anorexia

Avatar m tn Hello, Weight loss is one of the side effects of taking Accutane and it may cause anorexia as well. Eat a healthy nutritious diet and consult your doctor if weight loss is a major problem. You may need to be put on some other medication for acne rather than Accutane. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor.
1310561 tn?1285863461 Are you crazy? You are obviously not smart for your age. Anorexia can cause some severe damage on your body. If you don't give your body the nutrients it needs long time effects will come. Then you'll just look really nasty and skinny, and that is not attractive for anyone. So if thats what your going for, to look good, you're just making yourself look worse. Try a diet or exercising don't put your body through that!!
Avatar f tn actually OSFED (otherwise specified feeding and eating disorder) is only a temporary diagnosis. how you feel about your body is what gives you the disorder, the behaviors the define which kind. there are two types of anorexia, restrictive and binging/purging (which doesn't always include binging). it sounds like you have anorexia nervosa b/p, but i am not a doctor and you should really see one so you can get better.
Avatar f tn and im sure your pretty jast the way you are, but if you dont believe that...buety still loved the beast. =D but mainly if your worried about your body, look at those this super models with their bones sticking out, MAYBE go on a health diet, so that you know the food going in your body is good and do lots of exercise so it will turn into muscle. let me know how you go ok.
Avatar n tn How old are you first of all?
Avatar m tn Hi and welcome, Unfortunately eating disorders such as anorexia effects the entire body, including the brain and nervous systems. What you are experiencing could be due to your anorexia, as it can cause peripheral neuropathy, vitamin B12 deficientcy etc so it would be worth discussing this with your doctor. Cheers..........
Avatar f tn Also when you stop eating your body will start to eat itself (including your muscles). You can do this hun... keep it up and persevere.
358304 tn?1409709492 But I think there is a difference between not having an appetite versus being worried about your looks and your body and becoming anorexic. Right? ps: i've been on 5mg lexapro for about 4 days now. Hopefully in a couple of weeks I'll be feeling back to my old self again.
Avatar n tn The weight you regain your period at will be different to the weight you once got your period at. Your body needs to readjust to itself. Once you maintain your period for a year then you can trust that your body is regulating itself... on the path to repair anyway. I am starting my recovery now. I saw my doctor this morning, Dr Geoffrey Buckett, and he said this quote which has truly impacted me and will hopefully change my mentality towards food and life.
Avatar f tn In the summer my heart rate was 80+ and today at my appointment with my councilor he was showing me breathing techneics and the thing he was using shows you how it effects your heart to show you how it relaxes you. It showed that my heart rate is 120+. This was after the breathing thechneic, the heart rate was at least a bit higher before hand. Anyways so my questions is what are the dangers of a heart rate of 120+ What can it cause?

Avatar f tn There are free eating disorder support groups you may want to seek in your area. Overeaters Anonymous (Anorexia and Bulimic meetings) are international; as I believe Eating Anonymous are too. There are self-help books for those with eating disorders through Gurze Books. Addressing the real issues can help free you from your eating disorder. It is extremely common for individuals to switch from one type of eating disorder to another.
Avatar n tn thx for such a detailed answer!:) as i have these worries, i go searching a lot online abt it... and i believe i find i had some symptoms very close to anorexia, like bad sleeping conditions, low blood sugar level, dizzy vision, etc... yet i never deliberately controlled my diet, nor did i use any drugs. i ran a lot, and ate relatively less(as i'm now studying overseas and have to eat unbearable boarding food...).

Avatar n tn I have struggled with anorexia for a long time and am currently in recovery. Your internist isn't trying to blow you off by giving you the answers she did. And don't feel alone - very few people recovering from eating disorders take pleasure from the process. While TV and articles can make it sound like an idyllic and nurturing process, it often feels like jumping off a cliff. Doing the right things feels incredibly wrong because of how you've conditioned yourself to think.
Avatar f tn I battled with depression and anxiety along side it and would just put my insecurities down to that, but that has very much improved but my views on my body have stayed very much the same. Everyone at home has commented on how my weight I have lost but I still see my body as fat and ugly. I have never told anyone about it as I feel they won’t take me seriously as I am technically underweight now and I don’t don’t want to worry my parents with it.
Avatar m tn Do you feel less strongly about your partner? Is there another aspect of your relationship that you two are struggling with that may be connected to why you're feeling this way? Also make sure and check the side effects of any medications you might be on. Some medications especially anti-depressants have sexual side effects. Good luck!
918035 tn?1274644533 I want you to remember this, it's not about being fat or thin, it's about being healthy! I realize that you are going through a difficult age right now, and sometimes things seem like they can't get any worse, but somehow they always seem to work themselves out. I suggest that you talk to your mom about what's going on, tell her exactly how you feel, not what you think she wants you to say.
Avatar f tn Should you count calories or just eat what your body tells you? I didn't count calories before, I'm scared that STARTING during recovery will make me obsessed. But I worry If I don't, I won't be eating enough. My plan is just to generally eat more until I see the scales climb at a rate of around 1-2lb a week until I reach a bmi of 19-20, Then I'll stop and maintain intuitively. Is this a good idea?
20893793 tn?1580909977 If you are exercising every day, your body will need fuel to rebuild muscle tissue, as well as fuel to keep your brain powered and your body going. If you don't fuel your body enough, it will use both fat and muscle tissue to make up the difference, and losing muscle is one way to slow your metabolism down.
1017480 tn?1303107824 It is now 5 years down your path and your body has been trained to act in a certain way. Each time you go through an episode your body over-produces certain chemicals, digestive acids and enzymes, adrenaline and much more. Adrenaline is produced in the adrenal glands and is a toxic poison that is not meant to remain in your system.
Avatar n tn My 21 year old daughter is anorexic and in denial. I am trying deparately to reach out to her, to no avail. Her feet are swelled everyday. She eats a good breakfast and a salad for dinner. She has lost 30 lbs and wants me to stop her from eating. She tries to feed me all the time and has every symptom of anorexia. Please tell me how I can approach the situation. She is moody and doesn't want to be around anyone - very unlike what she was a year ago. Thank you.
Avatar n tn It is crucial that you eat at least 1500 calories a day for your body to function. If you are breast feeding, you would need much more. You need to be healthy for you and your baby. Best, Dr.
