Common Questions and Answers about How are alcohol calories used

alcohol

Avatar m tn Alcohol does have carbohydrates in it, but different types of beverages have different amounts of carbs. It has a lot to do with what is used to make the alcohol and how it is made. (ie: many beers are made from wheat, barley, corn, or rice...typically high in carbohydrates. Wine is often made from grapes or other fruits that are then fermented to produce alcohol) In short- alcohol does have carbohydrates, but the amount of carbs varies a good bit between various types of drinks.
Avatar m tn I think you're on to something. Alcoholic beverages are one of the most common sources of "empty" calories - they do not provide nutrition (for the most part), and a typical alcoholic beverage has at least 150 calories. Count the number of alcoholic drinks you have a week and multiply by 150 - it adds up pretty quick!
Avatar f tn You surely should not drink any alcohol at all while taking pain medication, or any medication for that matter.
Avatar f tn I'm no expert, but 845 calories doesn't seem like enough food. The calories you eat are supposed to be based on your weight and height. They say that if you don't consume enough calories you will. make your body go into starvation mode and that will prevent you from losing any body fat, the only weight you would lose would be from muscles and that's the type we want to keep.
362249 tn?1441315018 Alcohol can trick you. It has calories so must be taken into account in your daily caloric counts but it does dehydrate you. Providing you don't drink alcohol the next day you will rehydrate and be back where you should be providing you didn't immensely go over your calorie intake. I just count it as it is since I weigh in daily.
Avatar f tn t use alcohol, drugs, or even much soda pop as those are worthless calories.
5830210 tn?1375133732 I dont believe in eating for 2 and have even been eating healthier than normal. Plus no alcohol so you would think that alone would cut out alot of calories. Is this normal?
Avatar m tn Depends on which meals you are eating. If you're eating breakfast and lunch, but little in the evening, it might work. But as sechmeth said, it also depends on WHAT you're eating and the amounts. If you cut calories too much, your body will go into starvation mode; however, you have to cut calories a little bit (usually, by around 500/day) in order to lose weight.
Avatar f tn t even look at carbs the same way anymore! You can even pass up potato chips. I read an article about alcohol in a diet. It faulted alcohol for being even easier to burn than carbs, so your body stores all your food and burns the alcohol instead, hence the "beer belly". Alcohol, as well as other high carb foods also make you crave more alcohol and high carb foods- a terrible cycle to fall into either way.
Avatar f tn I'm 26 and I weigh 177lbs (12.7stone) I managed to lose a stone in January but ill health knocked me off my health kick and although assissted me in losing a further 7lbs Im now stuck!! It seems kind of soon to be hitting a plateau and I'll admit it gets me frustrated because I busted my backside exercising last week and muscles hurt where I didn't know you could have muscles but I hardly lost at all...a measley 1.5lbs.
Avatar f tn Was wondering how 'safe' it is to drink extreme low alcohol content beer (0.5% ALC/VOL)...I am asking because l can't seem to find a low suger, thirst quenching summertime drink..all the fruit juices and fizzy drinks are loaded with suger. I saw this beer on the superrmarket shelves and had a look at the ingredients...<1.0g of suger per 100mls..only ingredients are barley, hops, yeast and water. I bought a bottle (very cheap) and it tasted surprisingly good.
Avatar f tn I want to start making a routine of calories and start there. How many calories is bare minimal for a 100 woman to maintain a healthy life?
Avatar m tn Thanks. Question. If Triglycerides are 116 and should be below 150 to me that would be considered pretty low. In this article it addresses high triglycerides with some certian situations of being overweight, eating lots of sweets, alcohol etc. I do take fish oils does that raise my LDL and total CHL? We watch what we eat and just trying to figure out what we are doing incorrectly or is this could be a incorrect test. Thanks, George Triglycerides are another type of fat in the blood.
Avatar m tn s my Dad and Sister(never touched any drug/alcohol ever) are lean also??... It effects my self confidence, and yes I used on it in the past.. thanks for listening.
Avatar f tn If you go over your calorie limit does it give you less calories till you make up the calories you over ate because I had like 500 calories but I over ate a few times and now it says 300 something
649848 tn?1534633700 but you know, we all know sugar is a problem, so if it gets people to consume less, job done. I do love the explaining how calories are not the main issue. I say that a lot on here, but most people keep going on and on about calories. It's always been more about how we metabolize food. I do wonder, though, how do they get accurate info on people in Mongolia or China and the like? Not easy countries to get accurate info from. Peace, all.
Avatar n tn Varriety is trully the key. There are calories from 4 sources, carbohydrates, fat, protein, and alcohol. Fat, protein, and carbs all are important in moderation daily in order for your bpody to get what it needs. Fat has 9 calories, the others 4.
Avatar m tn How does the Weight loss & dieting app determine how many calories a day is needed? I put in all my profile information and I put in my goal weight. The app determined that I should have 1780 calories a day. That sounds high to me. Any ideas on this will be much appreciated.
1555116 tn?1294483683 If weight loss comes about by burning more than you eat, how can this be possible, especially on such a healthy diet and exercise plan, and particularly without all those alcohol calories? Any help anyone could give would be very much appreciated.
397560 tn?1220022177 My question is where can I find a book or something that tells me how many calories do I need a day and hpw many calories i take in every time I eat something? Thank you for your replies.
620923 tn?1452915648 Every gram of protein and carbs are equal to 4 calories, but every gram of fat is equal to 9 calories, which shows why we should chose our fats wisely. Secondly, protein should be 12-20% of your daily caloric intake, carbohydrates should be 65%, and fat 20-25% (less than 10% saturated fat).
