Avatar n tn Hi -- I took tamoxifen to prevent an ovarian cancer recurrence (didn't work) and then went for another opinion after the recurrence trying to prevent breast cancer (my mother died of that, my sister of ovarian) -- she put me on evista as the tamoxifen didn't work.
Avatar f tn Could my recurrence of Ovarian cancer be attributed to my taking Evista for a year? I had ovarian cancer 15 years ago and after surgery and chemo, and a "second look" surgery with multiple biopsies was considered cured.I had a complete hysterectomy and the cancer seemed to be contained in my left ovary. Last winter I found a lump in my left groin which was biopsied and diagnosed as ovarian malignancy.
Avatar f tn he said I am cancer free right now, but a high risk of getting breast cancer so he is recommending this medication Evista. He said Evista was better then the tomoxafin because it causes less blood clots. Is this true? I haven't started any meds yet, since IM going to get a second opinon first to see what is the best course of medication for me to take.Of course there are side effects now what medication doesn't have any side effects right.
Avatar f tn Hi, I'm ok, but I think about this every day since I found out. It bothers me more than I thought it would. I have no known family history, but my mother died at 60 from complications from uterine cancer. I am post menopausal. When I was 49 my husband died and my periods just stopped suddenly and I had only hot flashes. But they were often and I would get drenched at work. So I took Prempro. I never stopped taking it because every time I tried the flashes came back.

Avatar f tn How long should a woman stay on Evista if no negative side affects?
Avatar n tn I met with a surgeon this morning who entered my data in a model and put my risk for bc at 30 percent now (my mother had bc, both ductal and lobular, in her 80s; I am 57). The next step is an MRI on Monday to ensure that when he does the anticipated excision he would not miss something more important. I have no fat in my breasts, which he said makes it difficult to get good information from a mammogram. He said my mammograms come out essentially "white.
340734 tn?1256586262 For those that knew I started Tamoxifen 8 weeks ago, it didn't work for me. Today at my doctor's appt, I was told my number (CA125) went from 72 (8 weeks ago) to 161. Still not a significant number, but I'll be starting Taxol weekly for the next 6 months. (Hopefully) this will put the disease in check for me. Only time will tell. Now, I will be putting that chemo tracker to use, but I've been told that weekly Taxol is not so bad.
Avatar f tn My doctor is thinking about the yearly injection of reclast. How safe is it and will I have more problems with my bones aching - I can't sleep at night a lot from the pain. This discussion is related to Atrial Fibulation / Multi-Infarct Dimentia.
