About 36 hours after taking the medication, I got an eye infection. Now I have a lot of anal itching. How long does it take for the medication to work? It seems to be not kicking in yet and possibly spreading.

I was diagnosed with Chlamydia about a week ago. They gave me Azithromycin, 4 tablets at 250mg to take all at once. I took them and have severe stomach cramping and nausea, and ended up getting sick about 45 to an hour after taking the last pill... hoping that I would have already digested it before I got sick. The stomach pain lasted the rest of the day. It's been about 3 days now since I have taken it, but I still have that "burning" sensation after I urinate.

My doctor told me to take Azithromycin single dose powder with water (chlamdyia medicine) I think the taste of the medicine with be awful with water. Does anybody know if it will still work with a Gatorade or Jucie???

When is a retest recommended? Does anyone know if the Azithromycin continues to work, even after the course is finished or whether the fact that I still have symptoms (burning when I urinate) this means I need a longer course of antibiotics. I've read that some Azithromycin is resistant to antibiotics. Any help much appreciated.

Hi and welcome. It does take a week or so as depends how sever you got it. If you dont see good results soon, have a followup with your doctor.

it does seem like a lot but remeber you were prescribed 1gr and no matter how it is made up you should follow the prescription by the Dr.

Another thing that maybe helpful to some people is to realize that Azithromycin and Doxycycline work by not killing the bacteria, but actually by preventing the bacteria from reproducing. That means that your body's immune system actually has to kill the bacteria on its own. So for some of us this may take longer than others, and the bacteria may be present but not replicating after 7 days which may be why some of us still feel the symptoms. This should eventually go away.

Had muscle tremors nausea agitation increased anxiety. Wasn't admitted but they did blood and urine labs and did EKG to make sure heart was ok. It happened almost immediately after the first day of taking the azithromycin. Now I'm just trying to be patient for my zoloft to fully level out so that I can back to work and life.

I have been taking Azithromycin for 4 days. I have gotten worse. Still have fever and have developed nasal congestion with yellow discharge. ENT gave me Spectracef. I read that Spectracef does not treat mychoplasma. So, is there an antibiotic that would treat both mychoplasma AND sinusitis incase I have one or both?

They are suppose to strip my membranes how does that work? Does it hurt.

I have 5 days till my due date and baby doesnt seem to want to come any time soon. The doctor said is I went to 41 weeks they would probably induce me. How exactly does that work? I thought it was just some kind of medicine they gave you through an IV but a friend said something about them sticking a needle up there. Im a little freaked out, could someone please explain it to me?
