Common Questions and Answers about How does celebrex work

celebrex

Avatar f tn Hey Hopey. I was just prescribed Celebrex too!! I'm very anxious to see how well it helps b/c i have constant back pain and have tried several meds that haven't given ANY relief. I started the Celebrex today, 600 mgs. And will take 400 mgs/day after today. The dr DID say it can take a few days to start feeling relief from it.
Avatar f tn true, I was on celebrex for a short time and it did not work for me. I thought it was making even more edgy and did not help with my muscle & joint pain. I think just like everything else, it is different for different people. Good luck & welcome to the forum.
Avatar f tn Starting this new anti-inflammation med and I read it could cause weight gain and swelling.....anyone have this as a symptom? How well does it work? Have a lot of pain from herniated discs in my neck and back.
Avatar f tn I typically need a day or two of Vicodin for that as the Celebrex does not seem to work for that. These have worked for years, but I was recently diagnosed with lymphoma and told that Celebrex is not recommended with the oral chemo medication they want to put me on (Ibruntinib) because of severe bleeding issues. So obviously I am going to have to find an alternative pain med for my osteoarthritis. Tylenol doesn't do a thing. Vicodin doesn't really do much either (not for the knee pain).
Avatar m tn Has anyone used Celebrex for their Crohn's? I have severe joint point pain and I have been told that Celebrex is a huge help for this. I am wondering about side effects and medicine interactions.
Avatar m tn I started taking Celebrex two months ago and have gained 18 lbs since. I am wondering if anyone has gained weight on Celebrex? I have a sprained lumbar, lumbago syndrome with back spasms. I can't take narcotic pain meds. Any alternative to Celebrex? Naproxen does nothing for my pain.
Avatar m tn Celebrex is not banned in the us. I see it on tv all the time and my pharmisist recommended it.
Avatar f tn While I was on them my mind was playing tricks on me about how awful the pain was and how much I needed to keep taking my medicine. I'm on day 7 and there is pain. The pain is always going to be there but it's not as bad as I thought it would be. You will notice once you stop relying on them that you wake up and say yeah I hurt move around a bit and it's bearable. It's very freeing to be able to do that and realize it hurts but you can handle it.
Avatar n tn My mom was diagnosed with Hep C. We do not know how long she has had it. She is 64 but she also has osteoporosis and arthritis in her lower back. The back doctor just prescribed Celebrex, is this the safest drug for her? Also what should people with Hep C do to better care for their liver eventhough so far she seems to have a healthy liver. For the osteoporosis she is on Fosamax. She has been on it for several years.
Avatar f tn Thank you for sharing your update with us! I'm sorry to hear you are hurting and that your doctor cut your meds. I just don't understand that. Especially when he doesn't even know if the Celebrex will be approved or not! Does it work for you? My insurence wouldn't approve it for me either....they ended up putting me on relefen (I'm not supposed to take NSAIDS mind you) and that stuff made me sick as a dog. Going to the doctor is so hard....
Avatar dr m tn ve asked for a copy) where after 2 months patients report even better pain relief with SAMe than Celebrex. SAMe does not have deleterious side effects. The other natural meds have been reported to have some anti-inflammatory effects - and are pretty risk free - so I'll be taking them in combination. SAMe+Tumeric+Ginger and Norco as needed (hydrocodone).
Avatar f tn t give me any advice for tapering off one to another. Any advice on how to do that? Can I take the Celebrex while still taking some Nucynta?
418155 tn?1205409893 yey....it is good stuff and safer than celebrex....I take naproxen sodium which is very similar....my son hurt his knee and had fluid on it...he took it for a week and applied ice and it healed up.....I like it because for me I can take as needed instead of everyday...most have to build up in your system and can not be used on a prn basis...
293157 tn?1285873439 I take Cellebrex everyday 200mg.. what is the difference or how can I find out the difference .. from Celebrex and Indomethacin? the Neuro said to stop the Celebrex for the time I take the other med..10 days.. she said to call her office next week and let them know how I'm doing. so I don't know.. my face if fine right now.. I will get the Rx filled when i get out.. and try it to see if it helps with the face pain. take care wobbly ..
Avatar f tn You do know your doctors know a lot more about this than we do -- have you asked them? You can get a cortisone shot if you want the risk of one. As for telling you it would be normal with celebrex, you probably knew at the time it was impossible for them to know that -- individuals differ a ton in how quickly they heal, in how severe the problem is, how long it took to develop, how carefully we stick to the treatment regimen.
Avatar m tn Hi about a year ago a had an injury at work that caused 2 herniated disks. I did the physical therapy for a while than realized I can do most of the pt stuff at home or at the gym. I am prescribed Celebrex and skelaxin. I have a question about the skelaxin. Well my job is physically demanding I work in a hospital I do patient care I "boost" patients, transport patients, help very unsteady patients get out of bed and walk. So quite often I need to take my skelaxin.
Avatar f tn hi i have arthritis and i have had 4 joints totally replaced and i am only 35 with no kids. i am having so severe side effects from my med mainy celebrex i have had an heart test and was seen as early polarization , diagnosed with chronic gastrointestinal reflux and have skin rash and legions . i am thinking of a claim against them . but in the main time i dont want my doctors to feel bad as they have been with me since my early twenties.
Avatar n tn Now he tells me that I have to rest again for another 6 weeks and Im back on celebrex. Does rest really make it heal? Will it ever get better? I am really frustrated and want to get back out on the field. it has been 5 monthes for a procedure that was suppose to take 8 weeks to be healed. Thank you for your help! Btw, I was told by being 16, I would heal quickly!!
370181 tn?1595629445 So, your rheumo wants you to try Celebrex. I would caution you against taking Celebrex. My mom who is also suffering from chronic pain due to a back injury she sustained from a bad fall eight years ago, was also prescribed Celebrex by a surgeon who is an expert in pain management. Well, my mom was on the Celebrex for only two days. She felt very ill on the Celebrex and went off the Celebrex by herself as it was making her symptoms worse.
1415174 tn?1453243103 I have variable pain day to day. Almost like clock work it is low one day, moderate or high the next, low, moderate until after I haven't injured myself for a while then it startst to level off. I did notice that when I took either Tylenol or Celebrex on the bad day it started to break the cycle. Any suggestions or has anyone seen this?
Avatar f tn Forgot to mention - you said you'd been taking celebrex prior to your last blood test... I don't know if celebrex would raise your levels that much, but you can check drugs.com for interactions. What other thyroid med did you have in mind to try?
Avatar f tn I stopped some of the things she prescribed me b/c they made me so foggy and groggy. She told me not to work but I did work every day this weeek anyway and it was good because it kept me busy and helped the time go by faster! My body is a bit achy but I took some celebrex and hope it will help. I am going to stop taking the rest of her meds over the next day.
Avatar n tn The only problem is, everything he has recommended does nothing - I have tried ibuprofen 400mg three times daily, ice four times daily, and am now on Celebrex 200mg twice daily (does just increased from one daily yesterday). The only thing that temporarily takes the edge off is ice. Has anyone heard of PRP treatment (platelet rich plasma)? I am trying to find out success rates of this treatment. I also need to know if insurance covers it and cost if it does not.
Avatar n tn I tried doing cardio exercise with weights and this pain then begin! Had X-ray of ch st, ekg and blood work all normal! Hurts to touch or move torso , lifting arms up, or a deep breath at time! Taking Celebrex to reduce inflammation! Not really helping! Ice does help for a short time! I keep pressing on area, and may not be helping! What do you recommend trying?
