility. So if you take it on days 3-7, it is gone by the time implantation occurs (due to it's very short half life) and theoretically it cannot cause birth defects because it is not even around anymore.
391060 tn?1204749484 He did a cycle of Clomid with me and I did not respond so he is moving me to Femara he said that He will do 3 cycles of the Femara with me with Ultrasounds regularly and if it does not work then he will send me back to the RE and request I go straight IVF because nothing else has worked
Avatar f tn I was wondering what the medical explanation was for why fertility drugs cause cysts? If you do get a cysts at the end of a cycle, does that mean you never had a chance of getting pg from that cycle? Is there anything a person can do to prevent the cysts? I did several cycles of Clomid with no cysts; then one cycle of Femara that produced 2 cysts. Now I'm ending another cycle of Femara and believe that I have cysts again.
318181 tn?1336443496 For those of you who have tried Femara, what were your experiences? Did it delay O, like clomid can? Any side effects? How well did it work for you?
Avatar f tn I will be relaxed if I get some encouragement from you. Is there anyone who has success of Femara and Ovidrel in the first cycle or how many cycles does it usually require? Please help. Baby dust to all again!!!
413852 tn?1317308712 Your OBGYN is right. Mine also had me use Femara for 4 cycles to try to increase our chances since I am in the dreaded "unexplained" category. It worked great for me, I O'd consistently, and had minimal side effects (just headaches and hot flashes here and there). We didn't end up with our BFP, but I have seen a lot of women who have with the Femara. Here are two information packets on it.
257175 tn?1204161973 I think Femara. My dr. has accidentally called it in for me twice now, although I take Clomid. I think he uses both so often for ovulation they are interchangeable. I read lots of women here take it also.
Avatar f tn i am on it now for the first time, IUI this coming weekend, so fingers crossed.
Avatar f tn I can usually feel my ovary (have one left) getting bigger and twinging before O time and then all over pelvic pains after O... GOOD LUCK! i hope that it does the trick! femara is a great choice for endo patients!
Avatar n tn i just started reading up on femara and i'm hoping that it will work for me being the clomid did't and i tried 50mg, 100mg, and 150mg of clomid and is sick of it.
Avatar f tn That does sound unusual. Are you sure she didn't say take all ten pills, STARTING on cd 3? Meaning, you'd be done by cd 13? I'd call and ask for clarification. I'm on Clomid, not Femara, but I'm under the impression they work similarly, and Clomid is spaced out one pill each day for a certain number of days.
255732 tn?1318517822 Hi! Yes, letrozole is the same as femara, and it does work alone. I used it alone for three cycles, and I had two mature follicles each time. As for moving straight to IVF after femara, I'm not sure why he wouldn't suggest injectable/IUI first...but you could always bring that back up if you don't get pregnant over the next three/four cycles. Best of luck to you!
4548024 tn?1590005019 I only ever tried clomid when I was doing iui's. I never tried Femara but I've heard of many women who have but don't ever recall them becoming pregnant. I have since moved onto IVF for many reasons. I have what's considered a difficult case. I hope it works for you and gets you a BFP!!
418703 tn?1308825220 I'm in the same boat as you. I just started the Clomid this month and took the last pill on Wednesday morning. So I am just waiting to ovulate. I was told to start doing OPK's on day 10 and just wait and see. I am currently on 500 mg metformin 3 times days and 50 mg Clomid. Hope it works right away!!!
1235159 tn?1323009319 I did find that the side effects of Femara were far less severe than the Clomid and, unlike Clomid, Femara does not affect your CM or thin out your uterine lining.
