Hello. Thank you for all of your work and public service. I have a couple of questions I apologiize if they've been answered before.
I work in healthcare ad recently was touching a patients lower back/sacrum without barrier protection. After contact she told me she was experiencing what felt like herpes prodrome in the area I had touched. In subsequent follow ups, no outbreak occured innpatient. My concern is contracting herpetic whitlow.

That night I went I the shower. I had a huge rash covering my whole stomach , above my groin and the inside of my thigh . It was very noticeable and pronounced . The next day it was gone. But the little but on my inner thigh was still there.

typically the skin on our hands is too thick for the virus to infect. if you bite your finger nails/cuticles or have open wounds on your hands, you should never be touching patients without gloves on.
since you never had obvious lesions and started famvir, too late for any accurate herpes diagnosis.
If you read my past posts you will see I have had quite a roller coaster ride with my recent HSV status. My blood work had conflicting results since my exposure back in June. I had several negative results then a positive herpesselect IGG for HSV1 at 15 weeks post exposure (3.6 value). At Nurse Warren’s suggestion I had a Western blot at 16 weeks which was negative. A follow-up western blot at 8 months came back as indeterminate.
Two weeks ago I had a sore on my lip.
When I started prophylactic treatment with acyclovir, I saw a reduced occurrence for a few months, then they came back to about 4-5 outbreaks/year. I recently switched prophylactic medication from acyclovir to famciclovir, and had a 18-month period free from outbreak. Come yesterday, I had another terrible outbreak (worse than usual)... will these become more commonplace now? Is this a sign of HSV-resistance to the drug? Are there any other courses of action I can consider?
One week prior to taking my hiv test i took Famciclovir for shingles would this interfeer with the results?
Sex was great the first couple years by know it is does not exist. I lack the desire I had before, I am on a lot of medications also Xanax, Ambient CR, Clexa, zyxal, Levothyroxine, Dicyclomine, famciclovir, Tizanidine, Fentinal, and a few others because of health issues. It is horrible to feel like you have no drive to have sex, I would like to sexualy active instead of nothing. Is there anything I can do to change the way I feel?
Just 1 week before sexual exposure, I had finished taking Famciclovir 250mg for HSV-1 outbreak. And it cured.
After 123 days(4 months) from last risky sexual exposure and 130 days from FAMCICLOVIR completion, I took HSV2(IGM and IGG) test and it turned out negative. I did not got any symptoms on genital area.
Can I consider this as confirmatory for HSV-2 in my body?
Should I need to go for more test? if so when to take the test? It is 4 months now completed from risk.
PHN is very tricky to deal with. We can't advise you on stopping your amyltriptline treatment - you should work with a neurologist on this if you aren't already.
PHN from hsv2 is rare, and not a lot of research has been done on this (I'm sorry - that's not good news, is it?). I would suggest you keep taking the valtrex so you (hopefully) don't get any more outbreaks, or maybe switch to acyclovir to see if that makes a difference?

I have been experiencing severe vaginal itching with the past 3 weeks. It started off with a few sores just above the pubic hair area. Then vulva/vagina became all red and inflamed. I thought it was yeast infection and self medicated. However it got worse and then I noticed ulcers/boils all over vulva. Pain was very intense. They started to ooze and bleed. They are now drying out but I still have tingling feeling. I visited doctor who suggested possible genital herpes and put me on famciclovir.
They are suppose to strip my membranes how does that work? Does it hurt.
